We loved this homely, welcoming hotel. Frank and Antje were very friendly and helpful. The village is so pretty, with beautiful views. The evening meal was delicious, our favourite dinner on our Andalusian holiday! Great breakfast too. Thank you.

We have just completed a weeks hiking in the hills surrounding this lovely hotel in Cartajima. Having stayed there before 13 years ago we were a little concerned about the recent change of ownership but we needn’t have worried. Frank is not only a great host but an excellent chef. He has maintained the open house tradition of LC. Dinner was always delicious ranging from Israeli inspired salad to Hungarian goulash all cooked superbly. All was prepared to accommodate the fact that I need to be gluten free. There was an eclectic mix of guests making for good conversation over dinner. Maria, a local villager, was always there to help with a warm welcoming smile. Rooms are comfortable but basic and the hotel offers a great base for hiking including the Caminito del Rey or visiting the local attractions at Ronda and other villages. The roof terrace offers a lovely location to relax after a days hiking. We would definitely recommend and return again if our walking legs permit.

This was our first stop on our 10 day drive around Western Andalucia and it was a good choice. Frank has taken over the helm and is doing a superb job after only 6 weeks as new owner/manager. We had a lovely welcome with gins on the rooftop terrace and admired the pretty village below. The hotel is comfortable and authentic and there are sustainable measures which are very pleasing to see. The meal cooked by Frank was indeed worthy of Yotam Ottolenghi and accompanied by wine from the locality. We managed a couple of walks around the village but wished we had been able to stay longer to do some of the nearby longer walks to adjacent villages. The chestnut groves and wildflowers are a sight to behold. This is a proper casa rural with a host who will help you get the most out of your stay in this area and to appreciate the joys of a most delightful part of Spain.

We spent three nights at this lovely small hotel in the pretty white village of Cartajima. Our room ( with balcony) was very clean , quiet and comfortable with moroccan style furnishings and a beautiful view over the mountains. The communal roof terrace has stunning view and is a great place to relax. Di and John were very welcoming hosts and we were lucky enough to have three delicious dinners cooked by Di. There are plenty of great walks in the area and we enjoyed exploring Ronda. We are looking forward to another stay.

Los Castaños is a true gem tucked away in Andalucia! Di is an excellent host and cook as well. I enjoyed staying at her place and eating Michelin level home cooked meals a lot. Cartajima and other white villages around are so much worth exploring. If I have a chance, I will definitely be back.

The room was immaculately clean with superb amenities. Bed was sooo comfy! The view from our room was breathtaking with the sun rising in the mornings over the Andalusia mountains - spectacular! Di and John were the perfect hosts and provided us with everything we needed and more, including wonderful, warm hospitality. The village is so very pretty and only a short drive to Ronda which is well worth a visit. Do make sure you check out the roof terrace and enjoy the panoramic view. Will definitely make a return visit.

We arrived tired and hungry after a very long day on the bikes and were welcomed warmly by the owners. Our bedroom had everything we needed from lashings of hot water to fluffy dressing gowns and the most stunning view. We were treated to a delicious meal and had hte most restful night. thank you so much! We will be back!

Close to Marbella and Malaga, but a whole different vibe in the mountains. I rode out of the lovely Monda and north, then south west via Alozaina and the fantastic El Burgo. Brilliant mountain roads for the motorbike. On through Ronda, (touristy) and into the mountains and Certajima. Di and Johns place is wonderful. I parked right outside and extended my stay to 5 days. Di made me a very nice meal and over the w/e I found the one bar, (which the locals stood outside and cooked two types of Paella. It was very quiet in September and the bar shut part of the week. Di and John's place is very nice with the roof garden etc. I had several good ride outs including the 7303/7302 in the Chestnut and Cork trees via Juzcar and Farajan. I also took the 7304 out to Igualeja and Pujerra finding several bars for coffee etc. I met some friendly Belgium bikers and at the end of my stay two british couples. Recommended place to stay. I'd go back, for sure.

Liebevoll eingerichtet, saubere Zimmer und freundliches Personal. Das dort angebotene Abendessen sollte man sich auf keinen Fall entgehen lassen, auf Wunsch auch vegetarisch oder koscherfreundlich. Sehr leckeres Frühstück mit frisch gepresstem Orangensaft, Eiern nach Wunsch, Obstsalat, griechischem Joghurt und gelegentlich selbst gebackenen Brot. Guter Startpunkt für Wanderungen direkt vor Ort oder in der Nähe.
