Perfect location for everything in town. Staff are friendly but also leave you too it. The pool as bar area are cool and popular at night so may be noisy depending on which room you have. There are enough basic facilities but no hairdryer!

Location is great. Bed is comfortable and the room with A/C is so great. Netflix hotel account included was surprisingly unexpected as well. The vibe of the Selina La Fortuna is what I expected from reading reviews and the pictures.

We booked the Standard room, at check-in the receptionist said that we had booked the tepee. Despite showing her the booking confirmation, she kept insisting that it was wrong room, and the Standard room is only available for 2 nights not for the full 4 nights. Told me that this always happens with the booking platform, wrong room advertised, and that I can get a refund for the remaining two nights. I informed her that is not my error and that should be between them and the booking platform, she then proceeded to tell me that it’s my problem as well. The place and the room itself was horrible, it was a blessing is disguise that we didn’t stay there for the full 4 nights. It smelled, run down, dusty and just unpleasant. Staff wasn’t friendly nor did they care about customer service. The way the lady handled herself at check-in ruined our first night in Costa Rica, it could have been handled so differently if she had dealt with it professionally. Trip.com refunded the two-night stay. We stayed at Selina in Panama and that was also rather disappointing.

Selina in La Fortuna is a fantastic choice for anyone looking to mix comfort with adventure. The place has a cool, modern vibe with clean rooms and plenty of cozy common areas to relax. The staff are super friendly and helpful, and the resto-bar on site serves great food and coffee. It can get a bit noisy from the social areas, but it’s a great spot to meet people and unwind after exploring the nearby Arenal Volcano. Overall, it’s a solid and stylish base for your La Fortuna adventure.

Whilst this is technically a hostel, it is far better than some hotels we stayed in! Rooms are great (good air con, hot water, good storage); facilities superb (pool, business lounge, kitchen/food prep area, pool table, great bar); well organised trips (the zip line followed by hot springs is a must!); very helpful staff; and the food delicious (tuna steak with salad delightful)

Great hospitality, cool property, with lots of fun areas and a coworking space for the digital nomads. Monica at the tours desk was really helpful- if you have no clue what you want to do when you arrive, she will help you find and book all the tours for you. All the tours that I booked with the hostel and were very well guided.

The perfect stay! We stayed the night in the suite room which was stylish, had it's own balcony, a very comfortable bed, great shower, an enormous television, AC, free coffee and a mini bar. It was like a hotel room and had loads of space. It was quiet while also being in a hostel where you could mix and take part in activities. The food was brilliant, the dogs were cute and the staff were really friendly and helpful (and taught us loads of Spanish!). There was a pool and even a spa on site that had great deals (we sadly couldn't go). On checkout they stored our bags until we were ready to move to our next accommodation and we got a Selina bracelet as a souvenir for our stay.

Fantastic time at the selina. Enjoyed free yoga and the great bar with tasty food and lovely staff. Stayed in the deluxe room for one night which felt very luxurious with a lovely shower and fab air con, comfy *huge* bed. Then followed on with 2 nights in the tee pee, hot hot hot, but a lovely experience and slept very soundly as it was quiet until around 9am when the morning yoga started. Again the bed was really comfy albeit smaller as expected with the price. We paid for laundry service which was steep at $15 however they had everything washed and dried in 6 hours, folded it up. Had a great time here and would definitely recommend, very much a safe haven in La Fortuna. Also the bar is definitely worth a visit!

I was here for coworking for about 3 weeks so got to know the place pretty well. I do not think CoLive is worth the value, was told I get discounts on food and drink and that was never honored. And got just as good WiFi in my room and shared spaces so no need to pay extra. The real gem of my stay was Charles, his yoga classes were more advanced depending on his am or pm class but amazing and accommodating to all skill levels. Best Selina yoga classes I had my whole trip. The staff was friendly even with their limited English, knew me by name. My standard room smelled of mildew and the kitchen cook wears need replacing and please get new knifes. Bummed that the social spaces closed at 10pm. Left us with no where to go because night life isn’t abundant in La Fortuna. Loved the layout of this Selina. One main social space right by the pool where everyone would gather there. Locals even came to enjoy the pool on hot days and never felt crowed, fun social events even if they were not always busy I’m glad they were available to solo travelers like me! The music they booked and played was surprisingly really good. Definitely worth a stay at this location

We were aware the Selina was a hostel on booking so opted for a suite room with a private bathroom. We’re seasoned travellers and have realistic expectations of ‘you get what you pay for’. It also has a pool which at the time of booking swayed the decision. We thought the comparatively high cost indicated a high quality accommodation with a more laid back and boho vibe than a standard hotel. Positives… Great location, central to La Fortuna and many excellent eateries. Less than 10 dollars in an Uber to most of the local attractions in the area. Good facilities in the room - arty decor, fridge, coffee machine, mirrors, 65 inch TV with Netflix, large bed, nice toiletries, good WiFi and a powerful shower. The not so great… The whole place didn’t feel as clean as it should be and a little shabby for the cost which was very expensive relative to the other accommodation in the area. No outlook at all with grubby fly screens and old rusty caged windows; located next to a building site. Nowhere to hang clothes and just little inconveniences like the bedside lights switches located at the opposite end of the room. The awful… Noise - when the air conditioning wasn’t rattling like mad, it was the industrial sized washing machines in the laundry below from the early hours that felt like a plane was continually taking off under our room. After three nights, we left exhausted and ready for a quieter space. Looking at reviews, mechanical noise seems to be a regular issue. For a hostel, I would just have put up and shut up but after paying a premium hotel price, the noise was not acceptable. We’ve also got loads of random small charges on our invoice for coworking and well-being which I queried and received no response. It all looks great on the website and the funky branding lures you in but the reality is, we got ****** in by clever photos and copy - there is a gap between what they promise and what you get for the cost. I think they need to maybe stay in their lane and focus on delivering a great hostel experience rather than trying to dress up overpriced and mediocre rooms as a hotel offer at hotel prices. We’ve stayed in four other places to date and the Selina by far offered the least value for money (and we got a ‘deal’ at £115 per night without breakfast). We were excited to stay somewhere a little different - and left tired, disappointed and a little ripped off. Unfortunately we fell for the slick marketing.
