"This hotel is super convenient, just about 200 meters from Takayama Station. The location is excellent! There's a drugstore right outside and a FamilyMart, and a 7-Eleven just a short walk away. The room was really comfortable, the bed was quite big, and the view from the window was nice. Plus, it even had a washing machine and microwave! The foot bath on the top floor was perfect for a relaxing soak before heading out in the morning. And on the second floor, there's a hot spring bath and a breakfast/dinner buffet. Overall, I was very satisfied."

"Sakura Guest House is a hidden gem in Takayama. I stayed here for 4 consecutive nights. I arrived at Takayama Station by local train from Toyama, transferring at Inotani Station, a journey of about 2 hours in total, costing 1690 yen. From the East Exit of Takayama Station, I turned left and walked straight along the main road for about 700 meters, reaching the guesthouse in about 10 minutes. From the guesthouse, it's a walkable distance to tourist attractions like Miyagawa Morning Market, the historical preservation area of Machiya, Takayama Jinya, Jinya Morning Market, Hachiman-gu Shrine's grand torii gate, and Higashiyama Walking Course. It's also convenient to take the Nohi Bus to destinations like Shirakawa-go, Kamikochi, and Shinhotaka. I stayed in a mixed dormitory bunk bed on the second floor, which has 10 beds. The bedding was soft and comfortable. The entire guesthouse is clean and beautiful, with complete facilities, including a drying area. There are 4 spacious shower rooms on the first floor, and a total of 4 women's restrooms on both the first and second floors. The first floor also has a communal lounge and a common kitchen equipped with an induction cooker, refrigerator, microwave, oven, kettle, tea bags, and coffee. You can buy ingredients at a nearby large supermarket and cook your own meals. On the second floor, there's a coin-operated washing machine (300 yen per wash) and a dryer (100 yen for 20 minutes). What was truly touching and memorable was how exceptionally gentle and friendly the owners were. Their service was incredibly thoughtful and warm. Despite me not knowing English or Japanese, they patiently explained everything to me using a translator, constantly emphasizing that I should feel free to approach them with any questions. My bottom bunk (bed C) didn't have a privacy panel at the head of the bed, which I felt lacked privacy and caused disturbance when others came to this corner to retrieve their luggage. When I raised this issue with the owner, he immediately found cardboard and taped it up, allowing me to sleep peacefully. I felt very safe and warm because of this. This guesthouse is the best place to stay when traveling solo in Takayama, offering excellent value for money. I had a wonderful and pleasant trip here. I absolutely love Takayama and will definitely return to stay here again. See you next time!”"

"Arriving in Takayama by highway bus, I chose to stay at the same Residence Hotel as my previous visit. It's incredibly convenient, located just a left turn from the Nohi Bus Terminal exit, making it zero distance from both the bus and JR stations. The luxury suite is huge, featuring a balcony, four beds, and a fully equipped kitchen with pots, pans, a microwave, and a large refrigerator. The washing machine with a dryer was an absolute lifesaver. Even better, all the drinks in the fridge were complimentary, including two 2L bottles of mineral water, beer, sake, green tea, and cola. Basic condiments like salt, soy sauce, pepper, and cooking oil were also provided. There's a supermarket right next door, perfect for buying Hida beef and cooking up a feast."

"Mixed experience here. The men actually have a single station public bath set up which is obviously not a proper onsen but still useful for a hostel. The free small snacks are a nice bonus. The barbecue room is cool and the 11 am checkout should be good. Unfortunately that 11 am checkout is completely undermined by staff marching into the dorm to take care of the bedding of those who checked out hours earlier and no one can sleep through that given the construction of this building. You have to come back at 11 anyway to do my bed so why not stay out until 11 and then prepare the room then for everyone???"

"The location is excellent, just a few minutes' walk across from the station. The service was superb. The foreign front desk staff member was very enthusiastic and helpful. Besides basic check-in, he also assisted us in finding the shops we needed. Upon check-in, there were clear instructions available in various languages. Breakfast was a semi-buffet à la carte style, with three time slots to choose from. The room was clean, tidy, and spacious, exactly as pictured. Even the drinks in the mini-bar were delicious; we enjoyed buying Hida beef and cooking it ourselves. ‼️ The only drawback: there was an issue with the range hood/ventilation system in the room. Around 11 PM, a strong cooking oil smell suddenly filled the room, possibly from another guest frying meat, and it quickly spread throughout our room via the air conditioning or some other system. It was late, and we were almost asleep, so we didn't report it to the hotel directly. Secondly, if you cook meat yourself, the ventilation isn't very effective (it seems there's no range hood or it's just poor), as the room ends up smelling quite a bit. Friends planning to cook should be aware of this. Other than that, I highly recommend it."

"There's no customer service on-site; you have to call customer service via a tablet at the counter. The entire call is in English, and they'll guide you step-by-step, but it's very cumbersome. If you're not tech-savvy, you won't be able to use it at all. Besides the room rate, you'll also be charged an extra accommodation tax. **Note‼️** This hotel has no elevator, and the stairs are very steep, making it extremely difficult to carry luggage! I think it's not worth it at all. While there is Hida Old Town nearby, it closes completely after 5 PM. We arrived close to 5 PM, and there was nowhere left to explore. It was quite a shock, because the accommodation wasn't cheap, and we couldn't go shopping, so we ended up just staying in the room. Plus, the room didn't have a TV, and the bathroom was tiny and cramped. It didn't feel like a tourist area at all. This trip felt completely baffling to me. 😕"

"A very comfortable hotel, it is about a 10-minute walk to the old JR station, Takayama Old Street and Miyagawa Morning Market. I was very happy to be able to see the taro flowers in Miyagawa in late April."

"K's House Takayama Oasis is the best place to be if you're traveling around the area. I love that the kitchen is open 24 hours and all the utensils are free to use. The staff are friendly too, and the open kitchen and common room provided room for us to make new friends. They have branches all over Japan, too! I would definitely stay here again!"

"The hotel's location is good, but parking was a bit hard to find with no clear signs. Be careful with the showerhead; the water pressure was so strong it actually bounced off and hit my nose, thankfully I'm fine. The induction hob in the room didn't work – the simple buttons just wouldn't cooperate. Also, the sofa was quite stained; they might want to consider putting a cover on it."

"This is a homestay without a front desk. Normally, there will be an email to inform me of the room number and check-in password before check-in, but Ctrip did not notify me of these, and did not receive an email. After the check-in time, I had to go directly to the homestay. Fortunately, I met someone else who was staying and told me the landlord’s contact information, and also contacted the landlord and successfully checked in. The location of the homestay is very good, it is convenient to go anywhere, it is easy to find, clean, we booked a quadruple room with four single beds, the comparison is also very high, and you can cook in the homestay, we bought the local famous moth cow to eat satisfied, it is worth staying again!"
