Tagong Grassland Tuoma Homestay

Great location in town with quiet rooms. Everyone was friendly and helpful.

Read if you are considering booking in the winter time: When we booked the room, we already expected the bathroom to not be very clean, so that wasn’t a problem. On arrival, one of the family members spoke some english and greeted us warmly. What came as a shock was that the floor-only heating is turned off automatically from about 8h30am to 7pm. I assumed it was for economical reasons, and since; when the sky is clear, the sun warms up the rooms efficiently during the daytime. When we first arrived, the room was freezing, and we were quite confused about how to turn on the heating. We tried to ask one of the staff/family member for help, and we were met with what seemed to be frustration and dismissal. It may have been due to being lost in translation but it felt rude and made us quite uncomfortable given it was a simple question. After that it was turned on at 7pm and we had to wait 2h for the room to heat to 21 degrees. I do not think it should be normal to wait under the bed covers wearing a winter coat. Thankfully the bed has electric heating which helped a bit. The next day was the same. One of us was dealing with a stomach flu from altitude sickness and when the clouds cast over, the room was freezing. I contacted the property through trip.com asking to turn on the heating. The earliest they could was 6h30pm. I was grateful still for the little bit of flexibility, but it wasn’t much. Some positives: Great location in Tagong, right next to the grasslands. The place is in a small alleyway off of the main road (less noisy). A spacious room with lots of big windows and cool woodwork ceilings. Staff on trip.com messages offered to help us find a driver to Chengdu, which I appreciated, although ultimately we found one ourselves. Clonclusion: This place has the potential to be a nice budget friendly stay during the summer. I understand it is low-season, but the heating conditions need to be disclosed clearly or instead they should maybe raise the price to provide what I consider as standard necessities during the winter at 3700m in altitude.

I loved this homestay and the restaurant next to it. You can feel the people working here are locals and want you to have the best experience.

Very basic accomodation. Our room was not 100% clean and the water flow very slow and made huge puddles lasting a few hours in the bathroom when taking a shower. The value is still ok, we had no major problem.

Very clean and comfortable hotel on the main street of Tagong. The hosts were very welcoming and accommodating. They helped us book a trip to a nearby city, which was appreciated and was very helpful for the planning of our holidays.

Such a good place in the heart of Tagong! Very clean and the owner is an amazing person! I booked a double room but he offered me a free upgrade to a bigger room. He also helped me book a bus and came all the way with me to the bus station to make sure I board the right bus. I really recommend this place!
