This was exactly as advertised, rustic cabins in the mountains of Kauai owned by the state that have history to them. From the cool mountain air, to gentle rainfall, the cast iron stove for heat (not really needed but was nice to build a fire with wood purchased at the office when we checked in). The cabins also have excellent water pressure. You will be remote, no TV, no cell service, no wifi, and a lot of quiet (interspersed by Kauai’s only truly “un-endangered” species feral chickens/roosters that pose no threat other than their early morning alarm clock calls (which started deep in the jungle around 5 am and by 6 were nearby)… but we found this truly endearing by the second day onwards… you also tend to get to sleep earlier up here as it’s over dark and quiet at night.
