The building itself is quite old, and it feels old, especially around the water. Hospitality is not bad. There is no convenience store near the hotel, and PET water and tea can be purchased at the front desk for ¥ 100. In addition, the number of restaurants that can be eaten within walking distance from the hotel is limited. There is only one fixed-route bus per hour, so the range of action is limited unless you are a car. This time, I didn't use dinner or breakfast in the hotel, so I can't evaluate the contents of the meal. You can walk to Karatsu Castle.

We chose this hotel as part of a stopover, so we could visit nearby Yobuko (to eat squid). Looking at the Japanese travel sites, it was unclear to me what the difference was between the east and west wing, but I'm so glad to have chosen the east wing which turns out to be their newer addition with premium amenities such as a communal onsen bath by gender and a co-ed rooftop thermal pool/bath that you can go to in your bathing suit. This hotel appears to be owned by DHC, which is a Japanese cosmetics manufacturer because everything in the hotel bears their brand. The nice thing is that their products are very stellar and they are readily available. The communal bath is particularly well stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, facial wash etc. They also have a full spa facility with steam and dry sauna, aromatherapy rooms etc It was also a pleasure to have access to the beautiful baths and pool almost exclusively. We spent a lot of evenings after dinner soaking on the rooftop, listening to the sound of the waves. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk away from the center of the city, but it is a beautiful route that takes you past the castle. The entire experience far exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended.

The 3rd floor 1 floor of the commercial facility is the hotel. Simple interior, clean and comfortable stay. The shopping street around is never lively, but there are shops that can taste the yuki of Genkai Nada, including a sushi shop with Michelin stars. Breakfast is at the cafe on the first floor. The toast set, bread and thick cut bacon were delicious. There is no parking lot, the station north exit parking lot is recommended, 500 yen to 12 hours. It was a comfortable Karatsu stay.

This hotel was a really great surprise. Just a short walk from a JR station the hotel is situated right next to the ocean. You can fall asleep listening to the waves. The bathroom had a separated toilet and a big bathtub. The bed was really comfortable and you also had a few snacks as well as a water heater in the room. The city itself is about an hour walk along the beach or you can just take the train into the city. (just make sure not to miss the last one) When we were there (in October 2019) there was a construction side next to the water but since it seemed temporarily. Maybe ask before booking to get a room away from the construction side (still with ocean view)

A family like small inn lying besides a quiet seashore and very near to the Karatsu Castle. The Japanese style room was spacious with big windows that you can see a peaceful sea and enjoy a sunset view. The tatami mats were well prepaid that you just spread them out, you could enjoy a comfort sleep. The inn was easly to access to restaurants and shopping malls by within minutes of driving. There was Japanese massage for body near Aeon Shopping Mall where the price is only about 3000 yens per hr., bargaining price in Japan. The breakfast was traditional Japanese style with a bottle of fresh salad, enough for most people. The ladies were helpful that I thank them very much to help taking the luggage suitcase upstair. There are free carparks just at the other side of the road. Highly recommended.

It's the first time I stayed in Karatsu, but if I could, I looked for a hot spring inn because it was good. I had some doubts until I stayed, but when I was soaked in hot water, the doubt flew. But when I took a bath, I was surprised ‼ What, across the glass window, people were crossing the river. Wow ⁉ I thought I saw my splendid nude and hid my front with a towel. I couldn't see it because I was taking off my glasses, but I had an explanation with Chang and magic mirror, and finally I enjoyed the hot springs comfortably and calmly. We splurged and stayed at the Mizuno Ryokan to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. We were driving and it took a little while to find it because it is tucked in an alley behind a school. However, well worth the hunt! It is right on the beach with a fabulous view out to offshore islands. The staff is amazing in how they try to cater to your every need. English is spoken but we did a lot of pantomime as well. The food was fantastic; each course was a new experience in how to prepare Japanese cuisine and we enjoyed it all - even the squid that wasn't quite dead yet! All fresh, small portions but so much that we could not have eaten more at the end.

2 people + dog use. The room and bath are like a Showa ryokan. The facilities are not new, but everything was clean. It was a pet-friendly room, so there was no choice but to use tatami mats. For dinner, I asked for a course with Ise shrimp and Japanese beef, but I was very satisfied with both quality and quantity. QI was wondering if I should add mackerel, but I was full with just the course meal. There were several kinds of local sake and it was delicious. The rice of the rice was not good enough, so I ask for improvement. (This is the -1 rating.)

The end point of the airport subway JR Kanemaru, who arrived from Nishi Karatsu to Showa bus, was a naive inn facing the sea. The rooms are quite large, but the area where tatami mats are on the floor is about 4 tatami mats and not very large. You can see Genkai Nada and Koko Ohashi bridge from the window. The public bath is on the top floor, so move to the top floor by elevator. By the way, there is only a shower in the room. The dressing room is a good size, but it is clean. However, there seems to be no service such as bathing ice and juice. The large bath is not very large in the bathtub, and there are not so many shower facilities. From the large window, you can see the view of the calligraphy bridge and the genkai Nada. The sauna room is also complete. There is also a semi open-air bath. If you were to ask me what I liked about it, I would answer, ”The islands were beautiful.” There aren't even a single souvenir shop outside the hotel shop nearby, but there are well-maintained campsites and rental canoe grounds that are sure to attract many visitors in the summer. The hotel itself is a little old, but it has been renovated in various places, and the rooms and halls have been cleaned in an orderly manner. 30-40 meters from the room is a white sandy beach with a great promenade. I felt the difficulty of the hotel staff when I saw them serving the food and lighting the rice. The building itself is quite old, and it feels old, especially around the water. Hospitality is not bad. There is no convenience store near the hotel, and PET water and tea can be purchased at the front desk for ¥ 100. In addition, the number of restaurants that can be eaten within walking distance from the hotel is limited. There is only one fixed-route bus per hour, so the range of action is limited unless you are a car. This time, I didn't use dinner or breakfast in the hotel, so I can't evaluate the contents of the meal. You can walk to Karatsu Castle.

A family like small inn lying besides a quiet seashore and very near to the Karatsu Castle. The Japanese style room was spacious with big windows that you can see a peaceful sea and enjoy a sunset view. The tatami mats were well prepaid that you just spread them out, you could enjoy a comfort sleep. The inn was easly to access to restaurants and shopping malls by within minutes of driving. There was Japanese massage for body near Aeon Shopping Mall where the price is only about 3000 yens per hr., bargaining price in Japan. The breakfast was traditional Japanese style with a bottle of fresh salad, enough for most people. The ladies were helpful that I thank them very much to help taking the luggage suitcase upstair. There are free carparks just at the other side of the road. Highly recommended.

2 people + dog use. The room and bath are like a Showa ryokan. The facilities are not new, but everything was clean. It was a pet-friendly room, so there was no choice but to use tatami mats. For dinner, I asked for a course with Ise shrimp and Japanese beef, but I was very satisfied with both quality and quantity. QI was wondering if I should add mackerel, but I was full with just the course meal. There were several kinds of local sake and it was delicious. The rice of the rice was not good enough, so I ask for improvement. (This is the -1 rating.)

We chose this hotel as part of a stopover, so we could visit nearby Yobuko (to eat squid). Looking at the Japanese travel sites, it was unclear to me what the difference was between the east and west wing, but I'm so glad to have chosen the east wing which turns out to be their newer addition with premium amenities such as a communal onsen bath by gender and a co-ed rooftop thermal pool/bath that you can go to in your bathing suit. This hotel appears to be owned by DHC, which is a Japanese cosmetics manufacturer because everything in the hotel bears their brand. The nice thing is that their products are very stellar and they are readily available. The communal bath is particularly well stocked with shampoo, conditioner, body soap, facial wash etc. They also have a full spa facility with steam and dry sauna, aromatherapy rooms etc It was also a pleasure to have access to the beautiful baths and pool almost exclusively. We spent a lot of evenings after dinner soaking on the rooftop, listening to the sound of the waves. The hotel is about a 30 minute walk away from the center of the city, but it is a beautiful route that takes you past the castle. The entire experience far exceeded my expectations. Highly recommended.

We splurged and stayed at the Mizuno Ryokan to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. We were driving and it took a little while to find it because it is tucked in an alley behind a school. However, well worth the hunt! It is right on the beach with a fabulous view out to offshore islands. The staff is amazing in how they try to cater to your every need. English is spoken but we did a lot of pantomime as well. The food was fantastic; each course was a new experience in how to prepare Japanese cuisine and we enjoyed it all - even the squid that wasn't quite dead yet! All fresh, small portions but so much that we could not have eaten more at the end.
