The hotel location is quite difficult to find as there is no hotel name, signboard, or notice in front of the door to inform guests. We arrived around 12:00 PM and waited outside for a long time without any staff or person in charge present. We had no idea who to contact, especially since we are from another country.
We even asked nearby locals where the hotel was, and one kind local helped unlock the door so we could go inside. There was no staff to guide us, provide information, or assist with check-in. The owner only arrived around 2:00 PM and asked why we did not contact them, but there was no contact information, notice, or WeChat ID provided beforehand. Guests should not have to ask locals one by one just to find staff. Eventually, housekeeping contacted the owner urgently after realizing guests were waiting.
It would be much better if the owner or staff could wait downstairs during check-in hours, or at least place a clear notice with contact details so guests know what to do upon arrival.
That said, the location is good—very near Kunming Railway Station, suitable for a short stay if you need to catch a train the next day and are traveling light. However, the room is quite small and not suitable for big families, long stays, or travelers with large luggage. It may be okay for solo travelers or couples with small luggage only.
