Lancaster Hotel Kumasi

Very dirty and stained carpet with bad smell. I cleaned the bathroom myself before using it. Poor maintenance throughout. My husband was locked in the bathroom and it took the maintenance crew more time 30mins to open the bathroom door to let him out. Safety concerns were raised and I was informed by some staff that, these complaints have been made to senior management but nothing has been done about it. Some of the staff were very rude and unprofessional especially some of the catering staff. I think this company’s license needs to be revoked until proper maintenance is done. It is not safe for anyone to stay in this hotel.

Needs a bit of TLC. Lancaster haven't spent a huge amount on their latest addition. Its a dated, tired, old dame. Nit much choice in Kumasi. As always hoteliers spends on lobby, bar and that's it. The restaurant totally lacks character and warmth. Rooms are pretty unchanged since last visit - maybe a touch up here or there. The floor lamp shade, as attached, sums it all up. What would it cost to do the right thing?

Rooms dated. Carpet stained. Beds decent sheets old and worn. Restaurant buffet good selections but expensive. Bar area serves food. The travel to Kumasi on bus was hard very heavy construction. It made ride very uncomfortable. Staff were very attentive. Busboy broke roller on one of my suitcases.

Facility management should be better, one room AC is not working, next one toilet is not flushing, everybody just has a straight face from the reception to house keeping, environment is neat but staff could be a bit more friendly

There isn't much choice of good 4 or 5 star hotels in kumasi. The Lancaster used to be the Golden Tulip, a firm who neglected to update their properties. The property overall is similar to a 1980s UK Trust House Forte. Functional. Lacking style. Built for corporate commercial traveller. Kumasi lacks warmth and atmosphere. The dining room is like an army mess tent or a huge Chinese restaurant. Noisy. Unappealing. The bar was best area although it got busy when the never ending parade of butt enhanced guests were being media reviewed at its entry. Staff in general were good. Helpful. My superior room according to the website should feature a minibar (fridge broke), inroom safe (nowhere to be found), comfortable king bed (yes), balcony with chairs overlooking pool and lush gardens (overlooked aircon plant and workshop. Pool could be seen if you dangled on balustrade. See pics ). Bathroom tiles need attention. High security bag and body scan on arrival seems excessive and perhaps it would be nice if there was a small welcome sign explaining why? I am sure the management wish to spend money brightening up this property. It really needs it. So I give it a low 3 star.

Lancaster hotel has a serene environment and a stunning service. Staff are very well trained to handle all situations. They have a nice pool, spacious car park which is almost always full in the evenings and their events are classy.

Unfortunately, the experience fell far below expectations — particularly for a hotel positioned as a 5-star establishment. The room I was assigned was dated and poorly maintained. The air conditioning system was faulty and remained at an uncomfortably low temperature throughout the night, making it difficult to sleep. To make matters worse, upon check-out, the receptionist casually acknowledged the issue by saying, “I heard the AC in your room was not working, why didn’t you come to report?” This response reflected a lack of accountability and emotional intelligence, which was both surprising and disappointing. The grilled chicken I ordered at the hotel restaurant had an unpleasant smell and was unappetizing. Overall, I found the value for money to be extremely poor. I hope you take this feedback seriously and make the necessary improvements to ensure future guests have a more comfortable and professional experience.

My room could do with a mini fridge. The hotel is undergoing renovation without closing and so there was a strong smell of fresh paint in the room and hallway which could be irritating to the lungs. Hope the bedding furniture will also be updated with the renovation.

My family and I were booked at this hotel by our tour guide with the intent of staying three nights. We left after one night and found different accommodations. Upon entering the hotel you must first go through a metal detector and your bags through an x-ray. The room we got was a nice size, but the carpet was dirty, the the tub was moldy, and the in-room safe initially did not work. I have stayed in many hotels with many safes, but I had never seen one like this where you have to push a reset button that is not clearly labeled. I missed the button and locked the safe, while empty and couldn't get it back open, setting off the alarm. I contacted the desk and sent my family to the restaurant to get some dinner as they were hungry. Fifteen minutes later no-one arrived. I called again and was told someone was on their way. An hour had passed and my wife informed me that the food she ordered was being delivered, so I gave up and went to dinner. I stopped at the front desk to ask about the safe and they told me that someone was coming soon. The maintenance staff arrived and tried to open it unsuccessfully. He informed me he needed to go get a tool to open it and returned 10 minutes later to open it. The food at the restaurant was ok, the beds were comfortable, but between the shower, the extra security measures, the noise from the club at night, and the moldy bath we had had enough.
