This is the 12th year on the run that we have stayed in Lake Vrnwy Hotel and it never disappoints. Stunning setting, excellent customer service , beautiful rooms and lovely food . Recommend staying in Lake View rooms to really appreciate the beautiful setting.

WE went here for a birthday treat for my disabled husband. as there was no accessible rooms advertised i rang the hotel direct to ask for advise.of course they recommended the most expensive, which in a way i understood as it was the most spacious. found it to be most unsuitable to the point trying to shower the next morning it almost caused a serious accident, shower tray was raised, no grab rails and no anti slip mat! yes the hotel is dated and worn but almost adds to its charm, we were in the new part as there was a lift. i understand some features maybe listed but surely interior features could be altered. the food was ok.the menu looked good but not as good as it promised. the one shut out was to the staff, really couldnt do enough for us, made us feel very welcome, nothing was too much trouble. i have emailed hotel about room issues and not had a reply! so as much as the view is stunning, the staff helpful, its very unlikely we will return.

We paid extra for a superior room. Nothing superior about it. The room was dated and dirty. The spa was unclean, dirty towels and robes on the floor, cushions hanging off the chairs and TOE NAILS on the tables. Lack off hygiene. Me and my partner were actually discriminated by one of the members of staff and felt we were separated from the other guests when we sat down for dinner because we were dressed smart casual. I have emailed but no reply, they obviously get this a lot. We were scammed. A lot of money was spent on our night away at this ridiculously overpriced hotel and we will not be returning.

My husband and I stayed at the Lake Vyrnwy Hotel & Spa for 1 night only on 13/04/24. Neither of us had stayed nor eaten here before. It cannot be denied, the approach to this hotel is absolutely stunning. The views over the lake are breathtaking. Upon arrival, we received very prompt and efficient service from the reception staff. Although strictly speaking, check-in is not until 4pm, despite us arriving early at just before 2pm - we were told that our room was ready and were allowed early access. Great! We had booked a Superior Lake View Room. The room was large, spacious and benefitted from everything we would need for a luxurious romantic night away. Our specific reservation type came with a bottle of champagne and chocolate truffles which we both were devoured very quickly. But as expected, the star of the show was the fabulous view! As recommended on all the booking emails sent - we had reserved a 2 hour slot at the spa between 2pm - 4pm. This, a bid to make the most of the facilities for our 1 night stay. It is important to book ahead for the spa, we witnessed other people being disappointed when they learnt that they could not simply just ‘turn up’ as the spa was already booked full. The spa was small but had enough facilities to enjoy and relax. We enjoyed both dinner & breakfast at The Tower Restaurant. I will leave a review of the food on the restaurant’s Trip Advisor page. Pre dinner, we opted to go for a drink to The Tavern - a quirky little drinking hole at the upper end of the hotel. We both slept soundly in the very large comfortable bed. This location is so tranquil with not a spot of light to see through the midnight hours. We awoke to the stunning view and birds singing on our balcony. Heaven! Breakfast was served up until 10am, with check out slightly early than we would like at 10.30am. That said, this gave us a reason to get our walking boots on to wonder down and enjoy the many walks around the lake. Yes the hotel is quite dated for this modern day, but it is very clean and well maintained and provides a very enjoyable base in a stunning location. We most definitely would look to return here one day!

Hotel is in a fabulous location next to the lake and we chose a lake view room to make the most of it. However our room was VERY small (room 18), bed was not even a double and only room for one bedside table. The windows were old metal ones and were always misted up with condensation so we could not even see the gorgeous view. Bathroom was not particularly clean with tarnished chrome and a torn blind. The hotel is not cheap and was not good value for money and definitely not up to four star standard. That said the restaurant was very good. Lovely choice at both dinner and breakfast, well prepared and good service in a lovey location. It was only because of the restaurant that I have given 2 stars. Unfortunately unlikely to return.

We have been staying in this hotel for over 30 years, it is shame that it seems to have lost some of it's appeal. Of course it still has that magical view that can be enjoyed from the dining room and many of the rooms. And it still has that Olde Worlde charm and feel of a slightly run down hotel. What seems to be lacking are the little touches that once made the place so special. Dinner in the restaurant is now a fairly standard experience. Once it was special with a dress code and a formal routine to the meal and was a real treat. Now it is a more relaxed affair, which is fine, that's a sign of the times. But it does not feel like you are being pampered so much. The bedrooms are offered at 2 standard rates BB or DBB. The dinner option is a questionable bargain. You pay an extra £70 for the room and in return you get £70 allowance towards food in the restaurant. This probably makes sense to someone.

Just returned from a brilliant 2 night stay in room 3. The hotel is lovely, beautiful setting and the balcony on room 3 was an extra treat - would be amazing in summer. Staff are very friendly and great service all round. The real highlight is the food though - wow. We ate in both nights and had family come and join us the second night. We were so well looked after and the food was incredible. Breakfast is also really good and like the way they have the fruit pot and croissant waiting for you. If I stayed any longer I’d be in a food coma. The hotel is really well staffed and they have plenty of waiting staff on at all times. Also very good with the kids. Downsides - decor is a bit tired in a shabby chic way and especially the windows need looking at. Now I don’t come on holiday for a window but ours were a bit rotten and I think the bar area windows just need to be cleaner so you can see that incredible view! Though I imagine with the weather it is perhaps fighting a losing battle. EV charging - we were told the hotel has EV charging. Well it has an outside plug! So unless you have a 3 pin adapter absolutely no use. Luckily we were going to Zipworld that has type 2 chargers. Overall though fabulous food and lovely staff and I hope we can come back one day.

Fantastic view, can't beat it. Two open fires and lovely feel to it. The food delicious, beautifully cooked and perfectly presented but staff hard to find! Feels rather old fashioned and slightly chaotic but perhaps that is part of the charm.
