No.1 Pery Square Hotel & Spa

Limerick|0.98km from St. John's Church
The location is superb. Close to the train/bus station and away from the bustle of city traffic. Adjacent to the peoples park in a Georgian terrace. A great place for a solo traveller. Parking was not ideal, as it is across the street and down a lane. The staff at 1 Pery are friendly and helpful. My room was the perfect size, not too big and definitely not too small. No view, but I wasn't there for the view. However, looking across at another guest room was not something I wanted so I closed the curtain on that window. The other overlooked motley flat roofs - not picturesque. The bathroom had both bath and shower, which was excellent. Less than excellent was the lack of a shaver outlet for my electric toothbrush. And the sound effects from other rooms/other guests trying (?) to lock/unlock their doors was disconcerting. However, all was quiet after midnight. I would definitely stay here again. Then there was the Spa.....now that is an experience all in itself. I would recommend this spa to anyone. It is so quiet, peaceful. The treatment I had was over 1.5 hrs. At €135 I considered it very good value. Back neck and shoulder massage with full facial. You HAVE to try this. I chose a strong massage as I can't be dealing with faffing ... and it was amazing. My facial skin felt totally renewed afterwards. Go..go...you have to try this. Wonderful staff and everything had a calm unrushed quality even though they couldn't find my booking (made by the front desk) when I arrived.

Nice hotel with a supermarket next to it and free parking. The rooms are large, spacious and bright, the facilities are relatively new, and they are comfortable to live in. Cost-effective.

Stayed over the Christmas break, so rates were very high. This did influence my review as I expected more for the associated costs. Pros: Family run hotel, friendly and professional When we identified problems, they were resolved quickly - there were a few Really nice breakfast, efficient and helpful service Lovely breakfast area Popular with locals, which is always a great sign. Cons: Bedrooms are very small Bathrooms are tiny, expected more space for a hotel on city outskirts Leisure centre requires a much needed upgrade. All lockers broken, shower area badly needs to be regrouted and new tiles. Didn't want to use the showers as they didn't seem clean. The pool area is clean, but again, all the cracked tiles need to be changed.

There was a long queue for check in, fairly understandable as a group of contractors was checking in at the same time. However the one person on check in was having to run backwards and forwards in between check ins as a couple of people had rooms that had no keys. On getting to our pre booked family room, we found the room had only been set up for three people. The fourth bed was still folded up under the single bed. Reception finally came to sort out the problem and she took one look into the room and stated that the other bed was there and pointed. We use travelodge hotels regularly in the UK and I have not once ever had to put my own bed up and chase down sheets from reception and I wasn't starting this day. So she grudgingly put the bed up, grudgingly fetched sheets for it and then grudgingly agreed to bring toilet roll since there was none in the room. The good points are that the beds are comfy, there's a Tesco and a petrol station across the road and it is only ten minutes down the road to Bunratty Castle.

It is a relatively well-maintained three-star hotel from 20 to 30 years ago, but it is old after all. Many facilities are difficult to use and have a strong sense of age.

Eat well, live well, and the environment is good, very suitable for family trips
