Lovely country pub famous in Lakeland for hospitality, we loved our Sunday lunch , with Yorkshire puds overlapping the plate!! Returned for chippy Tuesday and had the best ever fish n chips and even doggy got a fishy meal Super place worth supporting

I usually don't write reviews, however on this occasion I feel compelled to express my delight of choosing the Queens Head to host a birthday celebration following the recommendation on friends. From the moment I first met Mark & Samantha, along with the team at the Queens Head, I noticed straight away this was the ideal venue to host a special birthday which included a large group of friends and family in attendance. The whole planning and celebration was simple and seamless, which I am grateful for. Their aim was to ensure the whole party relaxed and enjoyed the celebrations which to my amazement included dressing the private room. Most of the party choose to stay overnight at the Queens Head which with all rooms beautifully presented, exceptionally comfortable at an amazingly competitive price. The quality of the food is exceptional with the breakfast a feel treat in addition to the great selection of fine cask ales, beer, wine and sprits all enjoyed in a warm friendly country pub environment. A special mention to Chloe for all her hard work were nothing was too much trouble, an asset to the Queens Head. Both my wife and I can not wait to revisit the Queens Head with the view of staying overnight again to enjoy the incredible home cooked food and hospitality of Mark and Sam along with the friendly team. If i could give a score greater than 5 (exceptional) then I would. In your in the area, my recommendation would be to visit the Queens Head and see for yourself.

What a fantastic place stayed two nights service was superb quality of rooms and overall detail of all the nice little extras first class ! Great bar great atmosphere food drinks first class and great to find a place that makes you feel very welcome

A fantastic night. The staff were excellent and the live music was just amazing. The only little criticism is the food that was provided on the night. Nothing really for vegetarians the food served was sliced Pork, Pate, Bread, Scampi and Cheese n Crackers. Xx

We stayed here for the first time in 15 years during which time it has both burned down and been rebuilt. It was just as good as we remembered. Room was lovely - spacious, clean and comfortable. Food was excellent - we had both dinner and breakfast. Every member of staff should be commended - all were very helpful and friendly. Beer choice good.

I have been here before, a few months ago, for lunch with a few friends, we enjoyed our meals. Then today I had lunch with some of the family. The bar/restaurant was not over busy, although it is August, we were seated promptly. The service was friendly and efficient, and we all had something different from the menu and all enjoyed our meal. Two were vegan and there was choice on the menu. The portions are certainly adequate!

Outstanding little hidden gem in the lake district. Food and drinks were to absolutely die for. Fantastic little walking booklet also which tells you about all the local walks. Staff were absolutely amazing and so accommodating and hospitable. Wouldn't stay anywhere else if we were staying in a hotel in the Lakes again. Thank you so much Ollie and Rebecca x

Visited here on Tuesday 18th after a Google search and drive back from Scotland. Great location, nice drive off the m6 and via Ullswater. Pub is on a quiet road with good parking, though can imagine when the pub is busier it's very difficult to park. The pub itself is very well designed, lots of wood and nice comfortable seating. Friendly staff and good choice of drinks, especially if you like gin. Food was great, we had starters and a main course. Only issue is the veg was frozen and reheated, understand its a rural location but just serve what's local. Also no English mustard! As a side note, though we don't have dogs yet, we'd definitely come back if we did. Lots of facilities for them from watering holes to lots of different choices of meals on the counter!

Excellent place for food. Creative chef with interesting different themes each night of the week. Good atmosphere and really helpful welcoming staff. Options for vegetarians and good beer on tap. Very dog friendly and great location surrounded by many options for walks and rides.

Picturesque location, amazing hosts and full of the yokels when we arrived for the new appointment of the new mayor, who gave us a tune or two. Gorgeous accommodation so clean, delicious food, staff so helpful and would love to go back. Could not fault anything . Stayed in great end.

The Staff were amazing, they couldn't do enough for us. The room was beautiful, welcoming and super clean. We had a very comfortable nights sleep. The breakfast was perfect. Our dinner was lovely. My only disappointment was the salad (main course) Other than the chicken, which was very nice, tomato and lettuce alone does not make for an enjoyable salad. Robinsons need to rethink their salads.

Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband. It is a real country pub with lovely views. They have 10 rooms in total. Everywhere is very clean, the room was cozy with a decent sized bathroom and a big comfy bed. They book you a table for your evening meal when you book your stay, that's a good idea as you are a good 10-15 minutes drive into Bowness if you wanted to eat out. Both evening meals were lovely and each day of the week they have an offer, eg Wednesday is curry night 2 for £25 bit thru still have their full evening menu on as well. Great choice of real ales, gin and wine. Breakfast was equally as good and nothing is too much trouble. They are dog friendly for staying and eating and even have a dog menu for food. Lovely outdoor seating area for when the weather is nice. Staff were all very friendly and helpful. Highly recommend and we definitely want to go back.

An excellent place to stay, great food and service. The room was great, with everything you need. Very dog friendly. One very minor thing was the tea bags were very weak and flavourless. Breakfast was superb and we ate at the pub for three nights. All meals were very good.
