Amazing view from the hotel room, the staff was very polite and always attend to us immediately when we request for assistance, the room was very clean and spacious.

Terrific room and the neighborhood is beautiful and quiet. Very near Kiyomizu-dera and the crowded streets of Ninnenzaka, Sannenzaka and Nene-no-michi.

Great property with a nice room. Location is nice and local, near good spots but not right in the middle of the chaos. Feels like a nice retreat. There is no staff onsite so if this is something you need be aware. Communication is via email or phone and replies from the property can be very slow & sometimes clunky or confusing. Overall would recommend.

This was a ryokan/modern room hybrid, but more on the modern side. Very quiet and comfortable. Everything was clean and well maintained. The location is great and the neighborhood is awesome. It is not right next to anything, but is close to a lot of things. We had a wonderful stay here. Small room, but very convenient and comfortable. Thank you Machiya Kamiumea for a lovely experience.

The property is very quiet and relaxing and has a washing machine and dryer that guests can use for free. The room was spacious and clean. The only downside of the room was that the beds were small and hard. The hotel is also not easily accessible by train and you need to be okay with taking buses, taxis, or walking 10-15 mins to a train station. On a positive note, the check in facility is next to Kyoto Station and you drop off your bags there for delivery to your room. All in all, we enjoyed the hotel very much, and wouldn't hesitate to stay here again the next time we're in Kyoto.

Quaint Kyoto local stay This place was very quaint and right in the heart of the neighborhood! You really feel like you are one of the locals. There is a coffee shop nearby called Ichikagawa that has lovely breakfast. Lawsons is also nearby for your convenience store needs. The only downside to this location is it is far from the subway. We had to take taxi a lot. The heated floors and toiletry takeaway bags were nice! The pillows were comfy and I am usually picky with pillows (it wasn’t too bulky or too soft). The robes were a fun bonus for taking a typical Japanese tourist picture. They also provide umbrellas if you forgot yours and need to borrow. Great added touch since it rains a lot! The biggest issue was whenever guests enter the main door, when it is shut, it is a very loud bang sound. We stayed in the room right next to the main entrance. So I had to sleep with earplugs to block out the noise.

We loved our stay. It was comfortable and spacious and we wish we could have stayed longer. Check-in and out were very easy. It was very clean and so beautiful. The area is a little more out of the way than it appears so don’t expect to use this location as a hub for sightseeing, especially because Kyoto’s transit system isn’t as robust. That being said, you won’t really want to leave the room.
