I recently stayed at this hotel and had a great time. The staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was nice and had a balcony, which was perfect for relaxing. The eating area was big, and the menu had lots of good options. The best part was the view from my room in the morning—it was amazing and way better than I expected. The hotel is also in a good location, just a 30-minute walk from the churches, making it easy to explore the area. Overall, I highly recommend this hotel for its friendly service, nice rooms, and fantastic views.

Это однозначно лучшее место в городе. Но! За 2 ночи так и не было электричества (во всем городе). Включали генератор с 19:30 до 22:00 примерно. И самый большой минус - количество комаров, от которых не спасает даже москитная сетка, это ужас. Сам отель красивый, хороший ресторан (если говорить об Эфиопии), территория ухоженная, персонал тоже отличный. Если уж ехать туда, то в это место, лучше вряд ли найдете…

Sora Lodge is incredibly cute and full of character, especially the treehouse accommodations. The hidden trap door leading to the bathroom is such a fun and unique touch that makes the experience feel special. The food was consistently delicious and very reasonably priced, which was a pleasant surprise. A yummy giant bowl of pasta was about $3. The hotel can also arrange guides for local activities, and those were fairly priced as well—making it easy to explore without hassle. The spa is fantastic and, again, very reasonably priced for the quality offered. The location is excellent and adds to the overall appeal of the stay. Overall, a wonderful place with great value, thoughtful details, and a relaxing atmosphere. I would absolutely recommend it.

I'm totally agree with the reviews that make this lodge t the first rank in lalibela. very helpful staff, large and cozy rooms, magnificent view.

An exceptional hotel that complements the magic of Lalibela. Our room was beautiful and clean, the Cocktails Bat offering unforgettable sunset views over the Ethiopian highlands. The breakfast was delicious, featuring both local and international dishes. The staff were exceptionally kind and knowledgeable especially the Receptionist Habtelwald, enhancing our visit to the historic churches. This hotel understands its unique setting—offering a peaceful, reflective retreat after a day of exploring the awe-inspiring rock-hewn wonders. A perfect base for a spiritual journey.

I had a wonderful experience at Sora Lodge in Lalibela. The rooms were very comfortable, clean, and offered beautiful views of the surrounding landscape. It’s a peaceful place to relax after a day of exploring. The service was consistently warm and attentive. The on-site restaurant was great as well—not only was the food tasty, but I even had the chance to participate in making my own injera, which was a fun and memorable experience. The lodge also arranged a local guide for me, a knowledgeable and friendly guide known as “Fish.” He was incredibly insightful, explained everything clearly, and made the visit to the rock-hewn churches much more meaningful. My airport pickup was smooth, and the driver was a very nice guy too—punctual, polite, and welcoming. Overall, Sora Lodge made my stay in Lalibela unforgettable. Highly recommended!

This was my second visit to the amazing town of Lalibela and it was enhanced by my lovely stay at Sora. I’m a Photographer on a working trip with my daughter. And I stayed in the largest round cottage and she stayed in the smaller one. It was very comfortable. Beautiful views and good service. I’m a very picky eater and not a fan of Ethiopian food. The staff aside from the managers speak little English but they worked with us till I was able to find meals that worked for me. The staff is all very friendly and tries their hardest to please you. I’ll stay there again.

Great place to stay. Wonderful views. Big comfortable rooms which were kept clean. A very nice place to begin and end your day after touring. Beautiful sunsets. Kudos to the restaurant staff!!!

Amazing view over the valley, near the city of Lalibela. We had some issues with the rooms..there 2 different types of buildings: the traditional ones with the nice view and the normal one…as I were with a group I received the room the “normal building “..when I asked for a better/different room I was told..i received that the agency paid for…kind of a rude answer.:) eventually the tour leader decided to change rooms…although I mentioned to the hotel l’ll pay extra…breakfast was nice, lunch also.

The view was amazing! Both the room and the restaurant offered stunning views. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant not only had a great view but also served delicious food. The internet was fast and reliable, which made it a lovely place to work from. Highly recommended for both relaxation and remote work!

A family of mine and I stayed at Sora lodge Lalibela which was the best hotels we have stayed in Ethiopia . The views from our rooms and from the sunset bar was unforgettable. The staff is very friend and helpful. They made us feel at home and they were very sweet to our children . The garden is also very beautiful with lots of sitting areas. The food at the restaurant was very good with their own vegetables growing in the garden. I strongly recommended to anyone especially to family with children .

Sora was a lovely lodge with friendly staff and stunning views everywhere you sat. We arranged a guided tour of the churches with the lodge, which worked quite well. The food at the restaurant was delicious with quite a few options. The sunset bar which also has some cocktails was great to end our day.
