OMO5 Kumamoto by Hoshino Resorts

It's a 5-10 minute walk from Kumamoto Castle. There are department stores and a wide variety of restaurants nearby.

The hotel is located in the city center, within walking distance of Kumamoto Castle, and directly above a shopping street. The room was clean and comfortable, and sitting by the large window watching the street view was very relaxing. The housekeeping was thoughtful, and every evening there was a Taiko performance and free sake tasting. In the lobby, there's an outdoor terrace tea area where you can comfortably unwind. The only minor drawback is that the room isn't very spacious, making it a bit difficult to fully open a large suitcase.

I stayed here for 6 nights and only found out after checking in that rooms are only cleaned every four days. On top of that, the door lock broke on the very first day and staff had to come fix it. Overall, the stay was just so-so.

An excellent experience! Prime location, right below Kumamoto Shopping Center. The room was stylish, fragrant, and clean. The inspiring performance was fantastic. Definitely has that Hoshino Resorts vibe!

Staying at OMO5 Kumamoto by Hoshino Resorts was a truly delightful surprise! The hotel boasts an excellent location, right above a bustling shopping district in the city center, making it incredibly convenient for shopping and dining. What impressed me most was the exclusive outdoor viewing terrace – I could sip coffee while gazing at the magnificent Kumamoto Castle, and both the daytime and nighttime views were absolutely captivating. The room design, with its warm wooden tones and modern feel, was thoughtfully laid out, making for a relaxing and comfortable stay. Combining Hoshino Resorts' signature attentive service with excellent value for money, this is definitely my top recommendation for accommodation when visiting Kumamoto. I highly recommend it to everyone! However, there's one thing I need to mention: even when the air conditioning wasn't on, there were constant drafts of cool air, as if cold air was wafting up from the floor. This was quite uncomfortable.

The hotel is very close to the bus stop and Kumamoto City Tram, and directly connected to Shimotori street downstairs, where you can even catch a show in the evening. Kumamoto Castle is also just a 10-15 minute walk away.

The hotel boasts an excellent location, just a 10-minute walk from Kumamoto Castle. It's also right next to Shimotori Shopping Street and Tsuruya Department Store, making dining and shopping incredibly convenient. We stayed here for 3 nights, using it as a base to visit Mount Aso and Takachiho Gorge. The only minor downside is that the hotel doesn't have its own parking, so we had to find a spot nearby.
