Extremely satisfied... JR (hotel shuttle) offered pick-up and drop-off services, and the service was absolutely amazing! It's a historic hot spring inn... though the room was quite cold in winter, even with the AC on. We pretty much relied on shivering and hot spring soaks, haha! My advice to fellow travelers: bundle up!

A secret hot spring with a 1300-year history, an absolutely fantastic experience! The hotel is clean, tidy, spacious, and bright, the food is delicious, and the hot spring washes away all worries. Excellent value for money!

I chose three hot spring hotels this time, as I always do when I visit. This one was by far the worst of them all. The Japanese dolls and paintings in the hallway were absolutely terrifying and gave me the creeps. Coupled with the hotel's 1300-year history, that long corridor was genuinely spooky. The walk to the dining area and the baths was incredibly long. The lobby had a strange incense smell, but it was those eerie dolls in the hallway that scared me to death; it was just too much! On the plus side, the hotel is conveniently located near the Traditional Craft Village, and they offer shuttle services to Kuritsu and Kaga. But honestly, it was so scary, I'll never book an old, historic hotel again.

Staff are very welcoming and some can communicate in English. This onsen town seems quiet but the ryokan itself is good enough for a stay-in trip to relax and use the onsen. Try to visit Natadera temple before you check-in.

The room was considered large for a hot spring hotel. It's supposedly a 1300-year-old hotel, and many European and American groups come here. The location is a bit out of the way, and I don't know how the hotel advertises itself to attract so many people. Transportation: We took a taxi from Komatsu Station, which cost 6400 yen – painful! Actually, you can take the train from Komatsu Station one stop to Kuritsu Station and then take a taxi, which would be much cheaper. The hotel also offers a pick-up service; you need to check their website for details. Highlights: Their outdoor hot spring was incredibly hot and invigorating; I couldn't forget it after soaking in it. Their courtyard is worth a visit; it's small and very elegant. Complaints: Dinner was really bad. They even had blackthroat fish, but you had to grill it yourself – a waste of good food for someone like me who's terrible at cooking.

I came here because of its supposedly old-fashioned atmosphere, but the rooms were a bit run-down. Actually, the "old-fashioned" aspect refers to the feeling of antiquity, not the condition. The beef for dinner was slightly subpar; considering I'm staying in Japan, it was far inferior to top-grade beef. The bathhouse was quite nice. Other than that...

We spent five days at the Fashi Hot Springs Hotel and had a wonderful time! The hotel boasts a 1,300-year history, and the entire property is surrounded by its own courtyard. Walking through the hotel's corridors and courtyards, the beautiful combination of ancient trees, small bridges, a lighthouse, and a fish pond all speaks volumes of the hotel's history. The rooms, while a bit dated, are distinctly unique. The breakfast and dinner are plentiful and made with fresh ingredients. Every staff member was incredibly welcoming, especially Ms. Yao Yuzhu, who spoke some Chinese and clearly loved her job. She provided a brief introduction to the hotel and recommended nearby attractions, making us feel incredibly welcome. Before we left, the hotel manager presented us with a lovely souvenir, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

By chance, I ended up staying at a historic inn for three days and two nights. What I liked about it was that even if you didn't tell the staff your arrival time, they would do their best to greet you when you arrived, and it seemed like they made the same effort to see you off when you left. However, they don't keep track of where guests' shoes are, so if you're in a hurry, it might be easier to do it yourself. The hot springs were also very pleasant.
What I found a bit questionable, as others have mentioned, was that we found hair in the side dishes on two occasions. The bathroom floor in our room creaked so loudly that it was irritating. Also, the tap water had a metallic taste, even after gargling, so if you're sensitive to that, I wouldn't recommend drinking it. Because our bedroom was on the second floor, the light was shining right at our head, making it too bright and making it difficult to sleep, and some of the lights in the room didn't work. The staff went and fixed some of them. I had saved the one-day supply of coffee amenity I'd planned to drink all at once on my last day, but I didn't use it, and there wasn't any left for the second day. So I asked an elderly man who happened to be near the reception desk for a second day's supply, explaining the reason. He reluctantly handed it to me, saying, "It's okay once, but you'll have to pay for anything after that." If you don't want to be bothered by the amenities provided for your stay, I recommend removing any unused amenities from their designated areas.
It may have been a coincidence, but during my stay, the staff were mostly young foreigners and older, with hardly any mid-career staff, and the service felt inconsistent.
My three-day, two-night stay honestly made me question what it means to be a traditional, established inn.
I didn't have time to see the gardens, so they're not included in my review.

A historic ryokan with 1,300 years of history. The service felt much simpler than in the YouTube videos. Still, the food was good. It was so big that it seemed difficult to turn on the heaters in all the indoor spaces, so the hallways and lobby were very cold. There was a lot of snow, so we couldn't go out to the garden. There were many regrets, but the kaiseki in the private room for our team was very impressive. The hot spring water was so-so. If the price was right, I would go again.

The facilities are a bit old, the room is spacious, the room has a bit of odor, the hot spring is ok, the shower is a bit old, and some are not working well. There are small debris on the path to the open-air hot spring. The food is worth it.
