Hotel Indigo LIJIANG ANCIENT TOWN by IHG

To sum it up: I really liked the hotel. The service was excellent, but the facilities were a bit lacking. Pros: 1. The service was impeccable; all the housekeepers were wonderful. They were very responsive to requests and handled everything with great emotional intelligence. However, since all the hotels I've stayed at in Yunnan this trip have had exceptional service, I've almost gotten used to it... 2. The room truly had everything: chargers, wireless chargers, a coffee machine, kettle, and tea set. The tea leaves were pretty good too. All the amenities you'd expect in other hotels, and then some, were available – very comprehensive. 3. The overall ambiance was very comfortable. I only found out after checking in that the hotel has been open for over a decade! You wouldn't be able to tell at all! It's very well-maintained. I traveled with my parents, and we stayed in two separate bungalows. They were very satisfied. Cons: 1. The soundproofing of the building itself isn't great. I stayed on the first floor. If there was anyone upstairs, I could clearly hear footsteps and water running. It was quite frustrating, especially since I chose this hotel specifically for a quiet night's sleep... and it seems the deluxe rooms are all on the first floor... 2. The house design is nice to look at, but it completely overlooks practical living flow. For example, the place for slippers is at the very back of the room. So, I had to walk across the room in my dirty shoes to get to the slippers... what was the point of changing slippers then? The room floor just got dirty. The placement of the sink and faucet was also odd; water would splash all over the mirror... It's a real shame. Overall, it's a great place. But if the soundproofing issue can't be resolved, I probably won't stay again. Hardware issues like this (especially the noise between floors) are likely not something that can be fixed in the short term.

We chose Indigo for our first night in Lijiang. The day before arrival, they called to confirm our check-in time and any special requests. From the moment we arrived, I didn't have to touch my luggage once. For breakfast, we opted to go to the InterContinental, and the food selection was incredibly rich. David, the front desk manager, was very enthusiastic and accommodating with all our requests!

This hotel offers a fantastic experience. From the moment I stepped into the lobby, I felt the attentive and thoughtful service. The room design is very tasteful, with attention to detail evident throughout. The bathroom has a separate wet and dry area, and the toiletries are of high quality. The view from the window is also very open and expansive, making it incredibly pleasant to just relax in the room with a book and coffee. The front desk staff were very friendly and even thoughtfully prepared welcome fruits, making me feel right at home.

The Lijiang Indigo Hotel truly nails the Tea Horse Road style! The hygiene is impeccable, and the bedding and toiletries are all high-quality. The room's soundproofing is excellent, so it's completely quiet at night. King (the staff member) was professional and attentive, responding quickly to any requests. Overall, the experience was perfect. It's very close to the ancient town, making it a foolproof choice for any trip.

The hotel is right next to the South Gate of the Ancient City. There's an alleyway right beside it that leads directly into the ancient city. It's about a 13-minute walk to Mufu Palace. The alley also has some great coffee shops and breakfast spots, and there are plenty of restaurants nearby.

Returned to pick up a forgotten jacket from a few days ago and was upgraded to a villa suite again! Huge thanks to William for his incredibly attentive service during my extended stay, and to all the other front desk staff – everyone was so warm and friendly! I had barely left when I received a WeChat message informing me I'd left my phone in the room – I guess I really didn't want to leave, haha! 😂 I'll recommend InterContinental Indigo to all my friends visiting Lijiang; it's simply fantastic!

Facilities: Complete and distinctive. Hygiene: Clean. Environment: Quiet with local ethnic characteristics. Service: Excellent! We got a free upgrade to a room with a courtyard. Special shout-out to our butler, King, who provided attentive and thorough service throughout our stay. Breakfast was great, with a rich variety and good quality.

The essence of the Caravan Culture is evident throughout, with delightful surprises in every detail. I've stayed in many hotels, but Indigo Lijiang instantly captivated me. What truly impressed me was the pervasive "horse" theme – from the giant horse sculpture at the entrance and the leather saddle decor behind the front desk, to the horseshoe patterns on the room carpets, horse stirrup hangers, and even the leather elements incorporated into the key cards and note holders. The entire hotel feels like a modern-day caravan inn, perfectly embodying the historical richness of the Tea-Horse Ancient Road. Staying here, you can almost hear the faint sound of horse bells drifting from the foot of the snow-capped mountains. This immersive cultural experience is truly unique! Hygienic and Ambiance: Healing Moments in the Courtyard The hotel's cleanliness is impeccable; not a speck of dust in any corner. The environment is picturesque – a typical Naxi courtyard with flowing streams, fragrant flowers, and singing birds. Ground-floor rooms with small courtyards allow you to step out and bask in the sun or relax with a cup of tea. My second-floor room also had excellent natural light, with Lijiang's blue sky above, instantly providing that vacation relaxation. Although the hotel has some history, the facilities are incredibly well-maintained, and the design remains stylish and timeless. Service: A special shout-out to David The service deserves the highest praise, especially our butler, David. From the moment we connected on WeChat before check-in, he thoughtfully inquired about our arrival time and helped arrange our room type. During check-in, he patiently explained the horse culture details in our room and even provided a thoughtful itinerary for exploring the ancient town. No matter when I messaged him during our stay, he responded instantly – our food delivery was promptly brought to our room. David's genuine, warm, and professional demeanor made us truly feel at home. Other hotel staff were also very friendly; the housekeeping aunties and lobby bellhops always greeted us with a smile. This perfectly balanced warmth was incredibly touching. Facilities: High-Quality Amenities, Perfect Experience The guest rooms are equipped with Dyson hairdryers, Marshall speakers, and humidifiers. The mini-bar drinks and capsule coffee are complimentary and replenished promptly. The toiletries are from the "Shanghai Tang" series, with a delightful scent and luxurious feel. In summary, Indigo Lijiang is a hidden gem that excels in culture, environment, service, and facilities. On my next visit to Lijiang, I will undoubtedly choose to stay here again, and I will definitely seek out David!

Great location, right within the ancient city walls! It's just a 5-minute walk to the old town. The hotel service was absolutely top-notch; they were incredibly warm and accommodating, always ready to help. I'll definitely be staying here again!
