Sheraton Kunshan Dianshan Lake

The room was very spacious and spotlessly clean. Since I drink a lot of tea, the water refills were always prompt and proactive. It was raining when I checked in, and the front desk was very helpful when I asked to borrow an umbrella. The hotel's own restaurant serves excellent food.

On my vacation to Zhujiajiao Ancient Town, I decided to visit Dianshan Lake the next day. Conveniently, this newly opened Sheraton is located right by Dianshan Lake, so I decided to give it a try. I had originally booked a Lake View King Room, but Joey at the front desk upgraded us to a Lake View Suite for free, which was a wonderful surprise during our trip. The suite was spacious and very clean. The living room even had a garment steamer, which was super useful. The toiletries in the bathroom smelled great. The coffee machine and capsules in the living room were Nespresso. However, it was a bit inconvenient not to have a microwave. The pillows were perfectly to my liking. The TV's built-in screen mirroring was very handy. The hotel is still quite new, and the surrounding landscaping is still under construction. One area for improvement: the sofa armrest in the living room has a built-in power outlet, but the charger didn't work when plugged in.

The facilities are new, hygiene is excellent, the swimming pool is great, and the kids' play area is fantastic. They even have a delivery robot that brings takeout right to your room. However, the view wasn't as good as advertised; it wasn't even photogenic, and this was supposed to be an upgraded executive room. I was a bit disappointed; is a fruit platter all that an executive room offers? The minibar was empty, and there's no executive lounge. There's also nothing much to do or eat nearby; Love River Pier was even closed off. The Chinese restaurant is overpriced with limited options, and the breakfast restaurant also has very few choices. If you go late, you'll have to queue. When I left at 10:00 AM, breakfast was already over, and there were still people waiting in line.

Facilities: Very new, the facilities are perfect and smart. Cleanliness: Clean, and the fragrance is very pleasant. Environment: The lake view is beautiful, and the lawns and greenery are well-maintained. Service: The valet parking was very enthusiastic, helping with luggage upon arrival. The front desk service was also excellent.

Shanghai was super close, and the environment was fantastic. The facilities were excellent too – you could swim, work out, and even go fishing. In the evening, a little barbecue tops it all off. What an amazing weekend!

The hotel definitely feels new! The room and bathroom were very clean. We were lucky enough to be there on a night with fireworks, and since all the rooms face Dianshan Lake, we had a fantastic view right from our room – it was beautiful! My only minor complaint is that I thought I could hear the sound of a neighboring faucet at night. The hotel breakfast was excellent too, and you can even rent bikes to cycle around the lake.

Our stay at Sheraton was incredibly heartwarming, especially since we were there for the fireworks show. Nicole was exceptionally diligent and attentive throughout, from check-in to arranging our viewing spot. She was organized, professional, and had a gentle demeanor, which made us feel completely at ease and valued. Thanks to her dedication, our entire trip was perfect and comfortable. Five-star quality, highly recommend!

Overall, the hotel is pretty good, especially for families with kids. It has a pool and a playroom (not huge, but big enough for kids to run around and burn off some energy). Outdoors, there's a large lawn with lots of pigeons and some nice spots for photos. There's also a track along the lake, perfect for biking or balance bikes. The guest rooms have great views, mostly lake-facing with floor-to-ceiling windows. I imagine it might get a bit hot in the summer with the sun shining all day. However, there are a few things I need to complain about: 1. **Room Temperature:** The room temperature was incredibly hot. Our group of four families all found it unbearably warm. The kids were restless and couldn't sleep well. The air conditioning was practically useless; the lowest it would go was 20 degrees Celsius, but the air coming out still felt warm, and the temperature wouldn't drop at all. (I really hope the hotel addresses this comfort issue). 2. **No Bathroom Door in King Rooms:** The bathrooms in the king rooms don't have doors. Even with close family, it's really awkward to not be able to close the bathroom door. 3. **Poor Service at Lobby Bar:** There was a particular lady at the lobby bar who provided really poor service. She was impatient when taking orders and seemed unprofessional. When delivering a cake, she nearly dropped it. I asked her for a fork, and she said she'd get it, but then she disappeared and never came back. In the end, I had to go to the counter myself to get one. 4. **Limited Breakfast Options:** The breakfast selection was relatively small. I'd particularly recommend the wontons and noodles.

It's rare to find a hotel in a Shanghai scenic area where you can get a suite for under 2000 RMB during Chinese New Year. This place is relatively new, so there wasn't a strong 'new hotel smell,' but you could tell it had been open for at least half a year. The service was good, though there were a few minor kinks, which is understandable for a newer establishment. The hotel isn't huge; the breakfast area is right next to the front desk. The location, however, is excellent. Not only do all the rooms offer lake views, but it's also just a few minutes to Zhujiajiao and conveniently located for trips to Suzhou. I'd definitely go back.
