Took a “staycation” birthday night at the hottest new place in Loudoun County. For the price (and compared to similar boutique hotels), the Burg has some maturing to do. While the decor and architectural finishes are top notch and perfect for Loudoun County “country chic,” the hotel guest experience was lackluster. Rooms were beautiful but quite basic in their appointments - no robes, no toiletries (nail file, qtips, cotton balls, etc.), no turn down/evening chocolate/mint, etc. At this price point, this is a must. The nespresso machine is an upscale touch but only two caffeinated pods were provided. The staff were “too busy” with a large group meeting to find any more (let along bring them to the room). Yes, there is coffee service in a common area for an hour each morning but don’t think my morning attire would have been suitable for public viewing. Linens were fine - towels soft and thick, duvet fluffy - but the bed was hard; a pillow top mattress or optional feather bed would be a great luxe add. Last, one of the perks of a Hotel Burg stay is access to the rooftop bar area, however it’s closed in the winter (understandable). Perhaps as a compensatory measure, guests should get access to the speakeasy. None of these details (short of mattresses/featherbeds) are large expenses to increase the value perception of the guests. Looking forward to trying again in a few months.
