Palmera Beach
4.4/542 Reviews
We stayed at Palmera beach for 10 days to celebrate my 50th birthday! From the moment we checked in to the day we left,we were treated with respect and kindness. Helen, always had a ready smile. She went out of her way to put in some balloons, a lovely message in a card and a lovely bottle of wine on my birthday! Everyone at reception always made sure we had everything we needed and always had a smile for us. Chef Ali was awesome,he made me a special birthday dinner and it was so yuuumy!. The two gentlemen waiting on us in the restaurant were so lovely- special mention goes to Vasyli(hope spelling is correct)! He took great care of us everytime we were in the restaurant. There was a wide variety of dishes everyday and even my fussy eater found more than one thing to eat for the duration of our stay. I especially loved the freshly prepared salads and dips. Everyone we met at Palmera was friendly and helpful. Special mention also go to the two gentleman who carried our heavy luggage up the stairs for us as we were staying in the suites with no elevator. My daughter also treated me to a 3 hour spa experience on my birthday and I have to say,it was one of the best I've had so far! The masseuse (mortified I lost the card with his name) was very respectful and friendly during the treatment. He made sure I was comfortable throughout. Our rooms were cleaned everyday, towels replaced and drinking water bottles replenished. We loved the private jacuzzis in the rooms as we could use them as and when we fancied it. There were less crowds so time on the beach and out in tiwn was lovely. The weather was perfect and the sea water was quite warm and enjoyable for a swim. It's a cat lover's paradise, there were cute kittens and cats everywhere! My daughter ”adopted” and named a a few of them during our stay. Her favourite was a kitten she named Chaos, there was Boots and cool Dude! Couple of things to grumble about was the leaking plant pot outside our room, there was always a streak of water across our doorway. The big white and grey laundry bags left on the landing some days were a turnoff. Having said that, we would absolutely go back again!

I will try and keep this review to the point. Arrived for a 7 day stay at this hotel. Hotel looks amazing from everywhere. Booked a dazzling sea view room and when we arrived I realised it was not a dazzling sea view room and was more what other hotels would refer to as a partial sea view room - showing slight sea view from a corner. I raised it with staff who advised it was sea view but could look at it tomorrow which given the time I agreed to. I also raised it with my travel company. The following morning in the afternoon I was shown another room which wasn’t a proper sea view either. Given that I paid a considerable amount more for a sea view I wasn’t happy with the room provided. I showed the guy in reception the photo of the room I chose when booking and he told me that it “was just marketing” to which I responded it’s false advertising - he then walked off and left us. Later in the day we had a call from guest relations to ask how our first night had been etc which was nice and I explained the night had been ok but room wasn’t good. The lady told me I was in a urban city room not a dazzling sea view which I had chosen and paid more for. I later received a call from my travel company who advised that another room would be shown. Guest manager maria advised she wasn’t sure why we had been told it was city urban view but the new room was front facing sea view - we eventually moved on day 2 and there was no reimbur*****t for the days we were in the incorrect room. The new room was good but just a shame that it took so long to resolve as nobody wants a bad start to their holiday. My second critique of this hotel is front reception staff - mainly the men. Their attitude is poor and any questions appear to be a chore for them. When we arrived I asked about late checkout as our flight wasn’t until 11.55pm. I was told to request it a day before which I did. I was then told to come at 9pm and I explained I had dinner reservations but would come later In the night. I already knew there was an additional charge to keep the room which I was happy to pay. I was then told the hotel was fully booked and late checkout was not available now but we would have access to facilities. This again left a sour note to the holiday as it meant we had to rush and pack and then didn’t have comforts of using bathroom or resting etc. I also checked the hotel website and *********** which showed the hotel did have room availability so the guy on reception was being dishonest. I did challenge him On this but he didn’t appear to care and said if I wanted to book another room I could but it wouldn’t be ready until 3pm the next day. I could write so much more about this experience but overall it really ruined the day and final day of holiday. What was meant to be a relaxing day ended up being stressful as we had to be out the room by 11 and then had nowhere to really rest. Now onto the positives because there are some. Sun beds / beach etc is accessible and you can get a be
Acropolis Apartments

We spent 2 nights at the Acropolis Apartment (25-27 August), but with the sign of then we would have been longer! The apartment is fantastic in everything, from location, to services, to staff! The location is excellent: right in front of the apartment there is a road with dress shops, a bar-restaurant, and a supermarket right next to (it is almost right under the apartment, but care about the prices, because they are a little short.. It is not good to buy food there, but to eat in the restaurants outside!). A shorter walk from the main road is reached immediately near a supermarket, a pharmacy and two stops for the KTEL bus: one to Heraklion, (which stops at both the airport and the center of Heraklion); and one that goes east of Crete (then Stalida, Malia, Agios Nikolaos, etc.) In 5 minutes walk you can also reach the sea-front road, and walking 2 minutes you can access directly to the beach! The room and services offered are really exceptional for the price paid! Our room was equipped with 2 comfortable and modern beds, spacious desk, a popup, a large mirror, a window door that allowed access to a large balcony with a table and 2 seats. The bathroom was equipped with a bathroom with a tent (I found the bathroom more comfortable than the douches with tent located in other facilities in Crete, because with their showers you risk flooding the floor). The staff does not put the soap at the disposal, so you need to arrange to take it. The kitchen room is large, with a single bed, a sofa, a table with 4 seats, a small refrigerator, a TV, and also here a window door opening on the balcony. There are pads, glasses, dishes, toasts, but there is a swamp and detergent for cleaning the stoves. The rooms are free of charge and I think you have to pay about €3-4 per device every night to have private wifi. Also the air conditioning is NOT free, but you have to pay a price of €7 per night. The apartment is equipped with large pool (with beds around), accessible from 9:00 to 18:00 The apartment has common rooms near the reception, on the ground floor and offers a bar-restaurant service at very good prices! In general, the stay exceeded our expectations much:) We were really very happy!
Creta Maris Resort

We went from 28 May to 4 June. We arrived just before midnight and so were advised to go straight for something to eat and then we were shown to our rooms. Good points - the resort is spotless, I think I saw two items of litter the whole holiday. The food at the buffet was the best of any all inclusive hotel I have been to. Being able to eat at the a la carte restaurants was also a treat. We managed to eat at them all and our favourites were Mademi and Pithos. You can only book one day in advance so top tip is to download the app and at 7.30am bookings for the restaurants open for the following day. This way we got to try all of the restaurants and the food at them all was very impressive and beautifully presented. We weren’t a fan of the main pool which was very busy, Sun loungers were saved early on. But if you explore you will find a pool that suits you. We loved the Pithos Pool, there were always sun loungers available and at times we had the pool to ourselves. Other pools also had loungers available throughout the day. We also weren’t a fan of the beach which is more pebbles than sand and packed with sun loungers but we loved the spot by the sea next to the Medemi restaurant. We always managed to grab a sun lounger and the view of the sea was much prettier here. Great spot for snorkelling. The gyros bar by the main pool is worth a visit for chicken or pork in a pitta wrap with salad and fries. There is also a smoothie/juice bar and ice cream bar next door. The outdoor cinema was also great although we got bitten a lot by mosquitoes so wear protection. The tv in the room had Netflix and YouTube which was great for the day of bad weather we had during our stay. We did struggle to find shelter during a thunderstorm because the bar area was busy but in the original reception area opposite the Estia restaurant we discovered another indoor bar area with lots of seating. The entertainment is less visible than other resorts but I suspect it is just because the resort is so big. They are based by the pool near the water slides. We watched the circus show one evening and the Disney show, both were very good. The staff are all very friendly and clearly take pride in the resort. On one evening my daughter left her bag in a restaurant and as soon as we realised we went to reception and were very impressed that it had already been handed in. We also left a tv fire stick in our room. My husband emailed the hotel to ask for it to just be removed and destroyed. The hotel replied within a few hours to say they had retrieved the device and had posted it back to us. Assuming it arrives back we are very impressed by this level of service. Few ******s if we are being picky… We booked sea view rooms but were on the side of the hotel so had to stand at the edge of the balcony and turn our heads to see a little bit of sea, which was a little disappointing. We were only ever offered one drink with the buffet meals and even with the a la carte book
Hersonissos Palace
