The smell of the bathroom was so bad... The hot spring was nice, but I couldn't sleep because of the bad smell coming from the bathroom. When I looked, it didn't seem to be just our room, but the sewage facilities were poor overall. Since it was a complaint, they couldn't change the room, but they just sprayed a lot of deodorizer. I went to a ryokan with great determination, but I don't think I'll go there again. I'd rather have a 5-star hotel vacation with this money. The dinner was delicious, but it felt average. The breakfast was good! I recommend the breakfast.

The hotel is very quiet, and I feel like I have entered another world. Although the rooms are relatively old, they are well taken care of and maintained well.

Located uphill in Yamashiro onsen. The hotel looked a bit old but still grand. Check in service was good. We sere led to our room, which is quite big by any Japan standard. It is a 10 tatami living room, plus a twin bed, a side seating area by the window, and a nice large entrance area. Though the hotel is a bit old and dated, I can see that the hotel is trying hard to make up by better service. The hotel provides a 50 minutes family onsen session to us during our stay. The family onsen is very nice, with drinks, towel and amenities all stocked up. Our dinner was served in the room. We were served one whole Echizen crab each person, making us very busy to take out the crab meat. It was a sumptuous meal with various good ingredients. For the price we paid, it is a good deal that we have.

Stayed for one night as a family of three for New Year's Eve in 2022-2023. Since my purpose was to relax in the room, I was drawn to the recently renovated room with an open-air bath, so I made a reservation. As rumored by word of mouth, the exterior and common areas are old, but the employees are friendly. Although we arrived a little early, there were welcome drinks available in the lobby, and the yuzu-mitsu drink was especially delicious. When the time came and I was shown to the room, it was a really new room, and I loved the colors and design. I think this is due to renovations, but there is a 20cm step between the sink, WC, and bath, so I think it would be better to have a warning sign (change the color, etc.) to prevent tripping in that area. (Be careful of late-night WC) In the room, there is a De'Longhi pot, 500ml of water per person, tea sweets (New Year's sweets: Fukuume), Kaga hojicha, and a cup of coffee, as well as glass cups, teacups, and mugs. It was fulfilling. There was also a wicker basket to take to the public bath, as well as a Yuzen-patterned kinchaku bag. Women can choose a yukata in the lobby, but there were also regular yukatas and long shirts in the room. I was glad that the open-air bath in the guest room had a circulation system, so I was able to take a bath right away, but I was wondering how they were cleaning it if they didn't have many opportunities to drain the hot water. In 805, the WC is located next to the washroom/dressing room space, so if you go to the WC when someone else is using the shower booth, you will be able to see the bathing scene. We hung our yukatas on hangers from the door closer to hide them. Since it is used by people other than couples, I would like to see some improvement in this area (shower carts, etc.) Dinner was delicious, with the main dish being the ara-saki sea bream, which was described as a traditional dish. I ate breakfast at the last session starting at 9am, but I was disappointed that the atmosphere seemed to prioritize cleaning up at the end. Overall I was satisfied, but I was particularly disappointed in the behavior of the staff in the food department. Overall, I liked the Hashin type room, so I would like to use it again when the regular rate is available.
