We slept for 3 nights in the Lagoon Suite 206, right on the water and unfortunately also directly above a restaurant with outdoor seating. From 8 a.m. to midnight it was incredibly noisy and we couldn't enjoy the suite and the great view over the lagoon. Dear Turbine team: In the future, please warn your guests about this “noisy” situation in Suite 206 when checking in. You pay twice as much for a suite as for a room. Unfortunately, since the hotel was fully booked over Christmas, we had nowhere else to go.

This by far the coolest hotel we have ever stayed at . The attention to detail showcasing the old turbine power plant is unbelievable. Service and food is top notch . Our room was unbelievable so much natural light and windows and artifacts from plant throughout the room .

Wonderful Staff and Breakfast! We stayed at the Turbine for the long weekend, everything was wonderful. The only complaint I have is on the last day a manager came to rudely ask me to get off a video call with my 3 year old son in the restaurant. For that reason I will not be returning to this hotel, I felt the request unpolite and rude. If there was a complaint from another customer or guest, it could've been handled better. I also feel this was a direct attack, as the day before another guest was on a call right next to us, and there were no complaints or request for him to end the call.

One of the quirkiest stylish hotels we’ve seen . This converted power station has so many original pieces of machinery stylishly incorporated into the design of the hotel public areas and rooms . Excellent staff . Room was very comfortable and the small kitchenette is always helpful when travelling . We had breakfast and it was excellent . Short walk to two cool restaurants and a fab kids play area . Thesen island is a short bridge from Knysna and is a very manicured area with expensive properties but it grit safe and quiet - a bit of respite from the cities . The Spa is wonderful ( ask for Lydia !) . Book ahead so you can just saunter down from your room and relax . Great stopover on garden route .

Loved it at The Turbine. Beautiful hotel with beautiful views from every window. Staff are friendly. Room was clean. The spa is amazing! They also offered me a vegan breakfast when requested. Can’t wait to go back!

Stayed here overnight during a road trip along the Garden Route. A really fascinating hotel with lots of interesting history dotted around the building. Staff were very helpful and room was very good. The breakfast was good but we were a little surprised that there was no self service buffet for cold selections. Instead a collection of items was brought to us on an afternoon tea style tiered cake stand which seemed to offer limited options. The hot food choice was very good. The quirkiness of the place makes it one of the mist unique places we've stayed in.

Very well located, splendid design with many restaurants in front of the sea. The design is unique and very well done, which give a specific charm for the hotel. The area is really appreciated, lots of shops and restaurant, a good place to stay Knyzna

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at The Turbine. It's like staying in a living museum! The decor is incredible, with modern touches and the ancient generator technology on display. We booked the 2-night pamper package which really was value for money. The food is great, the service was friendly, the massage was the best I've ever had, and the room was spacious, clean and super comfortable. Can't wait to go back, seriously. The two restaurants at the hotel (Island Cafe and Gastro Pub) were also both really amazing with great food and service. We were lucky that we were there during hot days, enjoying the pool and sun loungers right on the canal.
