Siesta Villa

We stayed for 8 nights, and less than impressed is the nicest way to put it. The only positive things I can say is the beds were comfortable and the outlook onto the lake was nice. Certainly not worth $350 per night!! The breakfast would be good if it was actually hot, even getting there upon opening at 6:30am the bacon was cold, eggs were generally only half cooked and sausages often reheated from the previous day. New manager made guests feel like an inconvenience for just being there, he is not a people person at all, the upside of this was the entertainment of what he might do next in the breakfast room, from running into guests without apology, throwing his hands in the air and swearing because he had to clear the tables after guests had finished their breakfasts, standing around with his hands down his pants, then briefly disappearing to the kitchen and returning with clean plates and we just hoped he’d washed his hands but not sure he’d actually been gone long enough to have had time. We were not provided with fresh linen and even when we asked for clean towels, we were not given a full set only bath towels. They did come into the room each day weather we liked it or not as there was no sign we could hang on the door, (although towards the end of our trip I did notice that some rooms had these so it must be pot luck) from what I could tell they changed the bins most days and sometimes restocked the room with toilet paper, tea bags etc but we frequently had to go and ask for these things much to the dismay of staff. In summary, the place has potential, but overall it was very disappointing and overpriced.

The motel is located just out of town, but close enough to walk into town. The room was well equipped and comfortable. The is plenty of parking available and some rooms have lake views. We did not see any staff as they have contactless checkin.

What a gem! Really lovely little spot in a perfect location near the lake. Charming family-run business, with great food, great service, great bed, great shower, great everything! 10/10!
Alpha Centauri Townhouses

We enjoyed our stay in two townhouses, it's more than we could ask for, reasonable price and very clean. Excellent communication and the owner and receptionist are very kind and friendly. Kids enjoyed sleeping on the bunks. The town house has 3 bedrooms, 1 room has a double bed, another room has a double bed and bunk, and the 3rd room has a double bunk, single bunk and a double bed. It has two bathrooms and 2 toilets, washing machine and dryer, beautiful open dining, lounge and kitchen area along with a balcony and garage. This town house was perfect for my family. Especially having children. Pom is a great guy, so layed back and saved me time walking up to the reception. He happened to drive by doing taking the trash and I handed my keys over to him, how great was that. Knowing that I have kids. We will definitely stay here again, it's a few minutes away from town. Also, there's a back yard too. Perfect for children to play. Thank you Alpha Centauri for having us. Regards Niitaraupoko

Troldhaugen Lodge - Adults Only

A great Alpine lodge, well-located, tastefully renovated, comfortably appointed, and served with great dedication and attention-to-detail by owners Claire & David. Really comfortable and scrupulously clean rooms, with their very own range of beautifully scented toiletries (Snowy Mountains Soap Merchants). The breakfasts were superb; including home-made Bircher muesli, other cereals, three types of artisanal bread, cheeses, ham, eggs, and a couple of times on our 6-day stay fresh croissants & pain-au-chocolat. Oh, and David knocks out barista espresso coffees, alongside a wide range of pots of tea. The dining room and lower garden also provide great spaces for post-walk/cycle/ski drinks and takeaway with plenty of space for suitable physical distancing, if still required when you go... Claire & David were also very attentive, helpful, interesting, and dare-I-say-it charming hosts. Thanks for an awesome post-COVID-lockdown getaway, wonderfully refreshing - Paul & Amanda =)
