Grand Hyatt Kunming

I'm on my way to Mile right now, taking a break to write this review! This is the first time I've ever felt compelled to give a hotel a positive review, mainly because Ms. Bianca's service was absolutely amazing! The day before we arrived, she proactively contacted us to ask about our needs. When she learned we were traveling with a baby, and since the hotel couldn't provide a bed rail, she upgraded our room and arranged for two beds to be pushed together. Every evening before we returned to the hotel, there was turn-down service, with water replenished, and the room was cleaned twice a day, so it was always spotless and tidy when we got back – it truly made us feel great! For deliveries and takeout, after contacting the hotel, the concierge would bring them directly to our room; the service was incredibly attentive! They never seemed bothered and always greeted us with a smile. We rented an electric car after landing in Kunming, and there are charging stations in the underground parking at Spring City 66, very close to the hotel! The freshly baked flower pastries at breakfast were absolutely divine! Better than any I've bought elsewhere!!! The latte art in the coffee was so therapeutic! I travel frequently for business and leisure, and I've stayed in many five-star hotels, but I've only seen latte art at breakfast once before, at a hotel in Singapore! They also had freshly made Eggs Benedict! Our child loved the colorful glutinous rice – the chicken noodle soup was just so-so. When our child vomited in the middle of the night, we contacted room service, and they changed the sheets and duvet covers very quickly! At 3 AM, we took our child to the nearby Kunming Children's Hospital, where he was diagnosed with acute gastroenteritis and put on an IV drip. I contacted Bianca to ask if we could have a late checkout. The front desk had initially said 2 PM, but Bianca, considering our little one hadn't slept all night, proactively offered to extend it to 4 PM! This gave us ample time to rest and pack. Being in a different city with a sick child and experiencing such thoughtful service truly made us feel grateful! We will definitely stay at the Grand Hyatt again next time we're in Kunming! Overall, my stay was quite good, and the facilities were impressive. However, I do hope for improvements in a few areas: The executive lounge was far too crowded, and the happy hour food selection felt very perfunctory, almost like street food vendors selling breakfast during rush hour.

The room felt a bit small and cramped, and the bathtub was tiny. The price wasn't great, which was a big disappointment. The decor was nice though, and it was super convenient to be connected to Plaza 66 for shopping. At breakfast, I asked for a freshly squeezed melon juice. The first male server said it was possible but would take 5 minutes, which I agreed to. Then he disappeared. I asked another female server, and she said they already had some squeezed from the morning and wouldn't make a fresh one for me. I don't know if this is a rule or something, but can't they make a fresh juice for a guest? I was very unhappy. When they poured the pre-squeezed juice, it tasted like it had been sitting for a while. It really ruined my mood.

The hotel's service was absolutely exceptional. There was a slight hiccup when booking, but the hotel staff immediately offered the best solution and even upgraded my parents' room for free. What was most touching was when my father left his walking stick behind. The staff promptly arranged for it to be shipped to our next hotel, and they didn't even charge for the delivery. It's not about the money, but the hotel staff's incredibly thoughtful and attentive service. Next time I'm in Kunming, I'll definitely choose to stay at Grand Hyatt again.

Sami's service was excellent, and the hotel itself is great. I really like it here. The surrounding facilities are very convenient; it's only a one-minute walk to the mall 🏬. Yunnan seasonal fresh fruits: Liked it. 2. 15% off dining privilege: Very good.

The room was spacious, bright, and well-designed. Bianca upgraded our room and sent us daily messages to check in. The staff on the 24th floor were excellent and kept the room very clean. Turndown service was also very good.

The hotel is quite new, and the entrance foyer is very photogenic. Our butler, Emily, was incredibly thoughtful. I was traveling with my parents, and there were many little things we needed help with, so we had to bother her quite a bit, but Emily patiently assisted us with everything. The hotel breakfast was delicious with a good variety of options. Both the concierge and front desk staff were very friendly and helpful. We ordered takeout, and they even have a takeout locker downstairs, which felt very secure. The third floor connects directly to Plaza 66, making it super convenient for shopping and dining. The gym is amazing – honestly the best I've ever seen, huge and spotless, with all Technogym equipment. It was my birthday during our stay, and Emily even arranged birthday decorations and a cake. So heartwarming!

The hotel's design pays meticulous attention to soundproofing, making it both understated and serene. The view from the window overlooks Dongfeng Square, which is quite expansive. Breakfast quality is high with a wide variety of options. The front desk lady kindly helped add breakfast for my child. The coffee is excellent, and the barista, despite being incredibly busy, maintained a very pleasant attitude. The housekeeping staff were also very helpful. We requested extra blankets, toiletries, fruit, and water, and every staff member we encountered was patient and enthusiastic. Parking on the B2 level is convenient for entry and exit. The nearby Henglong Plaza offers easy access to dining and shopping. The last photo I've included is of the headboard – when I was choosing the hotel, I initially mistook this mint blue leather for glass. It's actually a very pretty, subtle design, haha.
