This temple stay is amazing. Vegetarian breakfast and dinner was great. The morning prayer and fire ritual was great to take part in. They also offered an afternoon mediation tutorial. There was a night tour for the cemetery, however I did not take part. It was a little concerning that the English tour was ¥1000 yen more than the Japanese tour. Overall I highly recommend this place.

The temple offers a unique stay experience with many items to experience. The receptionist can speak English. The location is great. But the soundproofing of the room is very poor, you can hear the noise from next door at night.

Especially different accommodation experience. Surrounded by monasteries and being in a Buddhist resort, it is awe-inspiring. A series of activities such as meditation and chanting are arranged in the temple. Follow the monks in the monastery to do Buddhist deeds at the prescribed time. The food is vegetarian, very light and full. The door of the room is unlocked, but there is a safe in the room. Public toilets and public baths are fairly convenient.

Lovely experience staying in the temple. The building is lovely and the room was a nice size (I chose a family room for a single) but may have been small for more than two people. The room was cozy with a lovely view of the gardens and it was warm with its own heater (note the building is not heated, only the rooma are - take warm clothes if it is winter). The shared bathroom was nice and very clean. The food was tasty (breakfast moreso than dinner). It was interesting attending the afternoon meditation and morning prayers and fire ceremony. The staff were friendly and helpful. Also, I did the night tour of the cemetry (run by the temple) and it was definitely worthwhile. I'd definitely go back to this temple.

I wish we’d spent more time here and in Koyasan! The temple stay was so comfortable and experiential, with beautiful views everywhere we turned. It is also right on the main street, within easy walking distance to the main attractions such as the Okunoin Cemetery (in fact, the Cemetary night walk starts here). This is a special highlight among the many great things we’ve done in Japan!

Fabulous staff/monks
Very attentive.
The meditation, morning prayers, fire cermony and meals were a highlight.

Really lovely temple accommodation with friendly monks and an excellent vegetarian dinner. Just be warned in winter the complex is mostly not heated (heaters are provided in rooms, but they’re kerosene so you have to be careful) and toilets/sinks are shared. Bathing is onsen style which I liked a lot. Views from some of the rooms are lovely.
