Reviews of Urban Hotel Kyoto Shijo Premium

Conveniently located just one train ride from Kyoto Station, this hotel was packed with tour groups. We had to wait for the elevators and at breakfast, which wasn't as tasty as at other hotels I've stayed at. The service, however, was still very good.

There are travel groups when we r staying there. There is microwave to heat up your food and drink stations at the lobby. Very comfortable beds for 2 adult and 1 kid

Gym costs money, breakfast was just so so. Staff don’t care much even if a guest doesn’t shower before entering the public bath. No views at all from the room. Decent size tv, that’s about the only acceptable thing. Hotel isn’t new by any measure, surely not premium. Staff were not courteous nor helpful. Not recommended.

We had a good stay there. The service is good. Room is clean. There are several shops and restaurants nearby. It’s about 8-10mins walk to the nearest subway station. 20-25mins walk to the market. The hotel provides tea, coffee and water at the reception. There are washing machines, ice machine and vending machines on the same floor. Their public bath is clean and good.

Wonderful journey in kyoto and really enjoy the scene and comfort in walking around the city. The hotel has a good location, like it as it is highly affordable,would recommend to other tourists to Kyoto.

Stayed for 2 nights. Great hotel with great rooms, big bed for 1 person. Great location, just 3-5 minutes to bus stop. Very helpful staff, helped to send our baggages to the next hotel.

The hotel's location isn't ideal; its primary convenience is its proximity to public transport. You'll need to take a bus to reach most places, including Kyoto Station, despite a nearby bus stop. Breakfast was abundant but lacked flavor. Upon check-in, we were assigned an older room on the second floor and had to request a room change due to the extremely noisy bathroom exhaust fan. The gym charges a fee for each use, and the public bath, though clean, is quite small. Housekeeping could be more flexible; for our four-night stay, the room was only cleaned on the fourth day. Cleaning on the third day would have been much more practical. Furthermore, breakfast required selecting a fixed time slot with a voucher.

You can bring one child under 12 for free. The transportation is also quite convenient, just a few bus stops from Kyoto Station. I remember there was a large FamilyMart right next to me, and a 7-Eleven at the intersection, as well as a LIFE supermarket. The hotel has a large public bath, and although the pool isn't big, it's still a nice way to relax in the evening. In the lobby on the first floor, they offer free iced coffee and iced water every day, which is super refreshing! I would consider staying here again next time I visit Kyoto. If it's a voucher for around 200 per night, it's a great deal, but anything over 500 wouldn't be worth it.

The hotel is located near few bus stops almost in the centre of Kyoto. However, almost all distant metro and train journeys are via Kyoto station, which is reached by bus (¥230 one way). Breakfast are tasty, there is wide range of choices, but it’s mostly designed for the Japanese. The hotel staff doesn’t allow to pour water in the bottles

The room had a shower, and there was also a large public bath on the second floor. The informational brochures on the first floor were very helpful; I planned a lot of my Kyoto itinerary based on the information provided in them. The bus stop right in front of the hotel was very convenient, and it was about a 5-minute walk to the subway station.

Good location even if quit far from subway station,but is a good location for you to explore the city

The hotel staff are friendly and helpful, and there is good information about staying in Kyoto. Everything is exceptionally clean and the rooms comfortable. The sento is nice. There is a gym, too, but this has an additional charge to use which is a shame. The hotel is located centrally, but it is a walk of several blocks to the nearest metro station. Buses run regularly nearby, and it is also a pretty good spot from which to walk around the city or to JR Kyoto.
