Fantastic and cozy place to stay! Everything was clean and comfortable. My son and I stayed there and it was our favorite stop. Loved all of it and the staff and owner were incredibly nice and helpful. The meals at the restaurant were also great!

This is my first review on trip advisor. After a long vacation, , taking the time to write a review was never on my list. As a busy mom of four, I was always headed straight to the laundry room when I got home. However, I do feel this review needs written regarding our stay at these cabins First of all, our travel agent booked our stay. We paid her company directly and not a booking company online. She told me that this resort had good reviews on trip advisor and that is why she chose to book our stay there. Trusting she is in this business and knows what to look for, we allowed her to take control. She has never failed us before. Upon arrival, one of our 2 cabins was not ready so we had to wait 2 hours until we could get into our cabin. Which was fine for us and not a huge problem because we had the other cabin our kids were in to sit and wait. The young girl at check in was very sweet as well as the lady cleaning the cabins. Our cabin windows were all closed due to the late cleaning which, we understood. The weather was unusually hot while we were there making the cabins around 85 degrees inside. When we immediately opened the windows, as warned at the front desk, flying biting insects flooded our cabin so we shut the windows quickly leaving the biting insects inside and the cabin becoming a sauna and feeding frenzy for the pests. When I called the main desk to ask if they had a fan, they said they did not and advised us to use insect spray on our bodies to help us sleep. Not only were the flying insects a problem, while sweating and literally picking flying insects off your body, sand fleas were also jumping on you from the main living area. At 1:00 am, 2 of our family members chose to move into the car to sleep while the others slept on the linoleum floor trying to stay cool. We left in the morning before anyone was even at the check out counter since it closes at 9pm and opens later in the morning. We chose to leave even though we had paid for 2 more nights ..paying for 2 cabins. You can do the math. These cabins are quaint yet, dated. They are located in an untamed vast natural area. I completely understand that the environment cannot be controlled. However, screens do exists in the area as we noted while exploring the country. Management knew and warned us about the flying insects yet, failed to invest in fans or screens which both, repel biting midges. After our experience, I invested time into reading previous reviews and realized this was not their first review regarding these issues. Furthermore, the manager, unprofessionally replied to a previous review calling the customer “clumsy” because she tripped on the flooring entering the bathroom. K.R, the managers initials clearly needs to attend a workshop on people skills and should not be in the customer service business. His replies are harsh and insulting. His unpolished personality is a reflection of the type of service and overall stay in the cab

Absolutely miserable. The cottages are unbearably hot and you need to open up a window. But when you open the window you end up with flies all in your room (that bite). I would rather sleep outside. If that didn’t deter you the service was terrible and the pools that are included are flie infested hot tubs. We called front desk to complain and no refund was offered but we are in luck they have bug spray! Save my ourself the trouble and stay in reykovich at a hotel.

Average place. A few things to feedback. 1. Room heater not all functioning. For cold weather this is not good. 2. Kitchen provides dish detergent but no sponge for washing. Hope in future can provide. 3. TV only has one working channel. Not sure why there is a need to have a blue Ray dvd player as people doesn't usually travel with dvd. Hope this can improve. 4. Laundry prices varies across whoever is doing reception. We asked the night we arrived and it was 2000 including drying. Next morning we bring over the price is 3000 including drying. Overall stay comfort wise average. Location is good though as we got to see aurora borralis within 100m of the cottage.

Terrible customer service and others. We will not spend a lot of time on writing about this place because they don’t deserve it. Almost all feedbacks you can have from MSYMd , Passport801859 and they are very appropriate. Kind regards and never see you again

They don't provide with basic toiletries like body wash and shampoo. Zero in hospitality. The property expects you to empty your trash while you check out. Would not recommend this property to anyone.

Billed as charming and rustic but anything but ! I have stayed at camp grounds and state parks that look like 5 star resorts next to these poor excused for lodging. First of all , could not check in prior to 6pm. Which meant our cottage was shut tight since night before. Told not to open the windows by the manager/ staff or we would be bitten by sand flies all night-true statement! That night our quaint cottage become a 90 degree gullag. No one on our party slept a wink. We enquired with the staff about solutions at 9pm. Their less than friendly response - sleep with bug spray all night. Yes , you heard it especially in an environmentally conscious country - you should wear Deet to sleep They know that they have a problem but refused to take any corrective measures. How about putting screens on the windows? How about offering guests fans? Instead, their solution is that you should wear bug spray all night long. Furthermore, their advertised 15 pools is a joke. What this translates into is that some of the cottages have hot tubs and some do not. In fact, often times the hot tubs are only partially filled. When I enquired the next day into a fan or screen or refund … they said you will get nothing and “we don’t care what you post on social media “ In conclusion, staying here may well ruin a trip of s lifetime .. and lastly , remember they don’t care !

You will get NO sleep!!!!! It was 60f degrees outside (perfect), but you can’t open the windows to sleep because you will get eaten alive by flies. So the cottage turns into an oven and you roast and sweat. They don’t have any fans or screens on windows. Called the front desk to complain and they said to put bug spray on before bed. Who wants to sleep covered in bug spray. Also, if you open the windows it’s too light outside to get a good night sleep. I would give this place zero stars if I could. Will never come back. Completely ruined our Iceland trip. Ps- not close to any restaurants and 22 min drive to Selfoss.
