Revisited after a pleasant previous stay but this time left feeling extremely disappointed. The bedroom was very dirty in places, food mediocre at its best, and staff in need of training, I could go on. When giving feed back to the receptionist we were met with a ‘I’m very surprised’ attitude! We are not prepared to give it a chance as mentioned in a previous review, if one pays a little short of £300 for dinner/bed and breakfast I expect my stay to be memorable for the right reasons.

We have been regular visitors to Titchwell Manor for twenty five years (longer in my husband’s case) but this was our first visit since the hotel was acquired by the Chestnut Group. Given some of the more negative recent reviews we were not sure what to expect. On the whole we were pleasantly surprised to find one our best loved places largely unchanged. Over the years the hotel has had its ups and downs. At times the food has been fabulous at others a bit more run of the mill. Similarly the decor has at times been a bit frayed at the edges. Over recent years, from our point of view, a bit too much investment has been put into the extras like hot tubs with less attention to the basics. But the staff have always been lovely, the rooms clean and comfortable and the firesides welcoming. The food this time certainly lacked some of the finesse it previously had. We ate at the hotel all three nights of our stay and were presented with an identical menu on all three evenings which wouldn’t have happened in the past. Particularly as non meat eaters this meant a lack of variety. The quality was generally reasonably good and the recently introduced set menu represents excellent value. As a previous reviewer has commented the chef can be over generous with the salt. After so many happy memories we would have hated to see this special place close. Hopefully Chestnut can make a success of it and provide some of the investment it needs. If you are one of the many loyal visitors please give them a chance.

Very poor, need to improve the food, such a shame as it used to be fabulous. Hopefully Chestnut will get their act together soon.

This was our second stay at Titchwell Manor. We were unaware when we booked that the Chestnut Group had since bought it. I agree with another reviewer that its lost its sparkle. It has very little atmosphere. Our room with hot tub was just as it was when we stayed back in 2023. The room is a little tired in places and could do with some attention to detail though. We spotted a huge cobweb between the cupboard and the wall as we left. The staff are all really lovely and the the service they provided was excellent. I think in time and with some investment from the Chestnut Group that this hotel can regain its sparkle and we would certainly consider returning. No one likes change but I think in this case change would be welcome at Ticthwell Manor. We have stayed at many hotels within the Chestnut Group and have always had a great experience.

Overall, we were left disappointed. Having stayed and eaten several times previously, we felt it has lost its sparkle which made it special. The room was tired, the food was not of 3 rosette status and they even forgot our main course on one evening (when it eventually arrived, it was so salty we ate half of it.) They didn't charge us for it, so made an effort to apologise which was appreciated, but it still should not have happened, especially with 8 customers in the restaurant - it was not busy. All the staff we came across were lovely and the setting is beautiful. Please get your sparkle back.

Had previously come to Titchwell on its New Year package in 2023 and did so again unaware that it had changed ownership. I've given three stars because our room was very comfortable and well appointed, and cleaned acceptably, but the dinner service on New Years' Eve left a lot to be desired, so on the basis of that I'd have given it two stars. The food was good quality but there was very poor communication between the kitchen and the waiting staff: I'm a vegetarian with a few moderate additional dietary intolerances, and several times was given the wrong food, or it was mis-described; it could have led to me inadvertently eating meat or something that I was intolerant to, both of which would have been extremely distressing - this really needs to be be got on top of by management. We'd ordered a packed lunch for New Years' Day but the order got lost twice somewhere between the reception and the kitchen. New Year's Day evening meal was much more together. Also, the policy ong dogs needs to be more rigorously policed. We understood that dogs were restricted to the bar area but on NYE other guests brought in two massive hounds to the lounge area, which although not noisy were an unwelcome unpredictable presence when we were hoping to have a relaxing time by the fire bringing in the New Year. As per other recent reviews, things seem to be being held together by staff remaining from before the change of management.

Spent Christmas as usual at Titchwell, as we have done for over 10 years, on their 3 day Christmas package which we've loved for the quality of the food, the fantastic staff and wonderful Christmas atmosphere. Unfortunately this was our last year. Titchwell is now part of the Chestnut Group and this Christmas was truly appalling. There was not enough staff on duty for the amount of guests and no manager to oversee them so service was very slow during meal times resulting in long waits between courses. But shout out to Aranka and Ronaldo who did their best with little support. The food was not 3AA rosette standard, Food was poor quality served on cold plates and was lukewarm at best. No dish we had came out as described on the menu, there was always something missing. No 2 plates of the same meal came out the same, one beef dish had roast potatoes, the other a potato terrine. One had bernaise sauce the other didn't. The Christmas Day Lunch supposedly the highlight of the stay was a slice of low grade turkey roll served with 3 barely cooked brussel sprouts, 3 small roast potatoes, half a carrot and some red cabbage. The plate was cold so the gravy had actually set into a gelatinous blob before it reached the table, there was no stuffing, no cranberry sauce and no additional veg. I'd have got a better meal at a Toby carvery!.I have never before left a Christmas lunch hungry. If this is the future for Titchwell those 3 AA rosettes won't be there much longer. It's such a shame another independent hotel taken over by a corporate company and not for the better. To add insult to injury on departing they tried to impose a 12.5% surcharge per person on meals, even though we were on an inclusive package. It was removed when questioned but I wonder how many people didn't notice and paid it
