Connect Inn Shichijo-Kawaramachi

It’s a 15-20 minute walk from Kyoto station in a pretty dark alley. The place was very clean when we arrived. There nobody at the counter and we checked in late around 8pm. The staff were kind enough to email us the pass code to our rooms and allow us to check in pass the usual operating hours. We were in Kyoto for 4 nights. The location is convenient and it was clean when we checked in however the room wasn’t cleaned on a daily basis, probably only cleaned once before check in. It’s not ok if you’re someone who expects the room to be cleaned everyday or every couple of days, otherwise it’s fine The reception is located around 20-30 min walking distance from the inn(near Kyoto station). we wanted to leave our luggage at the reception for awhile after we check out, so we had to travel down to the reception with our luggage after checking out. We had our luggage transferred from Narita airport to the the inn. We had to email the staff for assistance as the reception is not located at inn. We overall had a good experience but do take note of the cons if your schedule/requirements are not as flexible. Staff replied to my emails very quickly and were very friendly and flexible.

The room is tidy and clean. There is kitchen inside the room and laundry room for public use. Despite the face it takes 10-15 mins walk far from Kyoto station, it is a good hotel with an attractive price. The reception staff are very helpful too.

Didn't get any emails from ******* regarding how to check in - we arrived at the hotel and found out that there is no staff at the actual hotel. Had to take another taxi to yet another place ( with all our luggage! ) to get the access codes to enter the hotel - it's quite a waste of time! Other than that - once you're checked in, it's actually a nice property. Bit of a walk to the nearest train station / bus stop, but still bearable. There's a really nice public bath ( Sauna Ume Yu ) that opens until late, definitely a must visit if you stay here.

Good: 1. Room is large and comfortable bed. 2. Bathroom was great. 3. Free in house selfserve laundry but takes a long time to wash dry FYI. CON (read especially if you have no phone service) 1. There is no one onsite. - This mean you can't send luggage in advance 2. I did not get email with instructions how to check-in. You check in at ANOTHER location. They said they had trouble sending msg to my email. They do not respond to chat messages in *******. I had to chat with ******* who called them on my behalf. Wasted 4 hours trying to check in. Important note, THERE IS NO PHONEBOOTH nearby. 7/11 has no phone booth. Other facilities (hotel) would not allow you to use their phone.... They need to post alternative contact method other then phone and ******* chat since they are unable to respond. Its not just me, another hotel guest had the same problem as me as I was exiting hotel... 3. They only offer one time garbage /room cleaning service free of charge. Additional fee for frequent cleaning/garbage pickup - Closest garbage dump is 7/11 (5-7 min walk) 4. The wall is thin (poor sound isolation), you can easily hear next door guest
