Hotels in Choeng Mon Beach, Koh Samui

On the best part of Choengmon beach. Rooms are very large with jacuzzi bath, rain shower, nice balcony. Thai style hotel. Stayed here twice and loved it. Staff very friendly and nice. Across the street are Chinese BBQ pork noodles, convenience store, and Thai restaurants. Not a modern hotel but has a Thai feel. Lots of free events like towel folding class, fruit carving classes for free. Recommend the hotel!

We took my brother to the FishHouse on 27 December to celebrate his 60th birthday. Party of 10. We had an early booking of 6.30pm as my brother was not well. The service was very rushed. The waiters told us at the outset that the restaurant would be very full and busy later and they advised us to order quickly. This help kill the welcome. The restaurant never got very busy so I don't know why they told us this in the first place. It made us feel rather unwelcome. The starters were good. However, some of the main courses were disappointing. Four of us ordered the ”paella” dish, two the squid ink paella and two the foie gras paella. Paella is a Spanish sea food dish. It is usually served about 1.5 inches deep, heaving in seafood such as prawns, squid, etc. This seemed like a good choice as we were in a fish restaurant. Paella was listed on the menu to ”serve two”. I have no idea why. They were tiny. A single adult could easily eat one and still feel hungry. Annoying. It was nothing like the paella we have eaten in Spain. There was a thin dry layer of rice in the bottom of the pan. The squid ink paella could hardly be described as heaving with seafood. There were four mussels on top. The rice did not contain any seafood. As to the ”foie gras paella”, we expected this would be both seafood and have foie gras. However, the ”paella” had no seafood at all. Again, it was just a thin layer of rice along the bottom of the pan with a piece of foie gras on top. I don't see how one can have a ”paella” with no sea food. It is self contradictory. The staff should have warned us that the so-called ”paella” contained no sea food. We felt this was a disappointing effort for what was meant to be special occasion. I had specially recommended the place as we had a good time when we stayed there during the year. We emailed the GM, but he/she did not even do us the courtesy of a reply.

We stayed at this newly built hotel for 5 Nights in October 22 which is usually OFF season (instead of offering for free upgrade they asked us 300 Thai bath for an upgrade). the hotel is extremely beautiful, but location is not good, even for 7/11 Shop you need to walk for 15 min up and down hill. there is no restaurant for dinner outside the hotel. No free shuttle to main shopping area (Central Sumai). rooms are nice and clean (no coffee creamer though they send you COLD milk in your room). there are few areas that need to be improved. House keeping is average. All the staff is very polite and helpful. we had free buffet breakfast which was bellow Average. our stay was long 5 Nights and during our stay we never ever had HOT tea or COFFEE. it always took at least 15 minutes for them to serve you coffee. Breakfast scene is pretty chaotic . pools are very very nice and clean, they have very small private beach. but the view from each room specially the lobby is to die for. overall i will still give it 8/10

Drop your expectations to the floor; and you might just enjoy it. Ferry pickup (driver not found) Our power was taken out by a storm, which was very quickly resolved, and the staff were lovely about it. The room aircon broke so we switched rooms, they offered us 2x 30m massages in the Melati spa which was beautiful, and added buffet breakfasts to the bookings of our friends which was nice. The aircon in the 2nd room didn’t work either, it blew air but the temp didn’t drop The pool was green and unclean, asked for it to be cleaned and they just turned on the inbuilt filter / jets - didn’t get the dirt out of the pool. Finally our bath water was brown, residual issue from the storm 3 nights earlier, but nobody thought to ensure the water pipes were clean? No wonder we didn’t feel clean after our showers! We didn’t end up using the bath, although they had repairmen come at 10:30pm to sort it out for us, and they did get the water running clear. The staff were all wonderful, I can’t stress that enough, they were absolutely lovely. The issues we had were with the facilities / storm, and our pool not being clean. The resort is ageing, so the staff are frantically running around to repair it. We booked through trip, this is the only way we could get a partial (20%) refund on our booking. The buffet breakfast is great, as is the swim up bar. So it’s a roulette resort, you may have no issues and you may have many.

We have just returned from a 12 night stay at the Tongsai Bay. As returning guests we knew to expect an excellent service across the board. However what we didn’t expect was that they have managed to improve on what we already thought was perfection! The Garrya rebrand seems to have complemented the Tongsai, without detracting from the essence of the original concept. The rooms have been re-vamped but the upgrade is very much in keeping with the eco friendly jungle location. It was good to see that the natural tones and furnishings remain. Many of the long-standing staff are still there, and the new additions in staff provide the same faultless service with a warm smile on their faces. Every single member of staff was exceptional! It would be unfair to list individual staff as it is obvious that all departments work together as one team under the expert guidance of Manuel and Mark. I have yet to stay in another hotel where senior management get so involved. The main improvement for us this time was the food, which was already very good. The Tongsai have definitely upped their game here. every single meal we ate was truly delicious. Overall and exceptional experience, we wouldn’t hesitate in recommending to anyone. Thank you to everyone at the Tongsai for making our holiday absolutely perfect. We look forward to seeing you again next year!

Excellent stay at this hotel. The staff make it all worthwhile in particular the staff at The Level Lounge - Selena, Banana, Eye, Bay, Makam just to name a few. They were so accommodating and ensured that we had vegetarian food for our group at every afternoon tea and evening cocktail. The pool area is great for families and has a large shallow area for babies to splash around in. Special mention to pool staff Bow who works his socks off to happily accommodate for every request. The pool access rooms are large, spacious and have everything you need although I believe they could be updated and modernised. Overall a fantastic stay and we really hope to be back soon

I got the suite with the pool, it does not look like the photos. I had a pretty high traffic area where my pool faced, and there’s loud music at the restaurant next door, last thing I wanted when I was hoping for isolation after 8 weeks of rough work on the road. A door was missing in my bedroom and maintenance had to come reinstall it on my second day. Spa never had an availability during my stay, and buggies are required to go anywhere in the park (unless roaming in the heat is your thing). The service was slow at times (I’d often come back to my room and see room service plates stacked outside for a later cleanup) - but my room was meticulously cleaned each day and the buggy staff were incredibly friendly.

This is a super little resort. It strikes just the right balance. It offers a tranquil setting, great yoga, nice accommodation, a wonderful spa and really nutritious healthy food. The staff are nothing short of fantastic. Nothing is too much trouble. Just a few little things could be improved upon - the rule that there must be a minimum of two people signed up in advance for extra curricula activities to take place is frustrating. Also the ceiling fan in the room is too fast and you cannot control the speed. This would be a nice alternative to the somewhat noisy air conditioning. But overall lovely retreat and I will be back.

The price/performance ratio is not high! Don't expect an ocean view The view is great! There are too many stones on the beach and you won't go down! There are more mosquitoes at dusk! The water quality of the swimming pool in the room is not clean! The water quality of the hotel is also very unclean! Breakfast is average! But the service attitude of the staff is very good! Willing to help! There are other places suitable for taking pictures too!

I read many reviews about this resort and studied the Mantra Samui website, but never learned until after I booked (4 nights stay) my room that they had cancelled , during Covid, the regular shuttle that took guests down the hill to Fisherman Villa. I learned this because I called the hotel before my trip to ask some questions and also ask how to reserve a place on their shuttle. The resort does have one auto/driver that will drive you down to the bottom of the hill if it is there, and if it is not picking up someone at the airport. The shuttle delivers you directly to the bottom of the hill, is pretty much is just a local road. Then you can wave down a taxi and negotiate the price. Some fun! The Mantra Sumai should update their website to say the regular shuttle has been cancelled, and replaced by their maybe available one car. Continuing my story... We booked a massage at another hotel that is about 20 minutes away, and gave ourselves one hour to get there. So the night before we reserved to get the ride down to the bottom of the hill for the next day afternoon. When we went to reception, we were informed there was an accident, which was a flat tire, and the tire 'might' be fixed in half an hour and then another 20 minutes to get back to the Mantra. They apparently felt no responsibility to contact us. Just wait for the guests to show up and then tell them. They felt no responsibility to call the driver for any update. They then offered to call a taxi, but that would take about 20 minutes to arrive. Also when you call a taxi there is no opportunity for negotiation. My hour was dwindling. Well 20 is better than maybe 30 + 20 minutes. So they called the taxi. Luckily the Mantra driver showed up after 15 minutes, and the taxi was cancelled. My conclusion, after all the interfaces with reception, is they have a poor sense of responsibility and lacking the ability for logical thinking to provide a good guest experience. There are other examples beyond the above. Our suite room was in good condition, and everything functioning. Well, except the phone did not work, but I did not need that. The suite has a king size bed and a separate built in bed in the back of the living room. OK, so 4 people can stay. But the flaw in the suites is there is only a 2 person love seat to sit on. There is no chair, and no desk. It is no fun to use your laptop when the coffee table level is below your knees. A simple 4 leg table for a desk, and a simple chair would be nice, and not cost very much. They do have an on-site co-work room somewhere, but I did not use it. I think it is an extra cost and I did not have that much work to do anyway. The highlight of the Mantra Samui was the included breakfast. There are many cooked to order choices plus a buffet of juices, fruits, cereals, yogurt, pastries, and several breads you can toast yourself. We tried every item on the breakfast menu and all were nicely done and tasty. Very good coffee and tea made to order i
