Guest UserSheraton Kagoshima | Perfect Solo Trip Experience, Watching Sakurajima + Onsen Healing 🌋♨️
【Basic Information】
🏨 Hotel: Sheraton Kagoshima
📅 Check-in Date: June 19th - June 22nd
👤 Travel Type: Solo Traveler
【Overall Rating】⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ (5/5)
I came to Kagoshima for a solo vacation and chose the Sheraton after seeing it recommended by a travel blogger. To my surprise, it exceeded all my expectations! Hygiene, environment, service, and facilities all scored a perfect 5, making it the highlight of my trip.
【About the Room and View】
As described during booking, I stayed in a room with club lounge access.
The moment I opened the door, I was truly amazed – a huge floor-to-ceiling window directly overlooked Sakurajima volcano! Whether it was watching the volcano faintly appear through the morning mist or admiring the city lights come alive in the evening, this view was absolutely breathtaking. The room's interior design was modern and simple with excellent natural light. Staying in such a spacious environment by myself instantly lifted my spirits.
【About Facilities and Service】
As someone meticulous about details, the hotel's cleanliness put me completely at ease; every corner was spotless.
- Gym: The equipment was new and comprehensive. Running on the treadmill while enjoying the view outside made the workout feel effortless.
- Club Lounge: This was a major highlight of my stay! The environment was elegant and quiet, offering not only comfortable sofa areas for relaxing and reading but also dedicated dining areas and a bar. For a solo traveler like me, it provided both a sense of social security and the freedom of personal space.
【Highly Recommended: Natural Onsen and Foot Bath 🛁】
This was definitely the biggest bonus of my stay! The hotel has its own natural onsen, which is a savior for travelers who have been walking all day.
The most thoughtful touch was the outdoor foot bath. If you're traveling alone like me or are a bit shy about public large onsens, this foot bath is absolutely perfect! Sitting on the wooden steps, soaking your feet in the warm spring water, and looking up at the indoor garden scenery – the feeling of relaxation is truly indescribable. You get to enjoy the healing benefits of the onsen without any awkwardness, offering maximum privacy!
【In Conclusion】
If you're traveling to Kagoshima alone or looking for a place to relax and enjoy the scenery, the Sheraton Kagoshima is definitely worth a second visit. Here, it's not just about spending a night; it's about indulging in the luxurious time of gazing at the volcano and unwinding in a foot bath.

Guest UserThis hotel is super convenient, right inside Kagoshima-Chuo Station! You just exit the改札 (ticket gate) and it's a 60-second walk. Plus, it's next to a mall, so shopping and dining are a breeze. The front desk staff were very patient and helpful, and they offer luggage storage. Stepping outside, you're right at a bus and tram stop, making it easy to get anywhere. I loved Kagoshima, especially the food – unforgettable! I'll definitely be back.

XingzheyouwujiangThe hotel's location is excellent; you can reach it via an underground passage directly from Kagoshima-Chuo Station. It might be a bit tricky to find the first time, but you can also use the pedestrian bridge above ground. The hotel breakfast features many local specialties, highly recommended! There are convenience stores, Don Quijote, and various restaurants nearby, which is super convenient. I was also happy to see Sakurajima from my room! The only downside was that the room was quite dusty. I'm not sure if it was due to inadequate cleaning or if it's a common issue in Kagoshima itself. Also, there wasn't much in terms of service; both check-in and check-out were self-service.

Guest UserMake sure to book Banvina Coffee in advance, otherwise you might end up like me, walking to the back door thinking it was closed.
If you want a convenient location, this is definitely the place. It's very close to the central station, less than a 10-minute walk.
The café downstairs has great taste; hotel guests get a free coffee every day, which is fantastic!
The receptionist, although her English wasn't very good, was very cute ☺️ She even turned on the lights and air conditioning before check-in. The hotel is really generous.
The environment looks quite clean overall.
I would definitely choose this place again if I have the chance to go to Kagoshima again.

I was impressed by the friendly staff, all of whom had the biggest smiles. Kagoshima Chuo Station is about a 20-minute walk away, straight along the main street in front of the hotel. The breakfast buffet featured a wide variety of local Kagoshima ingredients and traditional dishes, as well as a wide selection of sweets, making it a delightful experience from the start of the day.

tonyteostRoom a little too small, but smack in the middle of Kumamoto. Had the pleasure of witnessing the Ohara festival during our tripl.

Jeremy NettoThe furniture is a bit dated and worn out but it has a million dollar view of Sakurajima. I had planned to stay only for one night on my way elsewhere but after seeing the view from my balcony, I immediately booked another night and the next day, the staff were very accommodating to allow me to stay in the same room without checking out and checking back in later. Would totally recommend this hotel to anyone.

Roman.KusLet’s start with good things. There is little kitchen you can use. There is free tea. There are two showers and one toilet room near the former entrance. Washing machine is free. The place is opened 24 hours. Wifi is fine. The mat and pillow are comfy. English-friendly.
Now, some bad things. It seems that the place knew much better days. Now, as many others, it became a home for those who work, not travel. It means it is still noisy after 22:00 in the dorm room. Guys can turn on the lights and leave them on. Locker doors slamming, etc. A few tenants did not care about clearing shower after them, same with the toilet slippers that are mandatory but tenants use the ordinary ones. If you are sensitive for this, consider choosing another place or at least a private room.

Even though this is an old hotel and it shows in its facilities and overall design, the service and amenities you get as a solo traveller is worth thw price you pay for an overnight stay. The room is clean albeit small but sufficient. Some points to take note if you're planning to book:
This is close to the central station so it's juat a block away from major shopping and transport options.
The hotel closes its front desk and doors at 11 pm to 7 am. Checkin before 11 pm. Going in and out of the hotel at that time is possible if you use your key card to open the front doors.
Walls are thin and it's very possible that you would hear your neighbor.
There's free coffee and drinks at the lobby.
