The Station Hotel

I had booked this as I needed a quick place to stay with back to back early appointments in Lewisham. I will be honest and say I was not expecting much, I have never stayed in rooms at a pub before, I just thought it would be a place to sleep and nothing more - and potentially be a bit grimy! I am so glad I was proven wrong as soon as I was greeted. The staff were great and patient, in particular the staff member who checked me in (Fred?) was very kind and upbeat (especially considering the time!). There were personal touches in the room such as the house-baked brownies from the chef. The room itself was cleaned to a good standard, with the cleanest area being the bathroom. The blind in the room was broken, and due to a combination my limited strength and stiffness, I could not open the window. Despite this, the bed linens were spotless and the the mattresses were clean too (I always check). I do always wipe down hotel toilets, but I don't think I needed to as it looked very clean. I was only there from 10pm - 8am but I had a restful night's sleep and felt very cosy with the temperature of the room. Check-out in the morning was simple and I am very glad I chose this over a branch hotel.
