Excellent stay, warm welcome and amazing food. David made us feel very welcome and looked after us. The abbey has a lot of character and a wow factor! We loved the family room and it relaxed in the very grand sitting room after dinner. My only regret is that we had only booked for one night - will book for longer next time! Thank you for a lovely stay. And a shout out to the charming and helpful lady who couldn’t do enough for us at breakfast.

We ate here twice over the Christmas period, we are local and we eat here on special occasions. The manager/owner here is a lovely person and is an animal lover, he always gives a welcoming chat to all visitors, very professional and treats his staff like family. When we ate here on New Years Day it was a 3 course set menu choice for £24.95 including coffee and mince pies. There were 4 of us and it was no trouble for them to plate up a takeaway for our son who was back from Uni but at home “not feeling very well” (hangover!). I had the soup to start with then the beef- it was delicious. They have had the same head chef here for years and he is one of the best in North Wales. Always amazing food here. Everyone enjoyed their food and they have a lovely room to retreat to to take your coffee.

Bed was uncomfortable.. Shower couldn't be regulated, it went from scalding hot to cold. The TV wasn't programed into any channel. The toilet didn't always flush . Back of the wardrobe was falling off. Hot water tap broken and the sink had a very big crack on it that had been kind of mended. Curtains were hanging off the rail in places. Don't use the salt sellars at breakfast. I will try and post a picture of the one that was on our table.

Although the building is beautiful as you arrive unfortunately this did not appear the case inside. The room wasn't particularly clean, the bed extremely hard and the breakfast was not good, all deep fried which also meant the hotel smelt of oil when waking up in the morning. The hotel is dog friendly and were very accommodating if you want the dog with you when eating as they set us a table in the bar on the one morning we tried the breakfast (we didn't have it other days as really didn't like it). Although it was dog friendly there were a few cats at the property, which isn't ideal if your dog is reactive to them (luckily ours isn't). The bed was very uncomfortable and hard and when leaving another couple commented to the staff member how uncomfortable their bed was aswell. We did have an issue in the bathroom when the shower fell of the wall (it was kind of secured with filler from previously falling off I expect). This was reported and the man who seems to do everything in the hotel did 'fix' it for our one remaining night, which is fine but with the cost of the hotel you don't expect it to fall off in the first place. The couple leaving reported their hair dryer had broken that morning and just gave the general impression that some money definately needs to be spent on the internal aspects of the hotel as it really was not of a quality standard. The cardboard tiles in the bathroom meant you could hear everything in the room next door (including their toileting) which wasn't ideal. Although staff were friendly and the location was good we wouldn't return unless there was some serious improvements made. This is an honest review of our stay and this could really be an amazing place if some changes were made inside.

I booked Maenan Abbey as the photos looked amazing. My search criteria was "Spa Bath" and this came up, it looked brilliant and so I booked direct. The Beaumaris Suite is wall to wall Versace, and to be honest, it was a bit too busy for my liking but the double jacuzzi sold it to me. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the Proprietor, David, who was very welcoming and informative. The entrance hall is beautiful 🤩 The Hotel is very dog friendly. I think we were in the minority, not having a dog with us. However, we are dog lovers and had no issue with this. Soon after we checked in, a small problem with the room became apparent. I spoke to the lady on Reception who handled the issue brilliantly and the Proprietor was soon up to see us. David could not have been more professional and attentive. He assured us our issue would be dealt with whilst we went to Dinner, and he was as good as his word. The bar is very well stocked and the adjoining lounge is a great space to unwind after a day exploring North Wales. Breakfàst was a good quality cooked offering and served with a smile. They seem to be a small team at Maenan Abbey, but everyone that I met was a credit to the place, nothing was too much trouble. The Hotel is amazing, but as with all old buildings, it takes a huge amount of upkeep and does look a little 'characterful' in places. I wouldn't hesitate to come back, perfect location and fantastic Host and staff.
