Regal Inn Las Vegas New Mexico

This is an older motel with a great idea—you can drive right up to your room! It looks like it was once well kept—the outside looks good—but is now being let to run down. There were some holes in the wall from someone slamming the door open so hard the dead lock and handle hit the wall and some other screw holes and such. It was ok for a night. When we walked in a woman came to the desk from the apartment behind and when we said we wanted a room, she walked away (why did she even show up?) and got an older man who checked us in. He tried to charge us $90 because we checked in at 9 am, but we had already told him we were only checking in, but wouldn't use the room until around 2:30, so after we told him again the same thing and said it was $75 online, he gave it to us for $75. Las Vegas is a pretty run down place and probably best to avoid this town, but we had business there. We had stayed in a rundown "historic" hotel the night before and left quickly, so we were only making sure we'd get a room. We had nothing to fear because hardly anyone stays there. The ice, as previously noted, is far, far away at the end of the motel they don't seem to rent. Trucker like it because the parking lot is quite large. they can turn their trucks around, but there were only 3 or 4 rooms rented. Some living care would bering this place back and make it unique, but it seems the present owners don't care.

I didn't expect luxury for this price, but I expected the room to be cleaner. The bed frame itself was really dusty and the boxspring edges looked a bit grimy. A short black hair was left in the bathtub when I checked in. There's a lot of dust on the floors, which leads me to doubt the vacuuming is not a priority. There are hand written signs on the property with a scolding tone, too. As soon as you check in you see one that says NO BREAKFAST! (Yeah, there's no breakfast.) There's another one with LAUNDRY RULES. Lots of stuff on that one. When I checked in at one far end of the motel I walked to the lobby for ice. A voice from a back room yelled out "over by room # whatver!" Literally, the ice was clear at the other end of the buildings where none of the guests were staying. I saw people driving to get ice. It was very hot out and it was quite a trek for people. And why couldn't someone actually come out from the back and smile and tell me about the ice machine? The wifi is very weak. Bring shampoo (I always do) because you will get a plastic packet, like the ones used for soy sauce, of runny blue "shampoo and conditioner." The best I can say is it was quiet. Very few guests.
