After staying at minshukus, ryokans and western-style hotels over the last several days, it was a pleasure to end our Japan stay with 2 nights at Kyoto Machiya Fukune. The 2 of us appreciated the extra space of the Sangen machiya compared to our previous lodgings to just chill out, especially when soaking in your personal outdoor hot water (not onsen) bath or the indoor hinoki bath and looking out onto the compact zen garden. Beds were comfortable and bathrooms modern and clean. The included mini-bar (Asahi beer, sake, soft drinks and water) was an unexpected bonus! The welcome tea ceremony with traditional sweets (much better than that offered with the included entry price at the Okochi Sanso Garden in Arashiyama) was a far superior greeting than fronting a hotel reception desk even if one has to wait (about 10 mins) for Miki to arrive (which was forewarned in the pre-stay info); we were informed of our security code when we rang (using the complimentary phone in the separate arrival area) and could access the machiya while waiting. Miki was very helpful with local restaurant and sightseeing tips. Excellent pre-stay information was provided via email from Kyoto Machiya Fukune. While we didn’t use the laundry (complimentary) we did make use of the locker, which we found could store 2 large suitcases and 2 carry-on luggage with room leftover for shopping bags. It cost us ¥1500 for taxi/uber from JR Kyoto stn to the machiya. Once there it is only several minutes’ walk to various train stns or bus stops. Nishiki mkt’s western entrance is about a 10min walk away. This was my 3rd time in Kyoto with the goal to visit sights we hadn’t seen previously like Arashiyama’s bamboo grove and Fushimi Inari shrine. The Randen line’s Shijo-Omiya stn is just over 10mins walk away and the tram takes you into the heart of Arashiyama’s shopping *****, the Kimino forest and near the Tongetsu-kyo bridge. Then take your time to walk to the bamboo grove via Tenryo-ji shrine. They say it best to get to the grove early to beat the tourists, but it rained in the morning, so we took our time and got to the grove about lunch-time. While crowded, it wasn’t as packed as what we thought it would be, given it was a Sunday and also ‘golden week’ (maybe people were eating lunch). We also walked to and visited the Nison-in temple that was recommended by Miki; she highlighted the moss that covered a lot of the grounds; a very worthwhile diversion and IMHO better than the Okochi Sanso Garden we also visited). Had a late lunch in the local area then walked to JR’s Saga-Arashiyama stn; ¥220 to JR’s Inari stn (simple transfer at JR Kyoto stn) with the Fushimi Inari shrine entrance across the road. The place is pricey, but we’re glad we stayed here.

We really enjoyed our family stay (6 nights) at the Hiramatsu Kyoto. The room and food were great but what made it an amazing experience was the staff. Everyone was very kind, attentive, helpful and patient. The food was great and we enjoyed different breakfast menu everyday. Specially, we loved the miso fish and vegetables at the Izumi and the risotto at the Luce. Also, they had a Kids course that considering my son food restrictions, and he really enjoyed. The room was gorgeous, new and spacious. We had more than enough space for a family of three. Finally, as our first trip since the beginning of the pandemic, we were keen to avoid crowded restaurants and ensure social distance. The staff was very understanding and they accommodated such request so we could enjoy the delicious food without concerns. Special thanks for Sophie that started helping us even before our reservation. We really enjoyed our stay, so we highly recommend this hotel.

I had a terrific four night stay at the Ace in Kyoto. The building design is stunning and set the vibe for the entire stay. The front desk staff were so friendly and so helpful with my many questions and requests. The room was spacious and well stocked with whatever you needed. The soaking tub was the prefect way to recover after a day running around Kyoto. I'm vegan, and the restaurants made sure I had plenty of delicious food to eat. The hotel centrally located within Kyoto, and right above a mall that had some great shopping. I recommend the Ace and look forward to returning.

We chose this hotel due to itsʻ location and it exceeded our expectations! The hotel staff was helpful and provided information in Japanese and English. We stayed for 13 days and were impressed with the hotelʻs determination to provide us with clean rooms, towels and other items. This hotelʻs location at Shijo/Karasuma made it easy to get to train stations, bus and the subway. There were also many excellent restaurants and shopping possibilities. One of the features we appreciated a lot was the laundry. We also appreciated that it was quiet.. didnʻt even hear people in the halls or doors close. Having lived in Kyoto for a long time, this was our first time to stay in a hotel and would recommend it for sure.

this is a very good hotel for someone who is visiting Kyoto and wants to have a comfortable clean place to stay. The location is very convenient, exactly at the shijo area. It’s very convenient to find food and to do shopping. Takashimaya is within walking distance (15 minutes). Daimaru, Fujii Daimaru and Tokyu Hands are just around the corner. However, we requested for a second card. They have been kindly trying to help us, but somehow that card just expires after a while, causing us to visit the front desk repeatedly. Strongly recommend this hotel if you want to shop in Kyoto.

Tienen de todo! Podrías ir a pasar un fin de semanas allí y solo llevarte ropa para cambiarte. Te dan pijama, tienen cargadores, en el baño tienen de todo. El baño es un onsen así que tienes que bajar un piso para poder lavarte pero es parte de la experiencia. De hecho recomendaría tener esto en cuenta para planificar la visita y tener tiempo para disfrutar del onsen y luego darte un masaje en los sillones de masajes q hay en el piso 2. Hay agua gratis y cafés (creo porque no tomamos). Es un hotel ligeramente incómodo para ir con maleta grande pero nos dejan un candado a la puerta de tu cápsula. La cápsula en sí es cómoda y nada agobiante. Muy recomendable!

We used it for the university entrance examination. Use it in twin for accompanying children. This hotel was decided by a hotel with a good transportation from the University and a large bath. Reasonable with breakfast! It was convenient and helpful to buy lunch box on the morning of the examination day because the first floor is seven eleven! I am glad that there is free coffee and soft drink at the front desk. Amenities are also placed at the front desk and you choose yourself and bring them into the room. The room was quite compact, but there was a desk and I could study. I'm glad that there is a new and clean humid air cleaner! It is the first experience that there is a washing machine in the room! It seems to be very popular for those who stay overnight. The public bath is also narrow, but the cleaning is well done and satisfied. There was also an open-air bath that could see the sky (laughs) I stayed on the second floor, so it is the floor with a breakfast restaurant. I thought that the guests would be noisy in the morning with the sound and the voice walking in the corridor, but the soundproofing was good without hearing the sound at all. There are many kinds of breakfast and cheap and satisfied! In the daytime of the examination day, it is sightseeing alone. Perfect location for sightseeing! 2 minutes walk to Shijo KARASUMA in the center! The train is also convenient and the best for bus sightseeing! Convenient to go anywhere! 地下鉄四条駅から徒歩5分ほどでどこに行くにも非常に便利でした。おしゃれできれいなこじんまりとしたホテルで、ベッドの寝心地もとてもよかったです。スタッフの皆さんも感じよく親切で気持ちよく過ごせました。 サービスではなく部屋の設備部分やシステムに不満がありました。 今回は6連泊しましたのでホテルは早割でリーズナブルなところを選び、価格的には大満足でしたが、やはり値段相応の設備でした。部屋が狭くスーツケースを広げるのがやっとで、クロゼット、衣類用引き出し等がなく、荷物の置き場に苦労しました。部屋の清掃のたびに荷物を片付けなければならず、面倒になり清掃は1日おきにしていただきました。使用済みタオルとパジャマ、ゴミを部屋の外に出して新しいものと交換するシステムです。 ベッドサイドに個別の明かりがなく（ベッドボードのところが全体的に明るくなります）、ツインで利用する場合、自分のところだけ明るくできません。また入り口天井部分と居室天井部分の電灯はスイッチが一つで個別につけたり消したりできません。1，2泊なら問題なく過ごせたのかもしれませんが、今回は日増しに不便さがつのりました。TVにイヤフォンジャックが付いていたのは便利でした。 浴室のシャワー設置箇所（上下2か所あるうちの上の部分）が高く、160㎝の私でやっと手が届く感じです。160㎝以下の方はシャワーの調整に苦労するかもしれません。同時に宿泊した友人の部屋はシャワーヘッドを止める金具が壊れていて接着剤止めしてありましたが、ぐらぐらしてシャワーを置けない状態でした。 カードキーでエレベーターの操作と部屋を開錠するシステムですが、支給されたカードキーが反応せず毎日カードキーを取り替えていました。連泊なのに支払い明細が日にちごとに分かれ個別の予約扱いのようでしたので、チェックインの際に毎日チェックインしなければいけないのかと確認したところ、ホテル側でまとめておきますとの回答でした。このことがカードキーの作動不具合に関連しているのでしょうか。また、このアンケート依頼のメールも宿泊日数分発信されています。曜日によって価格が違うので連泊扱いができないのかもしれませんが、予約の際も手間がかかり不便でした。 3月半ば過ぎから価格が倍以上に急騰しますが、この設備では見合わないように思います。 部屋が窮屈で不便でも、地下鉄の駅と繁華街に近いことを優先する短期滞在の方向きのホテルです。

We had mixed reviews of this accomodation Pros - was a very large room two small doubles and a bunk perfect for families. Amenities are great with wifi, lots of kitchen utensils, stove, tea and coffee supplied, toothbrushes available, washing machine and tablets are provided with an inbuilt dryer system in the bathroom. Bathroom and shower area was also spacious. Beds are on the okay side but could be softer. The area itself is nice and quiet with a bus stop right out from we utilised every day, supermarket and Lawsons are across the road and you feel very safe. Would recommend for families. Cons - check in is in a different location 20minute taxi away so we had to catch a train to the check in office when arriving in Kyoto from Osaka, then a taxi to the accomodation after this which chewed up a few hours as we had to wait 45min in addition to check in due to busyness of the office. The area is a bit out of the way of everything next time I might consider staying at a different resi stay location closer to sights and facilities like shops etc. All the restaurants in the area seem to not open for breakfast until 11am so we had to have McDonald’s if we didn’t want to cook or travel too far for breakfast as we have a toddler (early riser). Same occurred at dinner time a lot of restaurants didn’t seem to be open the Monday or Tuesday we were there or opened too late for us (we travelled with a four year old). Our last disappointment was resi stay apparently have a strict not noise at night policy however another room partied until about 3am but there is no front desk or after hours phone number to call to complain / get the noise to stop. Was very frustrating as walls were very thin so we didn’t sleep very well. Overall we would stay with Resi Stay again but at another location due to Nishijin being a bit too out of the way for us.

There were no Korean reviews or blogs, so there were a lot of difficulties. If you call in advance before check-in, you can store your luggage or check in quickly. And the accommodation is really nice. I had a lot of trouble because there weren't many reviews. There is 1 tatami room, 1 bedroom, 1 small room, and 1 attic, as well as 2 beds and 4 bedding sets. It is spacious enough to accommodate up to 6 people. It's nice to have a Family Mart and 7-Eleven nearby. Take exit 5 of Sijo Station, go into the alley on the left, and walk 200m to find the shrine. Just go into the shrine alley. There is no front desk. A staff member will come and be waiting for you at 4 o'clock. If you would like to store your luggage or check-in quickly, you can call the hotel and request quick check-in. The information staff can speak English, so you can speak English.
