We stayed at Novotel Kunming from January 2-5th in a double bedded room, and my experience was nothing short of excellent. The staff were warm, professional, and always ready to help. The front desk team were courteous and helpful too. We forgotten to ask for make up room when we went out and the front desk actually asked a cleaning lady named Mandy to help us clean after work time. This is providing us extra miles. The room is equipped with smart sanitary system like Japan and They even provide you a Dyson hairdryer with accessories. Not to mention ball pit and reading area for kids. Complimentary coffee and tea at the lobby 24/7. Same goes for complimentary self service for washer and dryer located at 20th floor. The amenities provided here was so convenient for families.

Other than location, everything else is superb. If you don't mind taking a taxi or e-hailing, then it's fine. However, e-hailing is an issue for foreigners. You can't register one without a local number due to a payment issue. You need a local bank account to register. It's more of a condotel. Nearest train station is 30 minutes away walking. There is a small mall next to the hotel. Besides the room, what I like is also the staff at the counter. They are helpful and friendly. The breakfast was good. If I am driving I don't mind at all to stay at this place.

The hotel is good, the bedding is soft, people can rest at ease, and the transportation is convenient. Near the subway entrance, it saves travel time. Staying here, you can feel convenient and comfortable, and the price is very high.

I had a wonderful stay at this hotel, and one of the best parts was the breathtaking view from the 29th floor. Waking up to the city skyline was an unforgettable experience. The location is very convenient, just a short walk from the train station, making it easy to get around. The breakfast selection was great, offering a variety of fresh options, and the coffee was excellent—rich and flavorful, perfect for starting the day. The room was clean and comfortable, with modern amenities and a cozy atmosphere. The staff was friendly and accommodating, always ready to help with any questions. Overall, it was a fantastic stay, and I would definitely choose this hotel again!

A pleasant trip, the chicken soup rice noodles downstairs of the hotel are delicious, I recommend everyone to try it! The picture shows two eggs for only 14 yuan

Location is very strategic and only 15 minutes walk from Nanqiang night market. If you're taking a cab, you can inform them to pick you up from the kfc which is just 1-2 minutes walk from the hotel. Beside the hotel is a big banyan tree and there's a steamboat shop nearby which is crowded at night. The rooms were very clean and the staff were super helpful all the time and tried their best in making sure we had the most comfortable stay especially when the weather is so cold.

A sizeable triple room! There were even two sinks. We needed to do laundry and the front desk lady very kindly took our clothes to wash. However they do not have a dryer, so you'll need to factor in time for clothes to airdry. Hotel is on 31st floor (highest floor) of a building with other hotels on other floors. Which means we had a really good view of the city. Was a pleasant stay and would come back to stay if I'm in the city!

Room Clean and tidy. The service attitude is very good, the location is good, it is very close to the subway, the service staff are enthusiastic to help with any requirements, the breakfast is rich, clean and hygienic, the surrounding business is developed, and it is a very good old hotel.

The room condition is great with the price we paid. Couldnt expect more. What was amazing, the receptionist was super helpful. I wanted to buy something at the store next to the hotel lobby and my Alipay wasnt working, she came to help me by paying the bill first. The next day, I paid her back. Thank you so much. Other than that, 2 of the elevator was really in bad condition, another 2 was okay.

Our recent stay had both highlights and frustrations. The hotel enjoys an excellent location in a quiet area, surrounded by numerous dining options and major landmarks within walking distance. The rooms were consistently clean, and housekeeping provided attentive daily service. Staff generally showed willingness to help when issues arose. However, several issues impacted our stay significantly. While we appreciated being offered an upgrade, the execution was problematic. We were initially placed in an upgraded room for one night before being told we needed to move, suggesting possible overbooking during the New Year period. The second upgraded room had serious plumbing issues - the bath didn't function properly and the bathroom would flood even during regular showers. What particularly concerned me was being asked to write a 5-star review in exchange for the upgrade. This practice feels inappropriate and undermines genuine customer feedback. In retrospect, I would have preferred staying in our originally booked room without the complications of changing rooms and dealing with maintenance issues.
