Kyoto Ryokan Gion Sano Reviews

I am really grateful for the care of Grandpa Sano and his family. I have lived very comfortably these few days. They gave us free fruits and various snacks, bread and drinks every day. The scenes of Japanese dramas are vivid. Every day when I go out, they always send me to the door and remind me to go on. When I come back, they always respond with a warm smile with two dogs, saying "I'm back". It's really touching. Before leaving, I gave Grandpa Sano a panda pendant bought from Hongshan. They were immediately very happy and put it at the entrance. We agreed to come again next time

The location is very good. The landlord is very polite. The most important thing is that you can pet the golden retriever for free

Located in the Higashiyama area, it is within walking distance to Yasaka Shrine, Kiyomizu Temple, Ninnizaka Sannzaka Kodaiji Temple, Hanamikoji, Maruyama Park, and Chion-in Temple. The floors also provide free snacks and small cups of instant noodles. Most of the service staff seem to be over 70 with attitudes. Very polite and greeted with a smile when entering and exiting.

A very nice homestay, the owner and the proprietress are very friendly, the room is very clean, the surrounding environment is also very good, and the transportation is convenient. They have a golden retriever and a Labrador, they are very docile and cute!

A very interesting ryokan, although the price is slightly expensive, but it is very comfortable and satisfying to live in Hotel features: 1 Pure Japanese-style room, the space is enough, the small Japanese-style courtyard is also very chic, air-conditioned hot water TV, free snacks instant noodles, and fruits (melon and banana) twice a day 2 The most important thing is that there is a Japanese dance* performance every Saturday night, invited by the boss, and interacting with geisha to play games, and in the end many people left, and were invited to sing karaoke together , with friends from all over the world, the experience is very good! The president is very interesting. He was invited to perform Japanese songs. The service staff are also very good. I highly recommend coming here!

During my last two days in Kyoto, I wanted to experience a Japanese-style B&B, so I chose this place. The location here is very good. You can go shopping and eat right away. It is close to Kodaiji Temple and Kiyomizudera Temple. The boss is very enthusiastic and prepares fruits and pastries for us every night when we go back. I love the two dogs in the store. All in all, very nice.

The Gion Sano is located at a top notch location. You are within walking distance to Hanamiyoji, Kiyomizu Dera, Yasaka Shrine and all the offerings that Gion has to offer. The host is friendly and helpful from the moment we entered, even offering to wash our clothes without additional charge. The rooms are beautiful, spacious and well equipped to handle all our needs. One downside is that this ryokan does not have an in-house onsen. Nevertheless, I would highly recommend this charming and friendly place.

I am so glad I chose to stay here. It was easy to get to via a bus from the train station and it's perfectly near all the major Gion sights. The family who own the hotel are welcoming and helpful and made my stay very comfortable. I could wake up at 5.30am visit a few places before the crowds of tourists arrived and then come back to the hotel for a nap, breakfast and a shower before heading out again. They leave little snacks for dessert and breakfast in the fridge and also fruit, which was a lovely touch. The room was huge and so was the bathroom. Ok the decor doesn't match and its kind of corny but the bed was so comfortable and they provide PJs, Toothbrush etc plus there is a kettle, fridge and TV in your room and a microwave, little oven and snacks you can help your self to in the hallway. One night they had a free Geisha performance with complimentary drinks in the downstairs lounge room. I would stay hear again in a heartbeat.

All round an incredible to stay…Beautiful comfy beds, really nice pillows. Exceptional service from all the staff and owners, they literally would bend over backwards to keep us happy. Lovely traditional style of rooms and fantastic views of nearby shrines and buildings. Two very cute and curious dogs to greet you. Excellent Geisha entertainment, she was very funny and incredibly beautiful. It felt like staying with long lost family… they constantly topped up our snack supply and felt very spoilt. We found it very special and were sad to leave. Kyoto is really amazing! So much to do so stay for at least three nights. Close to everything.
