LiVEMAX HOSTELS Kyotoekimae

The location was fantastic. Super close to Kyoto Station and opposite Aeon shopping mall. The showers were hot and the hair dryers were good. My only complaint would be about the kitchen. There was no fridge to store food and only a microwave. No plates or utensils either. Also the lounge area was only available for guests at breakfast and in the afternoon till evening - not during the middle of the day. Kyoto is a beautiful city and I recommend the Kyoto Trail for those who like to walk and travel in an authentic way. The Trail winds around many of the shrines and tourist areas as well as the beautiful hills surrounding Kyoto.

Not good organized. Too crowded many bed in one room. No re-filled water station.

Odour in hostel room. Little to no noise cancellation and noisy at night and in the morning. uncomfortable public space (lobby). No fridge. Male staffs cleaning female hostel room in the morning. Overpriced for the service and facilities. Would rather pay a little more for a hotel. Very unpleasant experience.

Service wasn’t very welcoming. Place was clean except for the lounge area for eating. The bathrooms weren’t stocked with toilet paper that much. The paper towels for hands were just crappy napkins and it wasn’t clear what the complimentary shower set was for … overall won’t be going / recommending this location but will at least try the hotel instead.

The hotel is located next to the train station, so it’s a bit far from the city center — it takes some time to get to restaurants and main attractions. However, it’s conveniently close to several bus stops, making it easy to visit Kyoto’s various sites and temples. The showers are in the basement, and the queuing system could really use some improvement. I had to wait about 30 minutes in my bathrobe in the lobby before getting access to a shower. I was told they were all occupied, but when I went downstairs, I found myself completely alone — which was quite surprising. Other than that, the facilities are clean, the staff are helpful, and the bed is comfortable

Good for the price, clean and good facilities. I think they’d only just re-opened when we stayed so everything took a while and process was a bit long. Only strange thing is you have to go to reception and get permission whenever you wanted to shower. Other than that it was good value for money.
