Hotel Grand Continental Kuching Reviews

This is a dated hotel. Throughout the whole hotel, from the lobby to the bedrooms, there is a stale smell of oldness. The staff are trying their best to help but their appears a lack of enthusiasm and passion. There is an outdoor pool but no indoor one, and this ia unmanned and quiet small for the hotel size. The doorman is friendly. Menus are repetitive after a few days. This would be a great hotel if the owners invested a little into modernising and maintenance.

Nice hotel and comfortable just old style and some facilities need to upgrade to modern style, value for money if stay for one or two day.

The hotel so clean and the room so cozy. Feeling relaxing with nice viewing from room hotel that can see sunset and sunrise. Superb nice!!!

The overall staff services provided is excellent including the receptionists, male and female,all of them are showing me their smiling face while asking for information especially Robert, allaisteir and few female, l can’t remember her names. Room facility is a bit run down and no renovation done. Hotel building exteriors looks good but room interior is with 80s furniture . The water colour is yellow especially the toilet and wash basin, l need to flush for 5 6 times, then the water becomes clearer. Bath towel upon request from laundry , not available in the room. The bathtub is leaking at the corner edges each time we took our shower, the floor nearby the toilet bowl will be watery and can’t comfortably use the toilet as our bare foot will get wet. With the rate l paid through trip.com is still acceptable. Housekeeping forgot to provide the daily drinking water for my 2nd day but managed to have it after inform receptionist. Eatery areas can be find easily, there is one infront of the hotel ( famous for Sarawak laksa)and across the road, commercial shop lots with a lot of kopitiam and aircond restaurants they upgraded our room due to running high occupancy ( association rooms booking)

I love this hotel even though it is not the latest modern hotel & located along the Sarawak waterfront . I find the 10 mins walk to the waterfront most refreshing & enjoyable as there are many things to see & interesting local food outlets to try. The deluxe room that we stayed in was very spacious with a bath tub & complete toiletries which one does not automatically find in a modern hotel of the same category

Need major refurbishment. Staffs at the reception should be more friendly. The doorman is a sight to the sore eyes. Very welcoming. Breakfast buffet were not bad. But the hotel is too old even for business travellers. Best avoid it if u r on vacation mood. Thank you for the big room ☺️

The room is spacious. Quite comfortable. Many parking lots available to the travellers who use car. My problem is the old fashion key to open the room door manually instead of hotel card. Sometimes a bit hard to open the door. However, there is an instruction displays on the door "Turn to the right". Still, I am clumsy to use the hotel key.

Spacious room. Neat & tidy. Nice city view from the room (higher floor as requested). But the housekeeper keeps giving us only 2 towels instead of 3 because we booked for 3 pax. Breakfast is tasty. Service from the restaurant & front desk are good 👍👍👍👍

Only given basic toiletries, no toothbrush set given. Aircond not fully function. About 15 minutes walking distance to riverbank. Has chicago and secret recipe about 10 minutes walk.

Its an old hotel, probably had seen better days years ago. However, location was great as it is close to town & room was spacious. Special shoutout to doorman, very friendly.

I recently stayed at the Grand Continental Hotel during my trip to Kuching and had a fantastic experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and always ready to assist with anything I needed. Having issues with AC in the first room, however hotel staffs changed to next room on request. Overall good experience.
