Coconut Lagoon Kumarakom- CGH Earth

We had an incredible holiday at this charming resort in India, and we cannot recommend it enough! From the moment we arrived, the warmth of the staff and the local ***ager made us feel truly welcomed. The whole team from receptionists, the service for breakfast, lunch, teatime and dinner, the cooking trainers, Ayurveda massage team, the cleanig and support team up to the team on the pool, entertainment, all of them are doing everything to ensure a pleasant and unforgetable stay. And the culinary experience is exceptional; the chefs and their team are preparing daily a delightful and rich of variations and array of dishes that satisfied our taste palete very much, and with special attention to my health concerns. Finally, we would like to thank very much for the warmth of the entire team, and we know, that we bring home to Austria brilliant memories of our wonderful time here. R. & R.

Beautiful location set on the Appelley backwaters. Friendly staff and clean rooms but they are quite dated. We stayed in one of the bungalows. I loved the outside bathroom but it was a bit of a tripping hazard for my 75yr old mother to get to especially during the night. Beds were awful. About 3ft off the floor which is not ideal for an elderly/less agile person to get in/out of. Also they were very uncomfortable, like sleeping on a hard board. Overall we enjoyed our stay, the only thing that lets this place down is the beds.

Had the best time here it was soo peaceful and nice. Definitely coming back here again. We did kayaking ***** woth the instructor Alshay and it was simply amazing! You should also definitely try out the off beat cycling tour in the morning which is conducted by Vishnu! He took us through the village and we thoroughly enjoyed.

Located in a beautiful place facing sunset Coconut Lagoon is a blessed place on earth. I came for an Ayurvedic cure and doctors, treatments, staff, cooking were simply excellent. My room was a located in a historical ***sion. The bed was super comfortable, WiFi, AC perfect and the plus was the outdoor bathroom I enjoyed so much. Everything was kind simple delicate and super clean. I enjoyed activities such as sunset cruise, birdwatching, butterfly watching and the pleasure of danse and music live every evening. It felt very good to be on a cure in a luxurious and normal environment. I am a lot more healthy than when I arrived! Painless and full of gratitude!

Beautiful property, great ambience and good food. Lots of activities that free and a few paid activities as well. Tour guides were knowledgeable and helpful. Wish we had more time to spend here. There were cultural programmes in the evening too..

Amazing property, pure natural beauty. Definitely Recommended. Also they have ***y activities arranged for the guest. Especially do not miss the Cultural Program and sun sight view in the evening as well as bird watching activity with Pratheesh in the morning.

Already the approach to the hotel by boat is a unique feature for a very unique hotel. Settled in a beautiful garden at the shore of the Kumarakom Lake you can enjoy spectacular views onto the lake and the bird sanctuary opposite the hotel. The rustic bungalows that resemble old heritage houses are spread out in the vast garden area ***** the various canals that are going through the resort. The wooden interior of the bungalows is cosy and best feature is the open-air bath room and shower. The hotel offers a large garden swimming pool plus a lot of activities as kayaking, stand-up paddle, yoga, bird watching tour, sunset cruise, cooking classes and ***y more. Further you can wander in the butterfly garden and observe so ***y species of birds in the garden around. For more information of the flora and fauna the hotel has its own nature guides. Meals were served in the lofty main restaurant either a-la-carte or as a buffet. Further you have the choice of an a-la-carte fish restaurant. Food was very delicious and always super fresh. Very nice foodie featuer is also the daily afternoon tea that is coming here by boat made from a local lady. Another outstanding feature of the hotel is the amazing staff. They were always so friendly and attentive. All in all a very unique experience in this outstanding property. Like all the other hotels of the cgh brand they follow a very impressive sustainability program over here - one nice feature for example is that they do not have any plastic bottles. The hotel offers filtered drinking water in glass bottles to all its guest free of charge....but that is only one feature of a whole green concept. That is why I love the cgh brand so much!

Extremely well maintained, very hospitable and excellent food. The bird watching was excellent with Prateesh. We saw 32 varieties and some that are quite rare. He explained the butterfly park very well. The tabla player was superb and so willing to share his knowledge. Just a few of the items that we enjoyed.

The Coconut Lagoon is a magical place - unique resort concept - especially for all the exciting activities it offers! Even on a short 1-2 day stay, you can learn A LOT about the local culture and nature. I advice everyone to experience at least one of the activities such as village tour guided by a naturalist, kayaking on the lake by the sunset, and tour of Butterfly garden. I did an early morning electric bike tour “off beat village experiences” - guided by the naturalist Vishnu - and he has shown me so much regarding fauna and flora - and explained the habits of the people of the surrounding area. It was fascinating. Going on electric bikes is very easy, so don’t worry about the effort - it’s almost effortless. Through the eyes of the local guide you get the glimpse of what it is to be living here. I also loved the kayaking/ paddling experience guided by Akshay. We went quite far in the lake and admired the colors of the sky and water at the sunset. Paddling was an easy activity - and yet it gets you some extra movements. I totally loved it! Guided tour of the Butteffly gardenby Anjana was lovely: she is very passionate about nature and its secrets, and she conveyed this passion fantastically! There are also dance shows, wonderful indian music to accompany the diner; and plenty of other extra experiences. The rooms, the products, the food, the eco-friendly philosophy of this place is outstanding! I have rarely encountered such complete and exquisite tourist experience that immerses you completely in local surroundings! Hesitate no more - go for it! It is totally worth it!!!! MY ADVICE: Take extra activities which are guided and enhance your stay in the region!
