this is the worst hostel i have ever stayed in. upon arrival the staff were very unfriendly and somewhat rude. the facilities are awful — the bathroom smells and is very dirty and the beds are so uncomfy and not clean. there is barely anywhere to put your luggage and the only locker you are provided with is the size of a letter box outside of the room. the air con is only allowed between 4pm-10am which makes the room unbearably hot and the wifi doesn’t work from the bedroom. to make matters worse, there were bed bugs everywhere and i got bitten before noticing them. i ended up ‘sleeping’ in the lobby all night and leaving in the morning instead of staying for the two nights that i had booked!!! honestly i do not know how this has the rating that it does because i would never go back here in a million years!

Awful experience. BED BUGS!!! Floors were dirty left before even one night there and was meant to stay for 3. When we came in our sheets were dirty and stained- they changed them when we asked but did not seem happy about it. Room seemed ok until we discovered bed bugs running about and left immediately. Do not reccomend staying here

Hostel that is a little more old than it looks from the photos. There is no space to hold the bags but they provide you with a small locked space to put valuables. The showers and bathrooms are cleaned regularly but not divided between male and female. A towel is provided and the breakfast offered is really good. I recommend eating from them for dinner because the dishes are really good, cheap and of good portions The location is also excellent.

I stayed here for a week and was really enjoying myself up until the point where I got bed bugs. I noticed some wierd looking bites that to me looked like bed bug bites after a few days here. I showed the receptionist who told me it is not bed bugs, and she got quite defensive. They then let me change beds, still in the same room. The morning after I woke up with around 20 new bites and with BIG bedbug next to me. I showed them a picture, and they just kind of laughed it off. Next morning, another 20 bites had appeared, together with me finding 3 new bugs. This was my breaking point, and I started the sanitation process. I then slept in the cafeteria that night and left the morning after. Throughout this whole, very stressful process, I would've expected a little bit more of sympathy from the staff, but instead I felt quite ridiculed and felt like I was overreacting. I understand that bedbugs can be anywhere, from a luxury hotel, to a cheap hostel, but I still expect the staff to take the problem and their guests seriously, when this kind of problem arises. They started telling me that it was me that had brought the bugs there, but there is no chance because my bags where far away from the bed and i didnt have a single bite before. I do not blame the hostel for the bed bugs, but I do blame them for the way they handled the situation. They did help me wash my clothes though which was kind. Other than that, it is in a good location with very good breakfast.

I was quite disappointed with my stay at this hostel. Upon arrival, the welcome was cold, and the receptionist seemed rather haughty, judging me in an unwelcoming way. Additionally, the sanitary facilities weren’t particularly clean, and the inside of the showers was constantly damp, probably due to a lack of ventilation. The location is okay, with the beach within walking distance, but it’s not exceptional, and the hostel is quite far from the main tourist attractions. On the positive side, the cleaning staff was very friendly and smiling, which added a bit of warmth to the experience. As for the breakfast, while it was included, the space dedicated to it was quite small. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend this place to those looking for a more welcoming and comfortable experience.

Service is great at this hostel. The dorm rooms are spacious and clean. Definitely do the mangrove/skull island tour, the best thing we did in Thailand. Our tour guide was so enthusiastic and friendly, showed us all the best places to see. Breakfast here is amazing.

DO NOT STAY - THE WORST HOSTEL I HAVE EVER STAYED IN. We checked in after one of our group had been hospitalised for food poisoning, which the staff were aware of. It was fine until about 9pm when the water stopped working. We had no running water all night, and the rest of our group had developed food poisoning, the toilets wouldn’t flush, we couldn’t wash our hands. The hostel was inhumane. This seems to be a regular issue aswell (there are reviews on hostel world to prove it) We went down in the morning to let the receptionist know we were unhappy, to which she responded in the rudest way possible. She has a major attitude problem and could seriously do with some lessons in manners and humanity. She told us that we should leave if we are unhappy, and we shouldn’t have booked it if we were ill (which we developed overnight) If I could give 0 stars I would. The conditions were inhumane and the toilets were overflowing with poo and sick. She wouldn’t even leave the air con on for an hour when we were throwing up

AVOID. Would rate 0. The receptionist is very rude. The water supply was cut off over night leaving 3 of us ( with food poisoning ) unable to shower, clean our teeth, wash our hands or flush the toilet. While I understand the food poisoning is not any of the staff’s fault, when we approached the receptionist with the issue she laughed in our face and told use we should have booked a private room, which is ironic as there would be no water supply there either. The water supply cut off at 9pm and was still not working at 12pm the next day. We had to leave early due such an inconvenience. Would not recommend at all, the rudest staff. The toilet area smelt revolting as people were just using the toilet like ourselves with no flush option available. Inhumane conditions for all regardless of the food poisoning. The toilets were over flowing with poo and sick which was left over night. Worst hostel conditions I’ve seen in the whole of south east Asia

We spend 5 nights here, and if we wouldn’t have to move on, we would easily add some other nights. By far the best hostel I experienced in Thailand. To start with the rooms. The beds are comfortable and big, there is much space to store you stuff and there is a huge guarantee for privacy. Moreover the rooms are clean and quiet. The sanitaries offer much space, they are very modern and clean. There are many soaps, shampoos etc. for free! The staff is so friendly and helped us with every request, like bookings, scooters, tips for the island etc. They offer free breakfast, which is a very good breakfast with scrambled/fried eggs, fresh fruits, toast, coffee, juice and tea. Never been to a hostel where they offer such a good breakfast. Moreover this place makes it very easy to socialise and meet new people in the lobby. It’s located direct to the beach and by just a little walk or scooters you can go everywhere. Everybody coming to Ko Lanta and looking for a place, come to Hub of Joys. I promise you won’t regret it.
