We recently booked to stay at the Gardeners Country Inn for a wedding we were invited to in Beverley and were left very disappointed with the room. When I phoned ahead, the lady on reception assured me it was fine to check in late and that our key would be left in a “safe place.” On arrival, we discovered the key had been left in a box that was anything but secure. Things went from bad to worse when we entered the room. It was clear it had not been cleaned at all — the bed was unmade with what looked like unchanged bedding, the bin hadn’t been emptied, and dirty towels were left on the bathroom floor. Given the state of everything, we felt we had no choice but to leave. We raised this with staff and were told a manager would call us back, but no one ever did. We received an email saying that the CCTV shows cleaners going in to clean and pictures of how the room looked when cleaned however we did not arrive until after 12:30 midnight and arrived to a room that was not cleaned at all. We also have photos of the room on arrival, video footage and proof from the taxi company when we booked the taxi to the gardeners country inn and it certainly hadn’t been cleaned. For the price we paid and the condition of the room, this is completely unacceptable — we absolutely deserve a refund. I have also attached photo evidence of the uncleanliness of the room and the email reply which is very contradicting.

walked in, sat down as a table of four. sat in the conservatory, dead flies trailing along the window sill. Sticky and unpleasant tables. dirty flooring, food all over the floor, not cleaned. Not a very good range of food available. would not recommend, straight in and out. Went to garden centre next door, brilliant.

Worst Experience Ever – Avoid Gardeners Country Inn! I rarely leave reviews, but my stay at Gardeners Country Inn was so bad that I feel I need to warn others. After checking in to our room at around 12:15pm, we were assured our room was ready. Due to it being during the middle of the wedding day, we just chucked our bags in the room without looking around (our bed was upstairs). The first time we went upstairs was at the end of the evening at 12:30am to find our bed had been slept in and not turned over from the previous guests. Disgusted by this I had to go back into the venue to ask for fresh sheets, was told there was no housekeeping and so had to make up the room myself and was handed bedsheets to do this.  Then to further my dismay when going to shower in the morning, we realised not only did we have no fresh towels, but there was actually a hand towel hung on the back of the door, dirty from the previous guests.  After spending £80 on this room, we expected to have a clean bed and the ability to shower, we had neither. On the evening of I was told they had a new cleaning company and were not happy with their service but then via email was told their cleaning company was excellent and very reliable.. so which one is it? After complaining via email after our stay we were met with incredibly shocking customer service, who pretty much called us liars, asking if another guest could have used our room during the day and were provided with no real solution. We were told they had time stamped photos of our clean room that day that apparently the owner had done himself, which they refused to show proof of. Which leaves me questioning.. was our room just not cleaned or did somebody else have access to our room the same time as us, neither one is acceptable. I for one, will definitely never stay here again, and I strongly recommend looking elsewhere for your stay.

My husband and myself visited the gardeners inn for our niece's wedding along with many family members we decided to stay the night and looking at the website the rooms looked very nice what a disappointment the room was dark so couldn't see very well on arrival later in the evening I popped back to use the bathroom and found it very dirty no hand wash or soap the whole place was in need of a full refurb we even had to make our bed because the sheets had just been thrown on doubtful if they were even fresh I complained to the owner she just said the cleaners had let her down and was too busy with the wedding and couldn't do anything on retiring to our room decided to make a coffee found dirty cups went to reception to ask for clean ones I found another guest with the same problem again owner very apologetic same excuse I wouldn't recommend this hotel no matter what price you pay this was £80 for one night room only you expect the basic cleanliness

We had our wedding day here on April 17th, it was absolutely magical. The staff at the venue went above and beyond to ensure our day ran smoothly. They did everything we asked of them with a smile on their face, and nothing was too much trouble. Jenny was a star from start to finish, she is so kind, patient and always willing to help. She put us both at ease and made sure we were in the right place at the right time, whilst listening to us and adapting her usual methods to give us exactly what we wanted. Becky works so hard behind the scenes, she transformed an empty room into the wedding venue of our dreams. Even making sure my maid of honour had her special engraved spoon instead of a normal one! The waiting staff worked so hard, they got the food out quickly and professionally even to 80 people with so many special requirements! We know it was far from easy, but they certainly made it look easy!! The bar staff (who must've had no voice and no hearing left by midnight) were great! Taking time to congratulate us even though they must've been so very stressed with the noise and demand for drinks! The cleaning staff that we met the following morning were so lovely, stopping their usual cleaning routine to help us collect some things we left behind. The DJ was friendly and accepted all requests no matter how random they seemed! Everyone at the Gardeners Country inn made us feel like family all day long, we couldn't be happier with how our special day went and we can't thank them enough. Our special place for life.

We stayed for an evening meal, drinks, and spent the night in one of the lodges. The food here is always absolutely amazing! We try something new each time we go and have yet to be disappointed with the meals, of which there are copious amounts of, and clearly fresh from the cook! The service from every member of staff who are always so polite and friendly, as well as efficient, and the lodges themselves. It is clearly a family friendly set up, we cannot wait to come here with a few of us at some point in the summer, and are already sure there is space for the little ones, well enclosed and safe, with a good scope of further space for adults, both inside and outside. I loved the board showing everything that is coming for the year to suit everyone. The menu covers everyone, as does the atmosphere. This particular review covers the night when it wasnt so busy, just a couple of very happy groups, and it was a treat to hear them enjoying the piano and guitar from across the conservatory and just have that gorgeous laid back evening over drinks. When we did finally leave at closing, we took a bottle of wine from the bar back to the lodge, offered an ice bucket and glasses, and a nothing is too much trouble attitude. The Lodge itself was lovely. Yes, i could complain the milk for tea wasnt fresh from the cow, or the paintwork wasnt millimetre perfect, or that the light bulb wasnt 20 watts higher as an example of some of the very questionable reviews you may see..( we actually had a great time going through them and loved the responses even more!) The next morning we took a wander over to the Garden Centre next door, and had an amazing breakfast from the on site cafe to finish our break from the norm! From our experiences, and the reason we return again and again..its nothing short of just lovely so...do not base your visit on the bads! Thank you all, for the great time we had!

The room was dirty. We left our socks on because the floor was gritty. Our room was cold. The toilet had not been cleaned. The pillows were lumpy and not clean. Overall the rooms need a deep clean and a refurb. Will definately not e staying again.

Food, bar, function room and staff are perfect, apart from one newby member who didn't really know much like what an ironing board is! However, the rooms are a terrible! So many problems.... We got put in one room, the cold tap didn't even work in the bath, so we got upgraded to a bigger room while the 'maintenance guy' if you can call him that tried to fix it, thought okay thanks that's good service, but, the other room we got put it was worse. - All rooms were freezing as the heating was turned off (we had around 5/6 rooms booked out and they were all the same) all radiators were turned off, if they new a big family would be staying at least make sure the heating is put back on for when we arrive! - A woman's hair was on the floor and in the bath. - Toilet was dirty and had skidders in the bowl - Toilet seat broken, when you sat on it you slid to one side. - Cistern wonky and not attached to the wall. - Bath was disgusting, all mastic was split, mouldy and coming away from the bath/tiles. - Mould on the ceiling - Extractor fan not working as it is clogged with dust - Bath handle rusty - Grouting mouldy and discoloured - Dead flies in the corner or the room - Drawer in bedroom has a broken plank of wood on the inside and was sharp sticking up - Window blind you couldn't open or close as the pullcord wasn't attached and if you moved it by hand then it would become detached from the wall, also it was installed on a sloped roof with no clips just hooks so it just bowed and if you did want to open it then it would just hang straight as there are no runners for it. - No thermostatic valve on radiator - TV we had 2 remotes but none of them worked with it so we couldn't watch any TV or had radio playing while getting ready etc. - Stains on carpets - Various lights not working as the bulbs were blown so I took some out of the wall lights in the lounge so we could at least see walking up the stairs and in the bedroom. - Overall painting was terrible and patchy. - Floor boards creaky - Rooms not very sound proofed - Lastly the milk was out of date by over a month! It seems housekeeping is definitely not at it's finest and I would definitely not recommend anyone to stay there until it gets some sort of TLC at least. Giving 2 stars but not for the rooms.

This room was £70 a night and we had booked for two nights, and whilst I wasn’t expecting luxury I was expecting the room to be clean and to have a decent night sleep ahead of a family funeral. Having driven 8 hours from northern Scotland, all we wanted was a clean room and a decent nights sleep to be rested ahead of the funeral. The first morning we were woken at 6:30am by a delivery van arriving, reverse warning beeping followed by 15 minutes of clattering and doors banging. Then 8am a road sweeper arrived followed by an hour of cleaning the car park. Ordinarily an 8am start would not be an issue but this was on too of the 6:30 earlier wake-up call. Spoke to a lady in the car park and who worked at the hotel and was supervising the road sweeper, I explained the issues with the duvet, and then being woken up etc. she sympathised said she would speak to the cleaners about the duvet and that she had previously spoken to the delivery truck. We returned after a long day attending the funeral. We decided that we would have some drinks and a bite to eat in the pub. Given the dire state of the rooms it was preferable to sit in there than in the rooms. At 9:30pm as we were chatting, the chef appears and announced that the bar was closing. Thinking that this was quite early, we asked what time it usually closed, his response “11pm, but there’s nowt doing and we can’t keep the lights on and staff here just to serve you. But you can take your drinks back to your room” As we were leaving we heard the lady who I had spoke to in the car park the previous morning that she would have to speak to the cleaners because she’d had ANOTHER complaint about the rooms from a lady in the car park!!! If you know there’s an issue with the rooms, fix the problems!! The second morning we were woken again at 5:30am by the deliver truck, clattering of crates being rolled along the car park, opening and slamming truck doors etc. Bedroom Duvet was too small for the bed, it just covered the top of the mattress, no overhang. Only 1 bedside lamp for a double room Cobwebs, clearly been there a while which were full of dead flies Neither wall lights worked, even if they had worked only 1 had a bulb. Carpet was covered in grit. Walls paper thin we could hear very worm on the to next door. Bathroom Only 1 hand towel provided for 2 people No soap provided for the sink Sealant and grout full of black mould and split Hole in wall Toilet roll holder hanging off the wall No soap provided for the sink Paint peeling off the ceiling. The photos on the website are not recent photos, and don’t be fooled by the google reviews - they are for the pub not the accommodation. Avoid!!

Seen some negative reviews recently and was reluctant to book, after an amazing meal and atmospheric night we decided to book a luxury sweet with a whirlpool bath. Best decision ever, very clean, inviting room. Massive bed and 2 tvs! We will be back in the summer, glad we gave it a chance.

Food was lovely however the rooms need a LOT of TLC. Freezing cold rooms, mouldy bathroom, the bathroom floor was disgusting. When we turned on the bath black water initially came out. The matress on the bed practically sunk to the floor when sitting on it. Not to mention the dirt, tissues and hairs underneath the bed (only saw as I had dropped something) It really doesn't take much to give a place some tlc. Considering we had paid for a 'luxury room' with a whirlpool bath, there was certainly nothing luxury about it. Paint work is awful and bathroom ceiling was all peeling away. Certainly would never stay again and would not advise anyone to either.

Wow what a Venue. Situated in a rural part of Hull, very inviting, beatifully decorated, the grounds were lovely also. I went to the Meat Tribute Night at the Gardeners Country Inn and had the most brilliant evening. Staff were so lovely, especially the manager, they couldnt of done enough for you. We unfortuantley didnt eat - but let me say we watched some meals go out and they looked unreal! We will be back for food for sure!! I would also like to add. the function room is the perfect setting for any event, birthday, night out, and most certainly a wedding. A real Gem
