Ugab Terrace Lodge

I stayed at the lodge for one night, and camped for two. Both are wonderful options. I specifically loved the camping set-up - each of the three camp sites is well-equipment with a stone table, basin, a shaded platform and a private bathroom. Views from the lodge are awe-inspiring, the staff are friendly and the meals great!

We stayed at the campsite and found it ideal with good personal ablutions in a centralised layout, a braai and handbasin built from natural stone per site although there is no power at the campsites. Access to our site #3 with our caravan was a bit of a challenge but not impossible and we managed. The 3 campsites are well spaced providing good privacy. However, we were especially impressed with the Ugab Terrace Lodge up on the ridge, with its neat and well-kept layout, pathways and gardens, the well-maintained lodges with their wooden terraces, overlooking spectacular views of the Ugab Valley. We were helped by friendly and helpful staff as well as shareholders/owners who were on site at the time. Meals from the restaurant were excellent and well prepared and presented. The large outside deck near the bar looking towards Vingerklip was relaxing and the overall hospitality was great. There was also a 2 stage zipline of 800m and 600m which was great fun. We definitely recommend a couple of nights here for anyone travelling that way.

We had a great time at the campsite of Ugab Terrace Lodge. Bathrooms were spacious and clean and the staff really friendly. Although the campsite is located on the foot of the hill, it still has a nice few and just a short walk up the hill is the lodge, with a terrace offering great views of the Vingerklip and possibility for a drink.

We stayed hear for a night at the campsite on our way to Etosha National Park. The setting is incredible, perched high on a terrace overlooking the area's stunning scenery. The drive up the last few hundred meters to the lodge is not for the faint-hearted, but if that's an issue for you they will come and collect you. The welcome from the staff was wonderful; Friendly, efficient, helpful and highly professional. The three campsites are at the base of the terrace, they are well situated in a wooded area with amazing views to the East a hardstanding area, running water, a sink and waste bin. Each campsite has it's own spacious and immaculately clean bathroom.

The adventurous approach leads to the lodge, which invites a unique panoramic view into the distance. The lodges were tastefully decorated and lying out of bed there was a panoramic view immediately after waking up. The activities offered from zip line and guided walk and much more offer something for everyone. The pool is also spectacular. In addition to a good cool down, the loungers offer time for relaxation and sweeping views into the distance. All pictures describing the lodge are already posted here.

I'm going to be plain here: the campsite is simply overcharged. I had high hopes for this place but when it turned out that there's no electricity available I got quite disappointed. Lacking electricity for a campsite in Namibia is not a problem in itself - we stayed at several places without possibility of charging our devices during our trip, but those were available on half price. Shower and toilet are private and I have to admit that the view is great, but at a previous - similarly remote - campsite with private facilities, ELECTRICITY and even superior panorama we were charged less. Not to mention, that at the Ugab Terrace lodges - situated on the top of a hill with the steepest slope I ever experienced - they were able to manage to build up everything. So it kinda feels that they thought was 'campers should be happy with this and they also will be happy to pay more for the view alone'. Well, think again.

We spent a wonderful day at the campsite, three exclusive spots with private bathroom in a fantastic surrounding! Dinner up at the lodge was excellent with a stunning view! Service ist really friendly! Thumbs up!

The view is breathtaking, it's on the very steep hill. Don't even think to drive to the top with a regular car. The staff was helpful. The food was average. And something was wrong with the plumbung, and we couldn't mix hot and cold water, so it was hot OR cold, never lukewarm.

The staff at Ugab Terrace Lodge were very accommodating and they took excellent care of us, from perfectly cooked breakfasts in the morning to icy rock shandies at the pool in the afternoon. Our group of four booked two chalets. One member of our group has mobility issues, and I requested a room that would be easy to access. They gave us one with no stairs, and it was very close to the main lodge. It worked out great! I chose a lodge in this area because it looks interesting on Google Earth. We stayed two nights and spent a day driving around. This is a really neat region of Namibia, and I'm very happy I picked the Ugab Terrace Lodge. It's such a comfortable place to hang out. We also spent a lot of time sitting on the decks of our chalets, reading, chatting, and watching the colors of the sunset spread across the panorama.
