It’s beautiful and service is good, but the location is quite remote. Clean beach with activities. Value for money is poor - it’s too expensive for what it is, and the restaurants are costly. It’s supposed to be a duty free island, but they were selling a bottle of wine in the restaurant for 34,000 ringgit!! Food overpriced too. We stayed at the Ritz Carlton before which we thought was better located, and better value. We would visit again, because the villa we stayed in was nice and quite unique. But I think you can get a similar experience, for less, at other resorts.

This is now my top choice for a resort. Every single staff member was incredibly nice. The hotel's design, clearly the work of a master, truly sets it apart. It felt like staying in a zoo, but without any of the insect problems, which was wonderful. Such a beautiful memory.

I highly, highly recommend The Datai. First and foremost, the service is incredibly thoughtful. From the moment we arrived, we felt so well taken care of. They even prepared separate welcome treats and drinks for the kids. The rainforest treehouse room was also very comfortable, timeless in its appeal, and all the facilities were impeccably maintained, showing no signs of age. In the afternoon, fresh chocolates would be delivered to our room, and when we were relaxing on the beach, ice cream would magically appear. No matter where we went, we felt looked after – truly service with attention to every detail. The beach is fantastic, and there are plenty of water activities. We even got to participate in the birdwatching activity we were really looking forward to. The food and beverage prices were within a reasonable range, I even thought they were quite affordable. It's definitely a place I'd love to visit again.

One of the best hotels I ever been!!! I stayed in a rain forest villa and it was wonderful! Everything was perfect !!! The private beach is great, the best beach in Lamgkawi! Stay in this hotel some days (at least 2-3 days), It's a once-in-a-lifetime experience!!

The pinnacle of resort hotels. This hotel offers the best of both worlds: a forest and a beach vacation. Seeing some small animals was a delightful experience. It's a good idea to check the local weather before you go, as there's not much to do during the rainy season.

Breakfast was a highlight, with an incredible spread and even free-flow champagne, making mornings extra special. I celebrated my birthday here and it was the best I’ve ever had — unforgettable in every way. I especially loved the adult-only pool, which was so quiet and peaceful, a perfect place to unwind and soak in the surroundings. The Datai has left me with beautiful memories and I will definitely return. Highly recommended to anyone looking for a serene, luxurious getaway.

Great Holiday Venue to unwind, great food and services and hospitality

5/5 — A Truly Magical Stay in the Rainforest We had a wonderful and incredibly relaxing stay at The Datai Langkawi. From the moment we arrived, the service was absolutely top-notch. every staff member made us feel welcome, comfortable, and genuinely cared for. It was impressive (and touching) that many of them greeted us by name throughout our stay. The level of hospitality here is on another level. The room was perfect — beautifully designed, spacious, and surrounded by nature. Stepping out into the rainforest felt surreal, like being in a different world. During our stay, we spotted hornbills, macaques, and dusky leaf monkeys (also known as spectacled langurs) with their distinctive white “spectacles.” Such an incredible experience to be so close to wildlife in their natural habitat. The pool and beach were both fantastic, quiet and serene, with excellent service all around. The restaurants were excellent as well — consistently delicious food, whether breakfast or dinner, paired with attentive, warm service. Every moment felt effortless and peaceful. We loved our stay so much that we’ve decided to make The Datai our annual short getaway.

The Datai Langkawi lives up to every bit of the hype. Tucked into an ancient rainforest with views of one of the world’s most beautiful bays, it’s the perfect mix of barefoot luxury and nature. The staff are warm and attentive, and even the smallest details feel thoughtful. It’s also big on sustainability—you can feel good about staying here. Whether you’re lounging in a villa, spotting wildlife, or just soaking up the calm, The Datai is truly something special. All the awards? Absolutely deserved

The facilities and hygiene were excellent, and the dining was also good. Although it's no longer a new hotel, it's very well-maintained, and the location is great. The beach is fine-grained, and the beach club is perfect for relaxing. The rainforest trekking guide was also excellent. However, the service was mediocre and didn't match the hotel's positioning; I wouldn't say it was bad, but it certainly wasn't great. If you go in with low expectations, you might be pleasantly surprised.

The service was impeccable, and the environment was wonderful. There were plenty of activities, and my child and I unlocked quite a few new skills together. The only minor downside is that getting to and from town is a bit of a distance from the hotel, but otherwise, everything was fantastic.
