We stayed at the hotel thankfully for only one night in a junior suite. The bed was disgusting. It had all black dirt in it and a few small black hairs. When I first put my leg under the cover it came out dirty. I had to sleep on top of the covers, as the bed was so disgusting. It didn’t appear to have been cleaned. The towels were stained and didn’t appear to have been washed. The air conditioning did not work. It would not turn on. The curtains were stained. Shower was mouldy and rusted. The overpriced airport transfer never showed up, despite us confirming twice that it had been booked. Someone from the hotel frantically ran us to the airport. I could hear word for word conversations from the room next door. I definitely would not recommend this hotel. Very poor value for money. There must be better in Lilongwe.

I recall we were all excited when Latitude opened in Lilongwe, offering a new and much needed higher end option and it was good, quirky but with decent rooms, facilities and restaurant. Unfortunately things have changed since then, my most recent visit was a comedy of errors reminiscent of an episode of Fawlty Towers. Whilst the staff were very apologetic it is clear that the management is ineffective and when that happens, things fall apart. I arrived early and left my luggage with the team whilst I did some work awaiting the room to be ready. When it was I asked for my luggage but no one knew where it was, it transpired it had been delivered to someone else’s room, they thought this was very funny, I did not. Upon entering my allocated room it was clear that it had been used by smokers, not acceptable. Back to the waiting room for an hour. The room I was subsequently allocated is in a block of rooms being externally painted, no problem, however it was very disconcerting when sitting on the balcony working to have a face come round from the next door balcony to look at me, presumably hoping I had gone so they could paint mine. When they did come to paint mine, there was no warning, just a removal of the furniture, throwing down a dust sheet and getting on with it. Internally it is quite nice, though to get the plug where the kettle is to work, you need to push the socket against the wall, presumably a loose connection. On my final morning, after leaving the gym, there was no water, I phoned and half an hour later, having heard nothing, I went to the reception where they informed me a pipe had burst, this was subsequently fixed. Times are hard in Malawi and cost of living is sky high, whilst the staff try hard, there is something really wrong here.

We took some Chinese guests to the restaurant. The food was mostly average in quality but I had a dreadful steak and kidney pie - too dry. Our most senior guest could barely pick off a tablespoon of chicken off three pieces of Chicken Tika Marsala - very embarrassing. The cost of the food was 40% higher than other restaurants in the area that served better food. My food was delivered 10 minutes after all the other diners had received their food. Overall: I would not recommend this restaurant due to high cost and average to poor food and in my case, poor service making me wait for my food.

I stayed at the hotel for business purpsoes. My crdit card was overcharged on my following my stay at your hotel from 20–22 January 2026. My card was charged MWK 350,200. I have been in contact with Ms. Mphatso regarding this issue, and despite her assurances of a refund, no action has been taken so far. I have also attempted to speak with the manager on duty, but I am still awaiting a response. This experience is not a good feeling

We stayed at Latitude 13 for a one‑night stopover before catching a flight, and it was a real treat. The beds were super comfy, and we all had a great night’s sleep. The kids loved the pool – even though it was very cold in August, it didn’t stop them from having a dip! The waiting staff were really lovely and even suggested hot chocolate afterwards to help them warm up, which was a thoughtful touch. The food was excellent – fresh, tasty and beautifully presented. It is a bit on the expensive side for Malawi, but definitely worth it if you’re looking for something special. Overall, a stylish, relaxing spot to recharge before travelling. Would recommend if you’re happy to spend a little extra for comfort and good service.

I came to Latitude in November for dinner and lunch. I had local beef stew wit rice, I enjoyed our local Kuchekuche beer. I enjoyed the service. Christina was the one serving me and I'm looking forward for her service next time I visit Lilongwe.
