We stayed in a lovely room with a comfortable bed. Fabulous breakfast. Landlady was very friendly and the service was excellent. Dinner was superb, particularly the venison stew, ohhh and the potatoes to die for. We will be staying there again.

Stayed here as a quick break and an ideal base to visit Lincoln. A traditional B&B/Inn, the bedroom was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. The dinner was excellent, compliments to the chef for the chorizo /prawns and chicken satay starters followed by the main course/s of venison stew and salmon & prawn linguini. All very reasonably priced. As is the choice of wines. A nice large bar area for pre or post dinner drinks. We found the hosts to be very personable and helpful. (some of the other reviews on here seem a little surprising with the negative comments!) The full English Breakfast was huge in portion size and very nice. Breakfast was ordered the night before so was served promptly at our requested time. Ample safe parking away from the main road. Village is pleasant for a stroll with a newsagent across the road and a petrol station a couple of minutes walk for any supplies required. Should we visit Lincoln again, would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Arrived on the day of the booking and called the number as instructed, the call was answered rudely with 'what's the name I will come down' I was met in the car park by the host without any hello or welcome just 'you are staying in this annex and are you eating tonight. I explained I wasn't sure as I had work to do so might just get a take away to which the reply was 'if you do make sure you put it in the bins as I don't want it stinking the room out!' which is fair enough but her attitude was terrible. Next question still stood in the freezing courtyard was breakfast order and what time? I said around 8 to which I got she needed an exact time. I decided to eat in the restaurant and called to see if they could fit me in the man i spoke to again was rude and abrupt saying they were very busy, i asked what was best for them and we agreed 6.30pm after been made to feel like a total inconvenience. When i went into the bar / Lounge area i was told to sit down as I approached the bar for a drink, odd as the bar was empty just wanted a drink before sitting down to be honest food was really good but the chef was obnoxious! As a rep staying at these kind of places week in week out I have not stayed in a property with such rude unprofessional and frankly awkward staff ever, so a course on customer relations would not go a miss! Just a few constructive house keeping remarks. Towels definitely have seen better days, the outside annex building heating is below what is needed, the room was extremely cold. Its a real shame as this place has real potential!

Well, I had read some of the previous negative reviews and dismissed them - perhaps I should have known what I was letting myself in for. I am not used to arriving at a B&B and instead of a welcome greeting I am immediately warned the carpets have just been cleaned. Room was nice and airy though the floor was very creaky, I felt sorry for the chap in the room below, trips to the bathroom during the night were .... noisy. Be aware that if you are staying for a number of days your room is not touched, bed not made, no fresh towels, no top up of tea/biccies. I would have rated 3 star on the above but I am afraid something cannot be overlooked, the front of house manager was awfully rude. Two potential customers came in, there was no "good evening", instead, a very vocal "if you haven't booked then you can't eat". Even though there were plenty of spare tables. The poor couple looked very upset as the people in the pub witnessed what had been said and their embarrassment. If you stand up to approach the bar for a drink you are bluntly told to "sit down and I will come to you when I'm not busy" ! It got to a point where I actually felt uncomfortable ! Another guest approached me and shared the same feeling. Not once was I asked "did you enjoy your stay", there was absolutely no trivial conversation whatsoever. I was tempted to revisit and challenge myself hoping to hear the words "thank you" but even though I am working near Tattershall ten days a month, this is one pub/B&B I will definitely not put my foot in ever again and will pass the word around. Such a shame, lots of potential, food was ok but I don't think the "hospitality field" is their ideal career choice.

Food and accommodation excellent. HOWEVER....., and I can see from many other reviews that we are not alone in experiencing really peculiar front of house service....observing potential customers rudely turned away or met with " have you booked " as a greeting ! Totally devoid of any warmth, friendliness, chat, or even a smile at any point .Giving the impression of being totally overwhelmed and too busy to do any of the aforementioned, when in reality the problem was her. Rude and clearly hates the ' INCONVENIENCE " of customers !

Amazing! The accommodation is tastefully decorated and in keeping with the history of it originally being a coach house. The facilities are lovely, very clean, lovely comfortable beds with fresh bedding and nice fluffy towels provided. Plenty of hot drink making facilities with added extras like hot chocolate and freshly ground coffee. The food in the restaurant was outstanding! We had fillet steak that Mark cooked perfectly to our liking. The addition of Stilton sauce was out of this world and a very generous amount. We finished with Pipp's homemade lemon cheesecake, absolutely gorgeous! The breakfast was served on time and delivered hot, again, lovely food. We found both Pippa and Mark very friendly and accommodating and loved staying with them. We will definitely be back and took a handful of business cards to recommend their business and pass around our friends. We very much look forward to returning. Thank you for a wonderful stay on all levels.

Not ideal for families with young children. When checking in we were informed to strictly not allow our children to run around the room which was quite an abrupt welcome. The owners were accommodating of an early breakfast of 7.45. Our baby was unwell & crying at 11pm that night & unfortunately we were made to feel very uncomfortable about this. We apologised to another couple staying at the Poacher that morning at breakfast, but were then swiftly told by the landlady in front of them that they were not the customers we should be apologising to. Again, making us feel very uncomfortable. The Poacher is in a brilliant location in the middle of the village so it is unfortunate that following this visit we shall not be staying again when we visit family in Metheringham.

We were staying locally and booked a table on Tuesday 12th September. We arrived at 6.30 which was when our table was booked for. Unfortunately on the night we attended , they had a staff shortage. We got our drinks. And waited patiently for a member of staff to come and take our order. We began talking to some contractors on the next table which helped pass the time. The bar maid came over with a replacement drink, for my partner , free of charge, and an apology for the delay in taking orders. A short while later our order was taken and our starters arrived. My partner requested a prawn cocktail,, it wasn't on the menu but they were kind enough to make her one. After which we had our mains. The staff were brilliant, despite being short staffed , they worked their pants off to accommodate all who were in the bar wanting food. We are planning on visiting the village again as we rented a cottage locally. Food , staff, and atmosphere were great just a shame they were short staffed on the night we attended . The photos supplied are of our starters , My partners prawn cocktail and my very unusual but tasty prawn and chorizo sausage in tomatoe dressing , Generous portions all round We will be back.

An extensive menu providing great choice. A delicious meal, every dish freshly cooked and very tasty. Good service in clean and well kept surroundings. We thoroughly enjoy our evening there and wished we’d had room for dessert!
