Reviews of Hotel Koyo

The male front desk staff member who checked me in (probably a veteran) was very businesslike and didn't explain the welcome drink. When I went to get it later that night, it was already finished. I saw it written on a paper afterward, but I think it would have been nice to at least be greeted with a "welcome, hope you had a good trip" and a brief explanation about the drink. They should at least properly explain what's written on the paper. The staff who helped with my luggage was smiling and very helpful, which I appreciated. I didn't have high expectations for the room, but the single room had been renovated, which was a pleasant surprise. The food was served in a private room with explanations, and I was very satisfied with the content. The open-air bath was spacious and not crowded, which was great. The parking lot had a slope, making it difficult to park. Note that single rooms do not have a view.

The hotel's facilities and location are excellent, and the staff are incredibly warm and attentive. The internal amenities are also quite comprehensive. It's a really great choice if you're staying in this area.

Confirmed booking does not match with hotel’s record and hotel wanted to charge extra

in general very good, a minor comment. the website of hotel only provide the choice of dinner and breadfast, the website of trip.com only provice breakfast. i stay 3 nights and only want to have 1 dinner in hotel, then i need to book one night from hotel website, 2 nights from trip.com. then contact hotel directly and join the 2 bookingd

The room is very clean and tidy but the most enjoyable part is the public bath. You can get more than enough amenities. Everything is perfect but just need to aware of the arrival time. If you arrive late at night without advanced reservation for the in-room dinner, there will be no where to eat.

Japanese atmosphere. Excellent physical and mental experience. Delicious breakfast and dinner. Friendly staff. A hotel worth staying at again and again.

This is a good hotel. Good points: 1. The bed is very soft and comfortable. I chose a bed frame instead of a tatami mat. 2. The breakfast was excellent and plentiful, with a huge selection of miso soup (I think) available in the center. 3. The onsen was great, with hot water and an outdoor area with a nice atmosphere. 4. There were snacks and a kind of cultural display at the hotel with plates for writing messages. I really liked the lobby with its huge orchid display; it was beautiful. There were also snacks before departure. Cons: 1. The room I booked might have been a small size, as I was traveling alone, so the view was terrible; I couldn't see anything. 2. The location is a bit far from the city center. If that's not a concern, it's perfect. 3. Other than that, I can't think of anything else. It's a great hotel.

Driving is convenient, and while the hotel offered a shuttle service, we were greeted by a ********* person who spoke Mandarin. However, this service stopped in the evening, which wasn't a problem. Why did we only realize the communication issues later that evening? Because before going to sleep, we found a long-standing menstrual blood stain on the sheets 🙂↕️. Calling the front desk went unanswered, so we had to go downstairs to find them. The front desk staff looked exhausted and busy, but they eventually managed to get someone to come to our room to clean it up. There's a large public bath and private baths. A 45-minute reservation for a private bath seems to cost several thousand yen, but I wouldn't recommend booking one. The hairdryers and shower facilities are old-fashioned, and there's only one shower stall (though it's stated to be for a family of four). Long-haired women take longer to dry their hair, so it's useless for families with more than three people. We tried to book an extra 45 minutes, but it was fully booked. Everyone should go to the large public bath; you can see the outdoor scenery (there's an outdoor hot spring) even when it rains. The breakfast was super delicious. Would I come again? I'll think about it!
