Mutiara Taman Negara

Absolutely love this hotel. Its located at the heart of the national park! Park center is also located within the resort, all the nature walks are literally a stone throw away. If you were to stay elsewhere, you have to cross the river. Breakfast and dinner were amazing! The jungle walk, late berkoh boat ride and night boat ride are absolutely must! Boat rides seat 4pax, so if you are in a party of 4 will be the best else you would have to find others to share or pay for the whole boat. River ferry to the village is just Rm1 each way. 1min ride and a avaliable readily, we didn't had to wait at all. In my opinion this is the beat place to stay in.

Good hospitality and many activities can done

It was a relaxing trip. Canopy is fun and worth going for. Activities are a bit expensive.

The rooms are musty, the floors are not maintained properly, the restaurant service is very poor, looks like they dont care, they get a lot of business weather they want or no, so they dont bother. The place is a paradise but the hotel can make it home for the guest, unfortunately its not, car parking is a hassle, there is no one to guide you when you arrrive near the river, very very poorly handled. there is 90% scope of improvement,

We stayed at the Mutiara Taman Negara for 2 nights as part of their explorer package. The accomodation was a family chalet which had 2 double beds and 2 single beds and was fine for our family of 4. The furniture and bathroom was a bit dated but the room was comfortable enough, clean and had good aircon. The Mutiara has the benefit of being in the Taman Negara national park, you get there by boat (1 RMB per person) from the jetty at Kuala Tahan. The resort is nicely laid out fitting in aesthetically well among the trees. As part of the package, buffet meals were included in the restaurant. The food was fairly simple with a small nos of options but it was tasty and worked for us. There is also an a la carte menu available too. The service was vey good. All the staff were friendly and helpful and check in and check out was very efficient. The tours were the highlight of our stay. It was great experience to do the jungle walk and canopy walk, very atmospheric and also satisfying completing the hikes in the sweltering heat .. not too many places in the world you can experience trekking in the rainforest. Though you can do it yourself it was good to have a guide as well to show us the different plants and wildlife (mainly birds and insects). Also the boat ride along the river and swimming in the fresh water at Lata Berkoh to finish off the days activity was a real highlight. Overall I would highly recommend Mutiara Taman Negara.. one of the highlights of our trip to Malaysia.

It was good. Room as advertised - went for a basic one, if satellite TV is your thing then upgrade but ours was clean and had aircon and a balcony overlooking the river and usual stuff like kettle, TV, fridge, etc. Did the 2N3D package which was fine. We parked hire car in 'town' car park after leaving luggage by 'ferry', got the boat over river for 1rm pp, hotel took luggage from dock to our room no problem. Package included night jungle walk, day jungle walk incl canopy (we didn't go all the way to top of hill which is an optional, hot hike), and afternoon boat trip/walk/swim (walk is 20 mins each way, mostly ok but a bit of scrambling required). All do-able even though we are 56/63 and built for comfort, not for speed, with dodgy knees. Most walks within immediacy of resort are on boardwalk, so provide even footing (with some steps). Food on package is buffet (1 meat, 1 fish, 1 veg, pasta, sauce, salads, extras like pickles, soup and bread, plus cake-y puddings and fruit, water, tea and coffee included, breakfast is usual fare). Also a la carte menu with eg Western child-friendly choices like sandwiches and pizza, plus beverages eg alcoholic and soft drinks, on pricy side eg 27 rm for a can of tiger beer, but remember there is a fridge in the room ...There are other trips available outside the package eg night cruise, rapids (in season), plus more stuff you can book in the friendly village over the river (including a place that does traditional massage on the high street and river restaurants literally 1 RM away by boat). If you have mobility restrictions know there are about 60 steps from jetty up to resort, and ask for a room near reception. And yes, all good, enjoyed it, especially the sounds of the jungle.

Very nice location, but need some more maintenance for the wooden Cottages. National park fees cheap, don't expect other animals than birds and monkeys but unforgettable fauna and flora. Food quality not bad but tasteless. Worth to make a trip to the restaurant across the river. Room boys not trustworthy took one packet cigarette and opened a box with dates and eat one out of our bags.
