Reviews of Rubens at the Palace

The hotel's location is great, near Buckingham Palace and not far from Victoria. It's a bit small but very charming, and the staff are incredibly friendly. It has a stylish vibe. However, some of the facilities are a bit old. The shower definitely needs an upgrade – after a shower, the bathroom floor is flooded, and the water temperature is inconsistent, constantly fluctuating between hot and cold. The overall shower experience was really poor. Everything else was pretty good though.

I prepaid for two nights through Trip. At checkout an unauthorised payment of £498.92 was taken. I challenged this and was assured a refund was coming but it would take two working days. In the early hours of the following day a further two unauthorised payments of £498.02 were taken. In total, just under £1500 was taken from my account without my permission. I contacted Rubens Hotel. They accepted that they had made a mistake and advised that the whole amount would be refunded in two days. My bank account was now empty on the morning I was flying from Gatwick airport for a holiday. I was relying on the funds in my account to pay for various items. Rubens refused any compensation whatsoever and seem to think that taking £1500 from a customers account without permission is OK. There are various terms for their behaviour. It is not OK. Is it even legal? I would advise future customers of this hotel to be very wary.

Very nice location

Amazing experience!! The staff couldn’t do anymore! They were so helpful and friendly! It was my friends birthday while we were stopping! We arrived to a happy birthday message on the mirror and a little happy birthday chocolate cake and biscuits in our room! It’s the little touches that make all the difference!!! The room was so clean and comfortable!! Definitely had the 5 star experience!! I’m not sure what the lovely doorman’s name is! But he was so nice taking photos for us!! Couldn’t recommend this hotel anymore! Thank you for making our weekend so incredible! ☺️

The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. It is close to the subway station and has many restaurants around.

Hotel is nice enough but not worth £350/400pn! - great location for Buckingham Palace. King room, still very small. No fridge in the room. Outdated TV. Staff are very welcoming. But I wouldn’t stay here again or 41 next door that I’ve also stayed at.

The room wasn't large, but it was very luxurious and cleaned daily. Although there was a charge, it was worth it. It's right next to Buckingham Palace. The welcome snacks were especially delicious, and the staff were incredibly welcoming, greeting us every day. We ended up giving them coins as a tip. There are breakfast shops on both sides of the exit, each with a different style. Rose, the lady across the street, was a bit aloof; she only accepted cards, not cash, and we had to wait to be seated. The alley to the left has many chain restaurants, some accepting cash, some cards. We tried them all during our stay and none were bad. Some of the forks at the breakfast shops to the right were broken, so be careful. Two days in a row, guests got cuts on their lips, but the food was still pretty good. We ordered the full English breakfast.

In the heart of London, where every inch of land is valuable, the room was clean but the facilities were old. The elevator was very small, the soundproofing was average, and there was no electric heater in the room. The service was quite challenging for the traveler's English proficiency. The communication was not very considerate of foreigners. If your IELTS score was less than 6, you wouldn't even be able to order breakfast.
