Room was clean. Rooms in the new wing are brighter and more modern but you can hear the music from the disco pub next door. They run till very late in the weekends. If you are a light sleeper this might be a problem. Amenities in room is lesser than on the old wing. Old wing rooms faces the main road. Comes with a balcony but don’t think anyone will sit there due to the dust and haze. Last thing, Housekeeping didn’t really come clean on my missing items. But thanks to reception staff for checking. So make sure you double triple check the room before leaving. Overall it was a good stay.

Very good location and design and very clean room!

I like classic hotels, so I liked the atmosphere of the ethnographic museum-like interior. I visited in winter, so the room was cold and the air conditioner didn't get very warm. The Japanese government is currently improving Kathmandu's water supply, so I think this will be resolved once it's completed, but the water quality is very poor. Be careful not to get water in your eyes when showering. They provide plenty of mineral water, so there's no problem with brushing your teeth. The breakfast is generally delicious, but one day out of the three days I had only carbohydrates, which was a bit of a problem. It is within walking distance to Durbar Square, but Kathmandu has severe air pollution, so it's a good idea to bring or buy a mask.

This hotel is really a happy turning point for me traveling alone in Kathmandu. The location is great, the service is great, the hotel design is very exquisite and full of local beauty, everything is not overly luxurious but perfect in details, not exaggerated but very particular, comfortable and clean, it really deserves a higher score, sincerely share it with everyone who travels here

I had the pleasure of visiting Kathmandu on a trip with my travelling partner in early November and it was such an amazing stay at Nepali Ghar Hotel. We stayed there for around a week, and by the end, I started to call it "returning home", because it felt like my home away from home. This hotel is at a super convenient location, right in the middle of the shopping district and center of Kathmandu. It is so easy to access everything from buying snacks to scarves to tourist items and outdoor clothes. The concierge and staff have a set of recommended places they can refer you to, who will offer you a trusted experience and products which is really important if you are buying things like cashmere scarves. The hotel room itself is gorgeous. We had two different rooms because we stayed in a different hotel for one night, but it comes with a large bathroom and shower, small area to sit down for a coffee or working on your laptop. We had two twin sized beds that were more than big enough for me, and I actually think its a bit bigger than a twin. It was so luscious and comfortable. Every night, I fell asleep right away. The room had an a/c, came with water, coffee, a kettle. The housekeeping comes everyday if you request it, and the hotel room service was so nice. The food is just delicious. My favourite is the huge variety breakfast buffet with local eats and western eats. It has enough substance to keep you going for a trek, but also if you want to have a simple meal. There was just endless options, and the seating is beautiful. Lastly, the staff at Nepali Ghar are the kindest group of staff I've ever met. You can tell they all work together cohesively. From the security staff to the concierge, everyone was so graciously kind for our entire stay. I highly recommend staying here if you have a chance- it's rich with history and a beautiful experience!

What an incredible stay. Nepali Ghar/Seto Ghar is a respite from all the travels and bustle of the city. Immediately upon arrival you will be well taken care of. If you’re not able to check in early there is a lounge upstairs for you to wait. The rooms are beautifully designed and comfortable. The breakfast/bar area is a courtyard and a welcome resting place in contrast to the busy streets of Thamel. The building is a historical one and you can tell a lot of thought has gone into restoring and renovating it. The hotel is the epitome of a boutique hotel. They have curated the experience from start to end, from yoga offering in the mornings, sound healing, gift shop, to concierge services. Service is top notch—if you have any queries about shopping for specific things, tours, they have your best interests at heart and will advise you on the best, well priced, authentic shops and companies to do business with. I hope to return to Kathmandu very soon and will stay here again with no hesitation!

Nepali Ghar is a wonderful property in a great location. It is within Thamel area which is nice and cosy. The property is not too far from the airport. The hotel has all the facilities and wonderful staff. I stayed in the Superior Room which is decent in size. Bathroom is a bit small and lighting above the sink are not ideal (difficult for shaving, etc.) The eating area is outside the property and has limited options. The hotel does not serve breakfast in the room which is kind of disappointing.

We had our best stay at this hotel. Breakfast was wonderful and they had a wide selection of food. Comfortable bed and the total ambience is beyond my words. The architecture in every corner of this hotel is to talk about. Everyone was very kind and helpful towards us.

Had a great time Nepali ghar hotel. It’s true name stand ghar , we really feel like a home here. Everything was perfect and outstanding, we really enjoyed our trip. Staffs are so humble and welcoming. Only a small issue was amenities in the room but still they fix it. Overall great experience

I had the pleasure of staying at Nepali Ghar Nov 4-10. Having travelled quite a bit and stayed at my fair share of hotels (both high end and on the side of the road) I can confidently say that this was single handedly one of the best hospitality experiences I’ve ever had. From the moment I walked in, I was embraced by a sense of deep warmth and exceptional care. First, the team is incredibly hospitable and attentive. Of course you’ll be treated with care and respect but the team really does go out of their way to ensure your stay is as comfortable and enjoyable as possible. No ask seemed unreasonable and their concierge team will help you navigate Nepal and the streets of Thamel - even recommending and arranging the most legitimate and cost effective tourist experiences. I arranged a plane tour of Everest through their team (which was awesome) and a few friends arranged a trek through them as well which they mentioned was amazing. You can tell their concierge team has put a lot of thought into the type of experiences they wish to offer their guests. They will also recommend legitimate vendors in Thamel to purchase reasonable and authentic Nepali souvenirs. Next, the hotel itself is beautiful and immaculate. It perfectly balances modern luxury with traditional Nepali aesthetics, offering an ambiance that’s both elegant and cozy. I really liked some of the finer touches in my room including porcelain pots for all the soaps and lotions and the 100+ year old ceilings. Though located so close to Thamel, the windows are in fact sound proof and have blackout blinds so you can ensure you will get good rest! The staff went above and beyond to ensure my comfort, and the food was simply superb. I particularly loved the breakfast and the days where traditional Nepali cuisine was served. I bet a lot of hotel guests don’t know this, but the vegetables served during breakfast are actually grown in the owner’s garden by his wife!! I also met a longtime guest of the hotel who informed me that she has been staying at this hotel for years when she travels for work and she mentioned that the staff haven’t changed once between her stays! They all know her by name anytime she comes through the city. Lastly, I can’t recommend the sound healing session enough. Whether you believe in the power of sound healing or not, when you travel to a place like Nepal, immersing yourself in unique and local experiences is essential. So I decided to try it. They hold it in their meditation room on their first floor. Initially, I was skeptical, but I can honestly say it was one of the most relaxing experiences of my life—and I indulge in pampering myself quite often. The session was conducted with such care and expertise that it left me feeling profoundly rejuvenated and at peace. the practitioner’s demeanor is very calming and kind. A great little hotel in the heart of the Thamel district of Kathmandu with numerous shops, restaurants, ATM, Forex all steps away. The staff at Nepali Ghar are very service oriented and did everything to make our stay a comfortable one. Restaurant on site is very good with both Nepalese and conventional dining choices. Rooms and facilities all clean and modern. Really good value for our stay in Kathmandu.
