We really enjoyed our three nights at Shooting Star lodge - it is a beautiful place with lovely friendly welcoming staff and great food.

A Beautiful, individual Hotel in a wonderful landscape. Perfect service and a marvelous kitchen. Distance To Stone Town around 1,5 hours.

Been visiting Zanzibar for over 14 years, stayed here some 10 years ago thought I’d come back, they have upgraded and refurbished the property, nice, modern and slick, cliff top location with 2 infinity pools, light and airy restaurant in the centre of the accommodation either side, beach bar now with the addition of a pizza oven and dining area, rooms styled in Zanzibarian tradition big beds with a net, cleaned daily, staff very helpful and friendly, food good & bottle of water in the room

It was very good, we stayed for 5 days and had breakfast and dinner everyday. The food was excellent every time. Friendly staff and a wonderful garden. The restaurant had a very nice view to the ocean.

We had an amazing time at Shooting star.Staff was amazing from the driver that collected us from the Airport Mr.Hajii to the receptionist John and The manager George to the waiters to the cheff they are all so friendly and welcoming.The team is always ready to assist. Breakfast was amazing loved everything on their menu. We got a chance to meet the owner Mr.Eli he he was so kind. The infinity pool with a view of the ocean,the food,the rooms..!!!Loved everything about this hotel i could go on and on but i would highly reccommend this hotel to anyone visiting Zanzibar!

Beautiful and relaxing hotel in a great location. Excellent food and service. The owner spoke to us and was really kind. Room was comfortable and spacious.

A charming lodge in front of Indian Ocean on the most beautiful beach with white sand. Amazing view from all the villas and especially from the swimming pool. Gardens with many beautiful trees around the villas designed with taste. A small human sized hotel I love to be with typical furnitures in the villas. A place where to rest, to breath and enjoy nature. Meals are really great : fish, lobster, fresh fruits... enjoying zanzibar creative cooking. From this place you can walk on the beach, collect shells, snorkel, dive, visit villages around, enjoy massages with Regina's golden hands, or just rest and enjoy the view with a cocktail... Thanks to the owners and the staff especially Fatma I spent a great week there. À place where to enjoy life.

We had a nice double sea facing room. Access to the beach was easy and there was a bar on the beach which was useful to get drinks and snacks. The beach was lovely to walk on although a bit rocky in front of the hotel. Nice loungers under thatched cover provided by the hotel on the beach Staff were friendly. Food was nicely prepared and very tasty,

This was the perfect, relaxing stay after our safari. We absolutely loved the hotel which is in a beautiful setting and the staff were so so friendly - they couldn’t do enough for us and really made our stay. Thank you!!!! The food was fantastic and reasonably priced, we loved the fish dishes each evening and breakfast/snacks were plentiful. The pool area is beautiful and really calm. There isn’t much to do nearby, but for a relaxing break away from the world this was our paradise. Thanks so much to the whole team.

We checked into the hotel and everything seemed all right at first. The hotel was almost empty and the counter tops, tables and chairs were sticky because they’d never been cleaned. Then, lying in bed, the mattress stunk like an old canal and the bedroom pillows had blood stains on them. When confronting the owner about it, he didn’t give a tiny rats bottom about it and told us to leave. Please stay away and avoid this place!

Shooting Star's highlight was the amazing infinity pool overlooking the ocean. The garden view room decorated in modern zanzibari style was charming. The bathroom was beautiful. We had lunch and dinner in the restaurant and the food was amazing. The buffet breakfast was the best I had in Zanzibar. The sandy beach was steps down from the lodge and it was amazing to have long walks in the coastline. The owner and all staff were very friendly. The wireless connection was good.

We stayed in Shooting Star for 5 nights in Garden View room. This type of room is not a big one, but it has a huge bed and nice bathroom. There were nice touches like the complimentary tea or coffee every morning at 07.00 at our terrace. They spray the rooms so no real problem with mosquitos. Without any doubt, the BIG PLUS is the swimming pool! What can I say, the view from there is WOW!! Zadani, the barman was a big + with his charmness and his nice drinks! Chris, the Manager, tried his best. Fortunately, there are not many rooms, so the hotel is quiet. The place is only for people who need to relax. Of course you can go down to the beach to sit on the hotel's hamocks and feel completely relaxed! But some meters away are big Italians hotels and not so quiet.

After climbing Mount Meru and a Safari Trip in Tanzania we were very happy when we arrived at Shooting Star Lodge in Zanzibar for 7 days of relaxing in the Sun. The hotel itself is very nice and cozy. If you like to have your privacy and not many people around you this is the perfect place to stay and relax. The food they serve at the restaurant is very delicious and fresh. The menu changes every day so even when you have a longer stay you have a big variety in foods and can choose between fish, meat or vegetarian. The Staff is very nice and always helpful. If you have any questions or concerns they will take care of it. At the Pool you will always find a spot to lay at. For rooms we can highly recommend the sea view cottages they have its own private chill spot right in front. All rooms are equipped with AC, Fan, safe and mosquito net. The owner is also very present and always up for a small talk. We enjoyed our stay at shooting star lodge and when returning to Zanzibar we would definitely come back here.

My stay here showed me that there is truly something about a property that is owner run and managed. This little beauty is a great example of entrepreneurship. It is run and managed by the owners and you would think that would be too much for only two pairs of hands but the service delivery and design execution is exquisite. The attention to detail, the care and the love thrown into the property is so evident in every little aspect of it. Elly and his wife have managed to ensure Shooting Star Lodge remains an authentic, barefoot paradise with deep connections to its traditional roots. Special mention to the staff at this little piece of paradise, they are amazing, so kind and considerate, I felt like I was the only guest that mattered but I am sure everyone felt this way with how wonderful they are.
